In this article we report the main experimental results obtained in the framework of the IST ATLAS project regarding the transmission at 40 Gb/s over long terrestrial links, including the frequency conversion of a signal. We report the single-channel 40 Gb/s transmission over a link 500 km long with an amplifier spacing of 100 km, both with G.652 fibers and G.653 fibers by periodically compensating the chromatic dispersion with dispersion-compensating fibers. We report the single-channel transmission at 40 Gb/s, also, after the wavelength conversion of a channel with both PPLN and semiconductor optical amplifier devices. In particular, 500 km distances are obtained with PPLN wavelength conversion and 300 km distances with semiconductor optical amplifiers. Some results have been reported for electronic devices operating at 40 Gb/s.  相似文献

This paper shows the applicability of a disposable and inexpensive microfluidic chip for electrochromatographic separations. The chip, recently developed by us for chip-based LC, was fabricated from PDMS incorporating conventional chromatographic RP silica particles (C18) without the use of frits. Three cephalosporin antibiotics were used to demonstrate the applicability of the chip-based chromatographic packing for electrochromatographic determinations. The used sample injection method utilizes hydrodynamic pressure, thereby, reducing the propensity for sample bias during the injection.  相似文献

Pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) applying three extraction cycles, temperature and pressure, improved the efficiency of solvent extraction when compared with the classical Soxhlet extraction. Polychlorinated-p-dioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and dioxin-like PCBs (coplanar polychlorinated biphenyls (Co-PCBs)) in two Certified Reference Materials [DX-1 (sediment) and BCR 529 (soil)] and in two contaminated environmental samples (sediment and soil) were extracted by ASE and Soxhlet methods. Unlike data previously reported by other authors, results demonstrated that ASE using n-hexane as solvent and three extraction cycles, 12.4 MPa (1800 psi) and 150 degrees C achieves similar recovery results than the classical Soxhlet extraction for PCDFs and Co-PCBs, and better recovery results for PCDDs. ASE extraction, performed in less time and with less solvent proved to be, under optimized conditions, an excellent extraction technique for the simultaneous analysis of PCDD/PCDFs and Co-PCBs from environmental samples. Such fast analytical methodology, having the best cost-efficiency ratio, will improve the control and will provide more information about the occurrence of dioxins and the levels of toxicity and thereby will contribute to increase human health.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of new two-dimensional (2D) cyanide-bridged iron(II)-gold(I) bimetallic coordination polymers formulated, {Fe(3-Xpy)2[Au(CN)2]2} (py = pyridine; X = F (1), Cl (2), Br (3), and I (4)) and the clathrate derivative {Fe(3-Ipy)2[Au(CN)2]2}.1/2(3-Ipy) (5), are reported. The iron(II) ion lies in pseudoctahedral [FeN6] sites defined by four [Au(CN)2](-) bridging ligands and two 3-Xpy ligands occupying the equatorial and axial positions, respectively. Although only compounds 2 and 4 can be considered strictly isostructurals, all of the components of this family are made up of parallel stacks of corrugated {Fe[Au(CN)2]2}n grids. The grids are formed by edge sharing of {Fe4[Au(CN)2]4} pseudosquare moieties. The stacks are constituted of double layers sustained by short aurophilic contacts ranging from 3.016(2) to 3.1580(8) A. The Au...Au distances between consecutive double layers are in the range of 5.9562(9)-8.790(2) A. Compound 5, considered a clathrate derivative of 4, includes one-half of a 3-Ipy molecule per iron(II) atom between the double layers. Compound 1 undergoes a half-spin transition with critical temperatures Tc downward arrow = 140 K and Tc upward arrow = 145 K. The corresponding thermodynamic parameters derived from differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) are Delta H = 9.8 +/- 0.4 kJ mol(-1) and Delta S = 68.2 +/- 3 J K mol(-1). This spin transition is accompanied by a crystallographic phase transition from the monoclinic P2(1)/c space group to the triclinic P1 space group. At high temperatures, where 1 is 100% high-spin, there is only one crystallographically independent iron(II) site. In contrast, the low temperature structural analysis shows the occurrence of two crystallographically independent iron(II) sites with equal population, one high-spin and the other low-spin. Furthermore, 1 undergoes a complete two-step spin transition at pressures as high as 0.26 GPa. Compounds 2- 4 are high-spin iron(II) complexes according to their magnetic and [FeN6] structural characteristics. Compound 5, characterized for having two different iron(II) sites, displays a two-step spin transition with critical temperatures of Tc(1) = 155 K, Tc(2) downward arrow = 97 K, and Tc(2) upward arrow = 110 K. This change of spin state takes place in both sites simultaneously. All of these results are compared and discussed in the context of other {Fe(L) x [M(I)(CN)2]} coordination polymers, particularly those belonging to the homologous compounds {Fe(3-Xpy)2[Ag(CN)2]2} and their corresponding clathrate derivatives.  相似文献

Experimental data of amphiphiles aggregation phenomena in water-organic solvent mixtures were considered with the idea of investigating the role of the solvophobic effect on micellization. Changes in the critical micelle concentration, in the micellar ionization degree (for ionic surfactants) and in the aggregation number accompanying variations in the composition of the bulk phase of the micellar solutions were examined with the scope of understanding which properties of the water-organic solvent mixtures are important in the micellization process. Results point out that the cohesive energy density, measured either through the Hildebrand-Hansen solubility parameter or the Gordon parameter, seems to play an important role in determining the contribution of the solvophobic effect on the Gibbs energy of micellization in water-organic solvents mixtures.  相似文献

