A series of terminal alkynes has been reacted with sodium perborate and mercuric acetate catalyst in acetic acid to produce 1-acetoxyalkan-2-ones in good yield. The reaction constitutes a mild and convenient method for the oxidation of terminal triple bonds.  相似文献

A novel UV dosimeter is described comprising a tetrazolium dye, neotetrazolium chloride (NTC), dissolved in a film of polymer, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The dosimeter is pale yellow/colourless in the absence of UV light, and turns red upon exposure to UV light. The spectral characteristics of a typical UV dosimeter film and the mechanism through which the colour change occurs are detailed. The NTC UV dosimeter films exhibit a response to UV light that is related to the intensity and duration of UV exposure, the level of dye present in the films and the thickness of the films themselves. The response of the dosimeter is temperature independent over the range 20–40 °C and, like most UV dosimeters, exhibits a cosine-like response dependence upon irradiance angle. The introduction of a layer of a UV-screening compound which slows the rate at which the dosimeter responds to UVR enables the dosimeter response to be tailored to different UV doses. The possible use of these novel dosimeters to measure solar UV exposure dose is discussed.  相似文献

Coenzyme B12 can assist radical enzymes that accomplish the vicinal interchange of a hydrogen atom with a functional group. It has been proposed that the Co? C bond homolysis of coenzyme B12 to cob(II)alamin and the 5′‐deoxyadenosyl radical is aided by hydrogen bonding of the corrin C19? H to the 3′‐O of the ribose moiety of the incipient 5′‐deoxyadenosyl radical, which is stabilized by 30 kJ mol?1 (B. Durbeej et al., Chem. Eur. J. 2009 , 15, 8578–8585). The diastereoisomers (R)‐ and (S)‐2,3‐dihydroxypropylcobalamin were used as models for coenzyme B12. A downfield shift of the NMR signal for the C19? H proton was observed for the (R)‐isomer (δ=4.45 versus 4.01 ppm for the (S)‐isomer) and can be ascribed to an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the C19? H and the oxygen of CHOH. Crystal structures of (R)‐ and (S)‐2,3‐dihydroxypropylcobalamin showed C19? H???O distances of 3.214(7) Å (R‐isomer) and 3.281(11) Å (S‐isomer), which suggest weak hydrogen‐bond interactions (?ΔG<6 kJ mol?1) between the CHOH of the dihydroxypropyl ligand and the C19? H. Exchange of the C19? H, which is dependent on the cobalt redox state, was investigated with cob(I)alamin, cob(II)alamin, and cob(III)alamin by using NMR spectroscopy to monitor the uptake of deuterium from deuterated water in the pH range 3–11. No exchange was found for any of the cobalt oxidation states. 3′,5′‐Dideoxyadenosylcobalamin, but not the 2′,5′‐isomer, was found to act as a coenzyme for glutamate mutase, with a 15‐fold lower kcat/KM than 5′‐deoxyadenosylcobalamin. This indicates that stabilization of the 5′‐deoxyadenosyl radical by a hydrogen bond that involves the C19? H and the 3′‐OH group of the cofactor is, at most, 7 kJ mol?1 (?ΔG). Examination of the crystal structure of glutamate mutase revealed additional stabilizing factors: hydrogen bonds between both the 2′‐OH and 3′‐OH groups and glutamate 330. The actual strength of a hydrogen bond between the C19? H and the 3′‐O of the ribose moiety of the 5′‐deoxyadenosyl group is concluded not to exceed 6 kJ mol?1 (?ΔG).  相似文献

Polyion complexes formed by monolayers of quaternary ammonium amphiphiles containing the 4-nitro-4'-alkoxy azobenzene chromophore spread at the surface of aqueous solutions of a number of anionic polyelectrolytes were investigated. In general, pi-A isotherms were found to depend on the nature of the polyion present in the subphase, with monolayers of complexes involving polycarboxylates tending to exhibit larger limiting areas than those formed with polysulfonates or polysulfates. Monolayers of the polyion complexes can be transferred to hydrophilic solid substrates to yield Z-type LB films, although some peeling off for more than 10 layers is an impediment. X-ray reflectivity measurements indicate that relatively smooth and uniform films are obtained up to about 10 layers. Average layer thicknesses are, however, significantly smaller than extended molecular lengths, implying that the amphiphiles are strongly inclined from the surface normal. Polarized FT-IR measurements also indicate poor molecular orientation perpendicular to the surface. Preliminary SHG measurements for LB films of two systems, 12Q/CMC-Na and 12Q/PAA, confirm the presence of noncentrosymmetric out-of-plane chromophore ordering. Stable signals are observed for elevated temperatures up to 130 degrees C and for a period of 4 months at room temperature. To the best of our knowledge, this represents the first report of stable SHG in LB films of polyion complexes.  相似文献

