Steric structure of <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-(2-Hydrazono-2-hydroxyethyl)-<Emphasis Type="Italic">d</Emphasis>-pseudoephedrine and its intramolecular heterocyclization under the action of orthoformic ester

An X-ray structural investigation of N-(2-hydrazono-2-hydroxyethyl)-d-pseudoephedrine is performed, and intramolecular heterocyclization of this compound with orthoformic ester is studied. The final reaction product is found to be a compound containing a morpholone ring rather than substituted 1,3,4-oxadiazole.     

Synthesis and crystalline and molecular structures of the morpholinylamide of N(R)-l-ephedrinylacetic acid

The synthesis of the morpholinylamide of N(R)-1-ephedrinylacetic acid has been achieved by the interaction of (5S,6R)-4,5-dimethyl-6-phenylmorpholin-2-one with morpholine, and its structure has been shown by IR and PMR spectroscopies and x-ray structural analysis.Translated from Khimiya Prirodnykh Soedinenii, No. 1, pp. 108–112, January–February, 1999.     

Synthesis of nitrophenyl-substituted 1,3-thiazoline-2-thiones by oxirane ring opening with several dithiocarbamates

Thiazolo-2(3H)-thiones have been prepared by the reaction of triethylamine dithiocarbamates and 4-nitrophenyloxirane via formation of intermediate 2-hydroxy-2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethyldithiocarbamates with simultaneous dehydrogenation of the thiazolidine ring to a thiazoline. It was found that both the basicity of the starting amines and the temperature influenced the course of the reaction.

Certain derivatives of ethyl p-aminobenzoate were synthesized with the purpose of creating biologically active oligomeric condensation products.     

Synthesis of isonicotinic acid vinyloxyethylthiosemicarbazide

The reaction of isonicotinic acid hydrazide with vinyloxyethyl isothiocyanate was studied. The reaction product exhibits antifungal activity toward Candida albicans strain.

The acylation of dithiocarbamates derived from l-ephedrine and d-pseudoephedrine gives, depending on the structure of the acylating agent, acyl derivatives of the dithiocarbamates or their cyclic decomposition products, viz. oxazolidinethiones.     

Synthesis, structure, and transformations of 3-(N-Cytisinyl)propyne

3-(N-Cytisinyl)propyne was synthesized, and its transformations under Favorskii reaction conditions were studied and X-ray diffraction analysis was performed.
