Synthesis and biologic activity of aryloxyaminopropanoles based on substituted <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-tolylalkylamines

Reaction of 2,2-dimethyl-2-(p-tolyl)ethyl-, 1-p-tolylcyclopenthylmethyl- and 4-(p-tolyl)tetrahydro-2Н-pyran-4-ylmethylamines with phenoxymethyloxiranes substituted in the aromatic ring afforded new aryloxypropanolamines, some of which show moderate adrenoblocking activity.     

The effect of shifting of the absorption edge in the silicon nanowire

The dark and photo current–voltage characteristics (CVC), the absorption spectrum and the photosensitivity of the field effect transistor based on the silicon nanowires have been investigated. The spectral dependences of the photocurrent have been obtained. It is shown that the absorption capacity of the silicon nanowire is shifted to the shorter wavelengths. In contrast to the bulk silicon, the photocurrent and the photosensitivity rise at room temperature and have the record high values in the ultraviolet region. It is proposed to use the field-effect transistors based on the silicon nanowires operating at the room temperature as the highly-sensitive detectors for the ultraviolet spectral region.     

Investigation of the influence of external electric field on the anisotropy of nematic liquid crystals by X-Ray interferometry

The influence of external electric field on the anisotropy of a layer of nematic liquid crystal (NLC) was investigated by means of X-Ray interferometric method. It was shown that in Xray range of the spectrum NLC E7 is a positive anisotropic medium. The decrements of a layer of NLC subjected to the electric field were calculated. As a result of reorientation of NLC molecules perpendicular to the cell substrate, the decrements prove equal for cases when the optical axis of a sample was initially perpendicular or parallel to the X-ray beam polarization vector.

Crystal growth of β-Phthalocyanines from the vapour phase in closed ampoules

An influence of temperature gradient, inert gas pressure and pulling rate on the growth parameters of β-phthalocyanine single crystals grown in the closed ampoules is investigated. The morphology and structure — sensitive properties of β-CuPc crystals grown under different conditions are compared.     

Synthesis of Water-Soluble CdSe Quantum Dots With Various Fluorescent Properties and Their Application in Immunoassay for Determination of C-Reactive Protein

Effects of various factors on synthesis and fluorescent properties of CdSe quantum dots were studied. It was shown that variation of pH, stabilizer and concentration of precursors brings to obtaining of quantum dots with various fluorescent properties. The nanoparticles prepared were conjugated with rabbit antibodies to C-Reactive protein and C-Reactive protein for competitive immunoassay for determination of CRP. It was shown that interaction of these dots as a result of antigen-antibody reaction brings to resonance energy transfer and these changes in fluorescence spectra correlate with concentration of CRP. This approach permits to determine CRP in range between 4–100 ng

Synthesis and separation of diastereoisomeric 1-aryl-3-piperidino(morpholino)-2-phenylpropan-1-ols and their hydrochlorides

1-Aryl-3-piperidino(morpholino)-2-phenylpropan-1-ols were synthesized by reduction of the corresponding 1-aryl-3-piperidino(morpholino)-2-phenylpropan-1-ones with lithium tetrahydridoaluminate, and the products were separated into erythro and threo isomers by fractional crystallization. Their relative configuration and diastereoisomeric purity was determined by ¹H NMR spectroscopy.     

Deuterium release from lithium irradiated by deuterium plasma

Lithium targets are exposed to deuterium plasma with a fluence of 10²²–10²³ D/m² and then heated at a rate of about 5°C/s up to 600°C. Intense deuterium release starts at 400°C. Based on the TDS measurements, it is assumed that deuterium in Li exists in two equilibrium phases: a solid solution and LiD precipitates that start to actively decompose above 400°C.
