Total synthesis of glypetelotine

A total synthesis of glypetelotine, the first sulphur-containing indole alkaloid from the leaf extracts of Glycosmis petelotii collected in the north of Vietnam, was described from indole through 6 steps. The structure of the glypetelotine was confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and MS analysis. The spectral data of synthetic compound was identical with those of natural compound.     

A new nor-sesquiterpene lactone from Ainsliaea fulvioides

A new nor-sesquiterpene lactone ainsliatone A (1) was isolated from the aerial parts of A insliaea fulvioides.Its structure was established by the basis of spectroscopic methods and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.     

Particle separation by dielectrophoresis

The application of dielectrophoresis to particle discrimination, separation, and fractionation is reviewed, some advantages and disadvantages of currently available approaches are considered, and some caveats are noted.     

Adaptive Synchronization of Interconnected Linear Systems

In this paper we introduce the concept of an adaptive synchronizationcontroller. Synchronization is modelled as an adaptive trackingproblem for families of interconnected linear systems. Stabilizationand tracking results are obtained for minimum-phase systems.     

Dielectric cell separation of fine needle aspirates from tumor xenografts

As an approach to isolating tumor cells from fine needle biopsy specimens, we investigated a dielectric cell preparation method using an in vivo xenographic tumor model. Cultured human MDA-MB-435 tumor cells were grown as solid tumors in nude mice and fine needle aspiration biopsies were conducted. Biopsied cells were suspended in sucrose medium and collected on slides patterned with microelectrode arrays (electrosmears) energized by electrical signals in the range 10 to 960 kHz. The unlabeled cells adhered to characteristic regions of the slides in accordance with their morphology as a result of dielectric forces. Tumor cells were trapped between 40 and 60 kHz and were separated according to whether they were mitotic, large and complex, or small. Damaged tumor cells were captured at between 60 and 120 kHz; granulocytes between 70 and 90 kHz; lymphocytes between 85 and 105 kHz; healthy erythrocytes between 140 and 180 kHz, and damaged erythrocytes above 180 kHz. Using intrinsic cell characteristics, the electrosmear presented cell subpopulations from fine needle aspiration biopsy specimens in a manner that is compatible with automated slide-based analysis systems. The approach has the potential to facilitate the analysis of the role of cell subpopulations in disease.     

A new coumarin from Wikstroemia indica （L.） C. A. Mey

A new coumadn was obtained from the stems and roots of Wikstroemia indica (L.) C.A.Mey.Its structure was elucidated as methyl 3-(2-hydroxy-4-(7-hydroxy-6-methoxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yloxy) phenyl) propanoate by spectroscopic methods.     

Gallium trichloride-catalyzed conjugate addition of indole and pyrrole to α,β-unsaturated ketones in aqueous media

Michael addition of indole and pyrrole to a variety ofα,β-unsaturated ketones was efficiently promoted by a catalytic amount of GaCl_3 in aqueous media to afford the corresponding products in good to excellent yields.     

Synthesis and biological evaluation of novel steroid-linked nitrogen mustards

Two novel steroid-linked nitrogen mustard conjugates 1a and 1b were synthesized by using estrogenic acid 4 coupled with aniline mustard 8 and phenol mustard 13 in an esterification or amidation procedure. Preliminary cytotoxic screening on cancer cell lines in vitro showed that, the steroid-ester linked nitrogen mustard conjugate la exhibited obvious increasing of activities.     

Oxyphyllones A and B,novel sesquiterpenes with an unusual 4,5-secoeudesmane skeleton from Alpinia oxyphylla

Two novel 4,5-secoeudesmane sesquiterpenoids,oxyphyllones A(1) and B(2) were isolated from the fruits of Alpinia oxyphylla.Their structures were established by spectroscopic methods including 1D and 2D NMR spectra.These two compounds are the first example of naturally occurring sesquiterpenoids with a 4,5-secoeudesmane skeleton in the family of Zingiberaceae and oxyphyllone A(1) is the first 4,5-secoeudesmane type of 13-norsesquiterpenoid.Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited no cytotoxicities against three cancer...