Ruthenium catalysts supported on zinc-promoted amorphous-niobium mixed oxides were prepared, characterized, and studied in the additive-free partial hydrogenation of benzene reaction. The amorphous matrix of Nb2O5 was responsible for a highly active Ru/Nb2O5 catalyst, although less selective than those containing zinc. The ZnO-containing supports were prepared by wet impregnation technique, followed by incipient wetness of ruthenium chloride salt. The catalysts were characterized by textural analysis, X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, H2 chemisorption, temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), Scanning electron microscopy, H2 temperature-programmed desorption, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) of the calcined-reduced samples. Chlorine retention was observed on zinc-containing samples. An unexpected ZnNb2O6 oxide phase, ascribed to a selectivity increase with less activity loss, was obtained for the supports at lower temperatures than those related on the literature. A very complex electronic environment of Ru- and Zn-containing species interactions was observed by TPR. The presence of surface-reduced (Ru0) and partially reduced (Ruδ+) Ru species observed by XPS justified well, respectively, the activity and selectivity achieved with every catalyst. The addition of water as a solvent resulted in very constant yield to cyclohexene, as expected, despite activity diminution due to low solubility of the reactants.  相似文献

A miniaturized capillary electrophoresis system coupled to a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor on a microfluidic platform fabricated from PDMS is detailed. A previously described split-flow injection technique is first utilized to manipulate sample into the microfluidic chip, followed by separation within the fused-silica capillary and final off-capillary detection of analytes via SPR. Instead of using commercial SPR flow cells requiring relatively large detection volumes, samples of less than 1 nL volume are utilized. The interface between the CE system and SPR sensor made it possible to detect minute volumes of sample with minimal dispersion. The flow cell has the potential to be applicable to miniaturized flow-injection (FI) systems where submicroliter volumes of sample are frequently only available for analysis. The components present in solution, but not bound to the sensor surface, were also investigated. The sensitivity of the CE-SPR system was similar to that found in UV-spectrometric instruments and nonchromophoric components could also be measured.  相似文献

The present study aimed to evaluate the photoprotective effects of cosmetic formulations containing a dispersion of liposome with magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (MAP), alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) and kinetin, as well as their effects on the hydration and viscoelastic skin properties. The photoprotection was determined in vitro (antioxidant activity) and in vivo on UV-irradiated hairless mouse skin. The hydration effects were performed with the application of the formulations under study on the forearm of human volunteers and skin conditions were analyzed before and after a single application and daily applications during 4 weeks in terms of transepidermal water loss (TEWL), skin moisture and viscoelastic properties. The raw material under study possessed free-radical scavenging activity and the formulation with it protected hairless mouse skin barrier function against UV damage. After 4 weeks of application on human skin, the formulation under study enhanced stratum corneum skin moisture and also showed hydration effects in deeper layers of the skin. Thus, it can be concluded that the cosmetic formulation containing a dispersion of liposome with MAP, ALA and kinetin under study showed photoprotective effects in skin barrier function as well as pronounced hydration effects on human skin, which suggests that this dispersion has potential antiaging effects.  相似文献

Chemically stable ester derivatives of vitamins A, C and E have become a focus of interest for their role in the satisfactory results in skin aging treatments. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to evaluate the physical and chemical stability of a cosmetic formulation containing 1% retinyl palmitate, ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate and tocopheryl acetate, alone or in combination. In the studies of physical stability, a Brookfield rheometer was used to determine rheological behavior of formulations containing the vitamins. Chemical stability was determined by HPLC on a Shimadzu system with UV detection. Results showed that formulations had pseudoplastic behavior and that vitamins did not alter their apparent viscosity and thixotropy. In the chemical stability studies, first-order reaction equations were used for determinations of the shelf-life of vitamins derivatives considering a remaining concentration of 85%. Combined vitamins in a single formulation had a slightly lower degradation rate as compared to different preparations containing only one of the vitamins. Considering that many cosmetic formulations contain vitamin combinations it is suggested that the present study may contribute to the development of more stable formulations containing liposoluble vitamins.  相似文献

Systematic computational studies of stannylene derivatives SnX(2)/SnXY and XSnR/SnR(2)/RSnR' were carried out using density functional theory. The basis sets used for H, F, Cl, Br, C, Si, and Ge atoms are of double-ζ plus polarization quality with additional s- and p-type diffuse functions, denoted DZP++. For the iodine and tin atoms, the Stuttgart-Dresden basis sets, with relativistic small-core effective core potentials (ECP), are used. All geometries are fully optimized with three functionals (BHLYP, BLYP, and B3LYP). Harmonic vibrational wavenumber analyses are performed to evaluate zero-point energy corrections and to determine the nature of the stationary points located. Predicted are four types of neutral-anion separations, plus adiabatic ionization energies (E(IE)) and singlet-triplet energy gaps (ΔE(S-T)). The dependence of all three energetic properties upon choice of substituent is remarkably strong. The EA(ad(ZPVE)) values (eV) obtained with the B3LYP functional range from 0.70 eV [Sn(CH(3))(2)] to 2.36 eV [SnI(2)]. The computed E(IE) values lie between 7.33 eV [Sn(SnH(3))(2)] and 11.15 eV [SnF(2)], while the singlet-triplet splittings range from 0.60 eV [Sn(SnH(3))(2)] to 3.40 eV [SnF(2)]. The geometries and energetics compare satisfactorily with the few available experiments, while most of these species are investigated for the first time. Some unusual structures are encountered for the SnXI(+) (X = F, Cl, and Br) cations. The structural parameters and energetics are discussed and compared with the carbene, silylene, and germylene analogues.  相似文献
