Mesophase formation in lead(II) decanoate

Abstract

Structures of the thermotropic mesophases of lead(II) decanoate are reassigned following optical and X-ray diffraction studies. These results, and those of D.S.C., Raman and ²⁰⁷Pb N.M.R. spectroscopy, indicate formation of a lower temperature mesophase involving mainly increased lateral disorder, and a higher temperature L_α (smectic A) phase resulting from chain disordering and decreased lead-carboxylate interaction. Comparison of experimental thermodynamic data for the phase transitions with theoretical data in the literature indicates that the entropy change for the lower to higher mesophase transition is dominated by the increase in chain disorder.     

Synchronization and Non-Smooth Dynamical Systems

In this article we establish an interaction between non-smooth systems, geometric singular perturbation theory and synchronization phenomena. We find conditions for a non-smooth vector fields be locally synchronized. Moreover its regularization provide a singular perturbation problem with attracting critical manifold. We also state a result about the synchronization which occurs in the regularization of the fold-fold case. We restrict ourselves to the 3-dimensional systems (ℓ = 3) and consider the case known as a T-singularity.

30GHz RF脉冲压缩器设计

 为得到脉宽150ns，功率超过100MW的30GHz微波脉冲，采用MSLED-II原理设计了30GHz RF-脉冲压缩器。H-Hybrid，TE₁₀0^口-TE₁₀^o模式转换器等器件都采用了新型设计，所有微波器件的设计充分考虑了高功率下的适用性，没有容易引起打火的调谐杆、容性膜片等部件。在微波器件的设计中用HFSS软件进行了详尽的模拟。加工并测试了H-Hybrid，且用在CERN的RF脉冲展宽器上。     

Hypersurfaces of the Euclidean sphere with nonnegative Ricci curvature

In this paper we prove that a compact oriented hypersurface of a Euclidean sphere with nonnegative Ricci curvature and infinite fundamental group is isometric to an H(r)-torus with constant mean curvature. Furthermore, we generalize, whithout any hypothesis about the mean curvature, a characterization of Clifford torus due to Hasanis and Vlachos. Received: 19 March 2002     

A greedy algorithm for multicut and integral multiflow in rooted trees

We present an O(min(Kn,n²)) algorithm to solve the maximum integral multiflow and minimum multicut problems in rooted trees, where K is the number of commodities and n is the number of vertices. These problems are NP-hard in undirected trees but polynomial in directed trees. In the algorithm we propose, we first use a greedy procedure to build the multiflow then we use duality properties to obtain the multicut and prove the optimality.     

Mössbauer study of spin-glass Fe x Zn1−x F2 system

⁵⁷Fe Mössbauer effect measurements in the diluted Ising antiferromagnet Fe _x Zn_1?x F₂ withx=0.25 andx=0.57 at temperatures between 4.2 and 55 K, are reported. DC suceptibility measurements show a spin-glass (SG) phase at low temperatures forx≤0.31. Our Mössbauer spectra show a phase transition to a SG state with antiferromagnetic order (AFSG) forx=0.25 and only antiferromagnetic order forx=0.57.
