We study the global stability of a multistrain SIS model with superinfection and patch structure. We establish an iterative procedure to obtain a sequence of threshold parameters. By a repeated application of a result by Takeuchi et al. [Nonlinear Anal Real World Appl. 2006;7:235–247], we show that these parameters completely determine the global dynamics of the system: for any number of patches and strains with different infectivities, any subset of the strains can stably coexist depending on the particular choice of the parameters. 相似文献

Soluble forms of aggregated tau misfolded protein, generally termed oligomers, are considered to be the most toxic species of the different assembly states that are the pathological components of neurodegenerative disorders. Therefore, a critical biomedical need exists for imaging probes that can identify and quantify them. We have designed and synthesized a novel fluorescent probe, pTP-TFE for which binding and selectivity profiles towards aggregated tau and Aβ proteins were assessed. Our results have shown pTP-TFE to be selective for early forms of soluble tau aggregates, with high affinity of dissociation constants (Kd) = 66 nM, and tenfold selectivity over mature tau fibrils. Furthermore, we found that pTP-TFE is selective for tau over Aβ aggregates and had good cell permeability. This selectivity of pTP-TFE towards early forms of aggregated tau protein ex vivo was also supported with studies on human brain tissue containing tau and Aβ pathology. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first fluorescent molecule to be reported to have this form of selectivity profile, which suggests that pTP-TFE is a unique probe candidate for imaging-based detection of early stages of Alzheimer''s disease and other tauopathies. pTP-TFE imaging probe can distinguish soluble tau aggregated proteins from other aggregated proteins enabling earlier detection of neurodegenerative diseases. 相似文献

Quick and accurate direct and indirect circular dichroism (CD) spectrometric methods were developed for the simultaneous determination of ethisterone (17alpha-ethinyl-17-hydroxy-4-androstene-3-one) and its delta(5)-isomer (delta(5)-ethisterone). The direct method is based on the selective negative Cotton effect of the delta(4)-3-oxo group in ethisterone (negative maximum at 348 nm in dioxan) and measurement of the ellipticity at 296 nm (positive maximum of delta(5)-ethisterone), where the measured ellipticity is the sum of those of the two isomers. In the indirect procedure delta(5)-ethisterone is transformed to ethisterone by base-catalysed isomerization and the ellipticities are measured at 339 nm in ethanol before and after isomerization. Preliminary experiments show the usefulness of CD detector in the HPLC determination of the mixture of the isomers. A major advantage of the direct CD spectrometric and the HPLC/CD methods is that the delta(5)-isomer with extremely low UV activity can also be directly measured with high sensitivity. 相似文献

We have investigated characteristics of the local symmetry, such as cosine distribution of bond angles and second-order invariants of spherical harmonics for simple disordered systems with systematically varied radial distributions. Two types of variation were used at three different packing fraction values. None of the perturbations affected the basic features, but the extent of local order changed considerably. The most significant alterations were found for the case with the lowest packing fraction. The results presented in this paper may be used as guidelines for assessing the quality of agreement between radial distribution functions from different sources, such as that of simulations and diffraction experiments. 相似文献

Single‐wavelength X‐ray anomalous diffraction (SAD) is a frequently employed technique to solve the phase problem in X‐ray crystallography. The precision and accuracy of recovered anomalous differences are crucial for determining the correct phases. Continuous rotation (CR) and inverse‐beam geometry (IBG) anomalous data collection methods have been performed on tetragonal lysozyme and monoclinic survivin crystals and analysis carried out of how correlated the pairs of Friedel's reflections are after scaling. A multivariate Bayesian model for estimating anomalous differences was tested, which takes into account the correlation between pairs of intensity observations and incorporates the a priori knowledge about the positivity of intensity. The CR and IBG data collection methods resulted in positive correlation between I(+) and I(−) observations, indicating that the anomalous difference dominates between these observations, rather than different levels of radiation damage. An alternative pairing method based on near simultaneously observed Bijvoet's pairs displayed lower correlation and it was unsuccessful for recovering useful anomalous differences when using the multivariate Bayesian model. In contrast, multivariate Bayesian treatment of Friedel's pairs improved the initial phasing of the two tested crystal systems and the two data collection methods. 相似文献

The Shavitt graph is a visual representation of a distinct row table (DRT) within the graphical unitary group approach. The DRT is a compact representation of the entire configuration state function expansion space within a molecular electronic structure calculation. Each node of the graph is associated with an integer triple (a k,b k,c k). These integers may be mapped to other quantum numbers, including the number of orbitals, number of electrons, and spin quantum number, and used to display Shavitt graphs in various ways that emphasize different aspects of the expansion space or that reveal different aspects of computed wave functions. The Sn-3.5Ag-0.5Cu (SAC305) solder alloy is a prominent candidate for the Pb-free solder, and SAC305 solder is generally employed in today's electronic enterprise. In this study, the formation of intermetallic compounds (Cu6Sn5 and Ag3Sn) in the solder (bulk area), average neighboring particle distance, and the morphological mosaic are examined by the addition of silicon carbide (SiC) and nickel-coated SiC reinforcements within Sn-3.5Ag-0.5Cu solder. Results reveal that the addition of SiC and SiC(Ni) particles is associated with a small change to the average neighboring particle distance and a decrease in clustering rate to a certain limit of the Sn-3.5Ag-0.5Cu solder composites. Moreover, the development of the Cu6Sn5 and the structure of the Ag3Sn are improved with the addition of SiC and Ni-coated SiC. 相似文献
