The fast flow method with laser induced fluorescence detection of CH3C(O)CH2 was employed to obtain the rate constant of k1 (298 K) = (1.83 ± 0.12 (1σ)) × 1010 cm3 mol?1 s?1 for the reaction CH3C(O)CH2 + HBr ? CH3C(O)CH3 + Br (1, ?1). The observed reduced reactivity compared with n‐alkyl or alkoxyl radicals can be attributed to the partial resonance stabilization of the acetonyl radical. An application of k1 in a third law estimation provides ΔfH(CH3C(O)CH2) values of ?24 kJ mol?1 and ?28 kJ mol?1 depending on the rate constants available for reaction ( ‐1 ) from the literature. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary Spectrum accumulation was used for the determination of small quantities of chromium near the detection limit in liquid fertilizers using a sequential ICP spectrometer. The results were compared with those obtained by the commonly used technique based on peak height measurement for the emission spectral line Cr 267.716 nm in the concentration range 2–100 ng/g. Spectrum accumulation with 5 accumulations yields about two times more precise results compared with the classical technique with 5 replications.  相似文献

This study deals with the utilization of chicken feather waste as a substrate for anaerobic digestion and improving biogas production by degradation of the compact structure of the feather keratin. In order to increase the digestibility of the feather, different pretreatments were investigated, including thermal pretreatment at 120 °C for 10 min, enzymatic hydrolysis with an alkaline endopeptidase [0.53–2.66 mL/g volatile solids (VS) feathers] for 0, 2, or 24 h at 55 °C, as well as a combination of these pretreatments. The effects of the treatments were then evaluated by anaerobic batch digestion assays at 55 °C. The enzymatic pretreatment increased the methane yield to 0.40 Nm3/kg VSadded, which is 122 % improvement compared to the yield of the untreated feathers. The other treatment conditions were less effective, increasing the methane yield by 11–50 %. The long-term effects of anaerobic digestion of feathers were examined by co-digestion of the feather with organic fraction of municipal solid waste performed with and without the addition of enzyme. When enzyme was added together with the feed, CH4 yield of 0.485 Nm3/kg VS?1 d?1 was achieved together with a stable reactor performance, while in the control reactor, a decrease in methane production, together with accumulation of undegraded feather, was observed.  相似文献

Surgical techniques including new, possible resources to repair injured joints and damaged cartilage are still evolving. The exact effects of cryopreservation on the collected cartilage samples require accurate determination prior to utilization. The aim of our study was to analyze the impact of cryopreservation at ?80 °C on the structural properties of the human cartilage. The effects of storage time were also evaluated in conjunction with optimal utilization. The human cartilage samples were derived during operation and considered to be waste material. Samples were fresh frozen and stored at ?80 °C. Cryopreservation times were: 0, 1, 3, 6, and 12 weeks. To assess the biological and structural properties of the frozen human cartilage, we performed calorimetric examinations using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). During the first 3 weeks, the calorimetric enthalpy (ΔH cal) showed an increasing tendency compared to controls, parallel with the denaturation temperature (T m): ΔH cal (J g?1) = 1.60 versus 2.49, T m1 (°C) = 61.73 versus 63.64. After the sixth week, both the enthalpy and the transition temperature decreased, compared to the control samples. The decrease in both the calorimetric enthalpy and T m could be explained by the decrease in bound water and the time-related degeneration in the structure of the cartilage. Here we found that the duration of cryopreservation interferes with the morphology of human cartilage samples only after 6 weeks of storage time. The thermal analyzes of human cartilage by DSC could be a useful method to follow the morphological changes in the clinical practice.  相似文献