The densities at high pressures of 1-butanol and iso-octane were measured in the range (0.1 to 140) MPa at seven different temperatures, from (273.15 to 333.15) K, and their mixtures were measured in the range (0.1 to 50) MPa at four different temperatures, from (273.15 to 333.15) K. The measurements were performed in a high-pressure vibrating tube densimeter. The pressure–volume–temperature behavior of these compounds and their mixtures was evaluated accurately over a wide range of temperatures and pressures. The data were successfully correlated with the empirical Tamman–Tait equation. The experimental data and the correlations were used to study the behavior and the influence of temperature and pressure on the isothermal compressibility and the isobaric thermal expansivity.Also, the isobaric heat capacities were measured over the range (0.1 to 25) MPa at two different temperatures (293.15 and 313.15) K for the pure compounds and their mixtures. The measurements were performed in a high-pressure automated flow calorimeter. The excess molar heat capacities were assessed for the mixture and a positive deviation from the ideality was obtained.  相似文献

A chiral perylene diimide building block has been prepared based on an amine derivative of the amino acid L ‐phenylalanine. Detailed studies were carried out into the self‐assembly behaviour of the material in solution and the solid state using UV/Vis, circular dichroism (CD) and fluorescence spectroscopy. For the charged building block BTPPP, the molecular chirality of the side chains is translated into the chiral supramolecular structure in the form of right‐handed helical aggregates in aqueous solution. Temperature‐dependent UV/Vis studies of BTPPP in aqueous solution showed that the self‐assembly behaviour of this dye can be well described by an isodesmic model in which aggregation occurs to generate short stacks in a reversible manner. Wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction studies (WXRD) revealed that this material self‐organises into aggregates with π–π stacking distances typical for π‐conjugated materials. TEM investigations revealed the formation of self‐assembled structures of low order and with no expression of chirality evident. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarised optical microscopy (POM) were used to investigate the mesophase properties. Optical textures representative of columnar liquid–crystalline phases were observed for solvent‐annealed samples of BTPPP. The high solubility, tunable self‐assembly and chiral ordering of these materials demonstrate their potential as new molecular building blocks for use in the construction of chiro‐optical structures and devices.  相似文献

Erbium L(3)-edge extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements were performed on rare earth doped fluorosilicate and fluoroborate glasses and glass ceramics. The well known nucleating effects of erbium ions for the crystallization of cubic lead fluoride (based on x-ray diffraction measurements) and the fact that the rare earth ions are present in the crystalline phase (as indicated by Er(3+) emission spectra) seem in contradiction with the present EXAFS analysis, which indicates a lack of medium range structural ordering around the Er(3+) ions and suggests that the lead fluoride crystallization does not occur in the nearest neighbor distance of the rare earth ion. Molecular dynamics simulations of the devitrification process of a lead fluoride glass doped with Er(3+) ions were performed, and results indicate that Er(3+) ions lower the devitrification temperature of PbF(2), in good agreement with the experimental results. The genuine role of Er(3+) ions in the devitrification process of PbF(2) has been investigated. Although Er(3+) ions could indeed act as seeds for crystallization, as experiments suggest, molecular dynamics simulation results corroborate the experimental EXAFS observation that the devitrification does not occur at its nearest neighbor distance.  相似文献

Nitric acid plays an important role in the heterogeneous chemistry of the atmosphere. Reactions involving HNO(3) at aqueous interfaces in the stratosphere and troposphere depend on the state of nitric acid at these surfaces. The vapor/liquid interface of HNO(3)-H2O binary solutions and HNO(3)-H(2)SO(4)-H2O ternary solutions are examined here using vibrational sum frequency spectroscopy (VSFS). Spectra of the NO2 group at different HNO(3) mole fractions and under different polarization combinations are used to develop a detailed picture of these atmospherically important systems. Consistent with surface tension and spectroscopic measurements from other laboratories, molecular nitric acid is identified at the surface of concentrated solutions. However, the data here reveal the adsorption of two different hydrogen-bonded species of undissociated HNO(3) in the interfacial region that differ in their degree of solvation of the nitro group. The adsorption of these undissociated nitric acid species is shown to be sensitive to the H2O:HNO(3) ratio as well as to the concentration of sulfuric acid.  相似文献

