The effect of resonant fluorescent enhancement from a photonic crystal surface upon the fluorescent photobleaching rate of Cyanine-5 labeled protein has been investigated. We show that the enhanced excitation mechanism for photonic crystal enhanced fluorescence, in which the device surface resonantly couples light from an excitation laser, accelerates photobleaching in proportion to the coupling efficiency of the laser to the photonic crystal. We also show that the enhanced extraction mechanism, in which the photonic crystal directs emitted photons approximately normal to the surface, does not play a role in the rate of photobleaching. We show that the photobleaching rate of dye molecules on the photonic crystal surface is accelerated by 30x compared to an ordinary glass surface, but substantial signal gain is still evident, even after extended periods of continuous illumination at the resonant condition.  相似文献

Detailed spectroscopic studies on extreme UV emission from laser plasmas using tin and lithium planar solid targets were completed. At 13.5 nm, the best conversion efficiency (CE) for lithium was found to be 2.2% at intensities near 7 x 10(10) W/cm(2). The highest CE measured for tin was near 5.0% at an intensity close to 1 x 10(11) W/cm(2).  相似文献

Recent studies show that structures based on the traditional "icelike" water bilayer are not stable on flat transition metal surfaces and, instead, more complex wetting layers are formed. Here we show that an ordered bilayer can be formed on a SnPt(111) alloy template and determine the structure of the water layer by low energy electron diffraction. Close agreement is found between experiment and the structure calculated by density functional theory. Corrugation of the alloy surface allows only alternate water molecules to chemisorb, stabilizing the H-down water bilayer by reducing the metal-hydrogen repulsion compared to a flat surface.  相似文献

A multi-objective mixed integer programming model for equity portfolio construction and selection is developed in this study, in order to generate the Pareto optimal portfolios, using a novel version of the well known ε-constraint method. Subsequently, an interactive filtering process is also proposed to assist the decision maker in making his/her final choice among the Pareto solutions. A characterization of well-powered abelian categories A such that there exists an exact embedding functor AR-Mod is given. Using this characterization and abelian category duality, the following duality principles can be established.Theorem. There exists an exact embedding functor AR-Mod if and only if there exists an exact embedding functor AopRop-Mod.Corollary. If R-Mod has a specified diagram-chasing property, then Rop-Mod has the dual property.A lattice L is representable by R-modules if it is embeddable in the lattice of submodules of some unitary left R-module; L(R) denotes the quasivariety of all lattices representable by R-modules.Theorem. A lattice L is representable by R-modules if and only if its order dual L1 is representable by Rop-modules. That is, L(Rop)={L1:L?L(R)}.If R is a commutative ring with 1 and a specified diagram-chasing result is satisfied in R-Mod, then the dual result is also satisfied in R-Mod. The Reverse Cuthill-McKee (RCM) algorithm is a method for reordering a sparse matrix so that it has a small envelope. Given a starting node, we provide an implementation of the algorithm whose run-time complexity is proved to be linear in the number of nonzeros in the matrix. Numerical experiments are provided which compare the performance of the new implementation to a good conventional implementation.  相似文献

This paper studies certain types of join and meet-irreducibles called coprimes and primes. These elements can be used to characterize certain types of lattices. For example, a lattice is distributive if and only if every join-irreducible is coprime. Similarly, a lattice is meet-pseudocomplemented if and only if each atom is coprime. Furthermore, these elements naturally decompose lattices into sublattices so that often properties of the original lattice can be deduced from properties of the sublattice. Not every lattice has primes and coprimes. This paper shows that lattices which are long enough must have primes and coprimes and that these elements and the resulting decompositions can be used to study such lattices.The length of every finite lattice is bounded above by the minimum of the number of meet-irreducibles (meet-rank) and the number of join-irreducibles (join-rank) that it has. This paper studies lattices for which length=join-rank or length=meet-rank. These are called p-extremal lattices and they have interesting decompositions and properties. For example, ranked, p-extremal lattices are either lower locally distributive (join-rank=length), upper locally distributive (meet-rank=length) or distributive (join-rank=meet-rank=length). In the absence of the Jordan-Dedekind chain condition, p-extremal lattices still have many interesting properties. Of special interest are the lattices that satisfy both equalities. Such lattices are called extremal; this class includes distributive lattices and the associativity lattices of Tamari. Even though they have interesting decompositions, extremal lattices cannot be characterized algebraically since any finite lattice can be embedded as a subinterval into an extremal lattice. This paper shows how prime and coprime elements, and the poset of irreducibles can be used to analyze p-extremal and other types of lattices.The results presented in this paper are used to deduce many key properties of the Tamari lattices. These lattices behave much like distributive lattices even though they violate the Jordan-Dedekind chain condition very strongly having maximal chains that vary in length from N-1 to N(N-1)/2 where N is a parameter used in the construction of these lattices.  相似文献