We introduce Amplified Luminescent Proximity Homogenous Assay (ALPHA) to assess the K(D) value of aptamer-protein complexes as demonstrated through the study of apple stem pitting virus coat protein-specific aptamers. Many argued (Accardi and Fedullo, Pitowsky) that Kolmogorov's axioms of classical probability theory are incompatible with quantum probabilities, and that this is the reason for the violation of Bell's inequalities. Szabó showed that, in fact, these inequalities are not violated by the experimentally observed frequencies if we consider the real, “effective” frequencies. We prove in this work a theorem which generalizes this results: “effective” frequencies associated to quantum events always admit a Kolmogorovian representation, when these events are collected through different experimental setups, the choice of which obeys a classical distribution.  相似文献

The Kondo resonance of Co adatoms on the Cu(100) and Cu(111) surfaces has been studied by scanning tunneling spectroscopy. We demonstrate the scaling of the Kondo temperature T(K) with the host electron density at the magnetic impurity. The quantitative analysis of the tunneling spectra reveals that the Kondo resonance is dominated by the Cu bulk electrons. While at the Cu(100) surface both tunneling into the hybridized localized state and into the substrate conduction band contribute to the Kondo resonance, the latter channel is found to be dominant for Cu(111).  相似文献

Plant cell cultures provide a large potential for the production of secondary metabolites. Through the application of different physical and chemical cell stress factors, we investigated the production of the secondary metabolites in plant cell cultures. The effects of pulsed electric field (PEF) and ethephon on growth and secondary metabolism, particularly anthocyanins and phenolic acids synthesis, were investigated by using suspension culture of Vitis vinifera L. cv. Gamay Fréaux as a model system. Anthocyanins were measured by spectrophotometer and extracellular phenolic acids were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography. The compounds were identified by liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance. After the treatments with PEF and ethephon, the concentrations of anthocyanins and phenolic acids in cell culture were higher than in the control, without loss of biomass. The combination of PEF treatment and ethephon improved secondary metabolites formation. Production levels of extracellular phenolic acids, 3-O-glucosyl-resveratrol were increased by PEF and ethephon treatments. The results show that PEF induced a defense response of plant cells and may have altered the cell/membrane’s dielectric properties. PEF, an external stimulus or stress, is proposed as a promising new abiotic elicitor for stimulating secondary metabolites biosynthesis in plant cell cultures.  相似文献

There are some contradictions in the literature on the structure of micelles formed by the BRIJ-35 surfactant in water. One can find reasonable differences in the aggregation numbers and micellar sizes, but there is a lack of data on the intermicellar structure. In this study, we reevaluated the small-angle neutron scattering experiments performed previously on the BRIJ-35 surfactant in the concentration range of 5-200 g/dm3 at 20, 40, and 60 degrees C. The data were analyzed with a reverse Monte Carlo-type method developed recently for colloids. The micelles were modeled as spherical cores representing the hydrophobic parts and number of balls put on the cores to mimic the hydrated hydrophilic chains. The simulations provided data on the mean aggregation number and on the extent of hydration of the hydrophilic shell of the micelles. We obtained intermicellar pair-correlation functions indicating different micelle-micelle interactions from the usually assumed hard-sphere ones.  相似文献

Tidal charged spherically symmetric vacuum brane black holes are characterized by their mass m and tidal charge q, an imprint of the five-dimensional Weyl curvature. For q>0 they are formally identical to the Reissner–Nordström black hole of general relativity. We study the thermodynamics and thermodynamic geometries of tidal charged black holes and discuss similarities and differences as compared to the Reissner–Nordströ m black hole. As a similarity, we show that (for q>0) the heat capacity of the tidal charged black hole diverges on a set of measure zero of the parameter space, nevertheless both the regularity of the Ruppeiner metric and a Poincaré stability analysis show no phase transition at those points. The thermodynamic state spaces being different indicates that the underlying statistical models could be different. We find that the q<0 parameter range, which enhances the localization of gravity on the brane, is thermodynamically preferred. Finally we constrain for the first time the possible range of the tidal charge from the thermodynamic limit on gravitational radiation efficiency at black hole mergers.  相似文献