The tetra-n-butylammonium (TBA) salt of [(MeO)TiW(5)O(18)](3-) 1 was reacted with alcohols ROH to give primary, secondary and tertiary alkoxide derivatives [(RO)TiW(5)O(18)](3-) (R = Et 2, (i)Pr 3 and (t)Bu 4), whilst hydrolysis afforded [(mu-O)(TiW(5)O(18))(2)](6-) 5 rather than the hydroxo derivative (R = H). In reactions with (i)PrOH and (t)BuOH, impurity peaks observed at 1015 and 1020 ppm in the (17)O NMR spectra indicate alkoxide degradation and Ti=O bond formation via reactions analogous to those occurring at the surfaces of solid heteropolyacids. Aryloxides [(ArO)TiW(5)O(18)](3-) were prepared by reacting 1 with phenols ArOH (Ar = C(6)H(5) 6, C(6)H(4)Me-4 7, C(6)H(4)(t)Bu-4 8, C(6)H(4)OH-4 9, C(6)H(4)OH-3 10, C(6)H(3)(OH)(2)-3,5 11 and C(6)H(4)CHO-2 13). TiW(5)O(18) units were linked by reacting 1 with 9 to give [(mu-1,4-OC(6)H(4)O)(TiW(5)O(18))(2)](6-) 12. (17)O and (183)W NMR spectra are reported and X-ray crystal structures were obtained for TBA salts of anions 3-10 and 13, which showed that the titanium is six-coordinate in all cases. Reactions were monitored by (1)H NMR, including a 2D-EXSY study of methoxo exchange, and the slow rates observed are probably associated with the reluctance of titanium in these anions to achieve seven-coordination.  相似文献

Orthokinetic flocculation of clay dispersions at pH 7.5 and 22 degrees C has been investigated to determine the influence of interfacial chemistry and shear on dewatering and particle interactions behavior. Modification of pulp chemistry and behavior was achieved by using kaolinite and Na-exchanged (swelling) smectite clay minerals, divalent metal ions (Ca(II), Mn(II)) as coagulants and anionic polyacrylamide copolymer (PAM A) and non-ionic polyacrylamide homopolymer (PAM N) as flocculants. The pivotal role of shear, provided by a two-blade paddle impeller, was probed as a function of agitation rate (100-500 rpm) and time (15/60 s). Particle zeta potential and adsorption isotherms were measured to quantify the interfacial chemistry, whilst rheology and cryogenic SEM were used to investigate particle interactions and floc structure and aggregate network, respectively. Osmotic swelling, accompanied by the formation of "honeycomb" particle network structure and high yield stress, was produced by the Na-exchanged smectite, but not kaolinite, dispersions. Dispersion of the clay particles in 0.05 M Ca(II) or Mn(II) solution led to a marked reduction in particle zeta potential, complete suppression of swelling, honeycomb network structure collapse and a concomitant reduction in shear yield stress of smectite pulps. Optimum conditions for improved, orthokinetic flocculation performance of negatively charged clay particles, reflecting faster settling flocs comprised (i) coagulation, (ii) moderate agitation rate, (iii) shorter agitation time, and (iv) anionic rather than non-ionic PAM. The optimum dewatering rates were significantly higher than those produced by standard, manual-mixing flocculation techniques (plunging and cylinder inversion) commonly used in industry for flocculant trials. The optimum flocculation conditions did not, however, have a significant impact on the final sediment solid content of 20-22 wt%. Further application of shear to pre-sedimented pulps improved consolidation by 5-7 wt% solid. Higher shear yield stresses and greater settling rates were displayed by PAM A based than PAM N based pulps and this is attributed to the former's more expanded interfacial conformation and greater clay particles bridging ability. It appears that the intrinsic clay particles' physico-chemical properties and interactions limit compact pulp consolidation.  相似文献
