Marine toxins targeting the actin cytoskeleton represent a new and promising class of anti-cancer compounds. Here we present a 2.0 A resolution structure of swinholide A, a marine macrolide, bound to two actin molecules. The structure demonstrates that the actin dimer in the complex does not represent a physiologically relevant entity, for the two actin molecules do not interact with each other. The swinholide A actin binding site is the same as that targeted by toxins of the trisoxazole family and numerous actin binding proteins, highlighting the importance of this site in actin polymerization. The observed structure reveals the mechanism of action of swinholide A and provides a structural framework about which to design new agents directed at the cytoskeleton. 相似文献

Grafting of tetrafluoroethylene onto polyethylene was carried out by a pre-irradiation technique. It was found that grafting proceeds very rapidly at -35°C in the liquid phase of tetrafluoroethylene. Takathene, which was prepared by a radiation process at Takasaki Radiation Chemistry Research Establishment, was found to be most suitable for grafting compared to other polyethylenes. The specific surface is extremely high in the Takathene, and this may be the most important reason for the high grafting speed. On the other hand, IR measurements of the grafted copolymers showed a characteristic absorption band at 1110 cm-1 which may be attributed to the structure of the grafting (branching) position. It was also found that grafted polytetrafluoroethylene can be crystallized during grafting. This is the first case of grafted polymers being in a crystalline state. 相似文献

A facile method to prepare one-dimensional (1D) organometallic nanomaterials from various ethynyl-substituted molecules is reported. The reactions of 3-chloro-1-ethynylbenzene, p-tBu-phenylacetylene and 4-ethynylbiphenyl with Cu+ ions in acetonitrile yield nanorod-shaped copper acetylides (Cu−C≡C−R) crystals. In the case of linear alkynes, namely, propyne, 1-pentyne and 1-hexyne, it was found that using an aqueous ammonia/ethanol mixed solvent instead of acetonitrile is a better approach to obtain 1D nanostructures. This procedure also enables us to prepare functional 1D nanomaterials. We demonstrate the preparation of a paramagnetic nanorod from the organic radical p-ethynylphenyl nitronyl nitroxide, and fluorescent nanorods from 9-ethynylphenanthrene and 2-ethynyl-9,9′-spirobifluorene. 相似文献

BABYSCAN, a whole-body counter (WBC) for small children was developed in 2013, and units have been installed at three hospitals in Fukushima Prefecture. Between December, 2013 and March, 2015, 2707 children between the ages of 0 and 11 have been scanned, and none had detectable levels of radioactive cesium. The minimum detectable activities (MDAs) for 137Cs were ≤3.5 Bq kg−1 for ages 0–1, decreasing to ≤2 Bq kg−1 for ages 10–11. Including the 134Cs contribution, these translate to a maximum committed effective dose of ∼16 µSv y−1 even for newborn babies, and therefore the internal exposure risks can be considered negligibly small.Analysis of the questionnaire filled out by the parents of the scanned children regarding their families’ food and water consumption revealed that the majority of children residing in the town of Miharu regularly consume local or home-grown rice and vegetables, while in Minamisoma, a majority avoid tap water and produce from Fukushima. The data show, however, no correlation between consumption of locally produced food and water and the children’s body burdens. 相似文献

We developed a growth method for forming a GaAs quantum well contained in an AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure nanowire using selective-area metal organic vapor phase epitaxy. To find the optimum growth condition of AlGaAs nanowires, we changed the growth temperature between 800 and 850 °C and found that best uniformity of the shape and the size was obtained near 800 °C but lateral growth of AlGaAs became larger, which resulted in a wide GaAs quantum well grown on the top (1 1 1)B facet of the AlGaAs nanowire. To form the GaAs quantum well with a reduced lateral size atop the AlGaAs nanowire, a GaAs core nanowire about 100 nm in diameter was grown before the AlGaAs growth, which reduced the lateral size of AlGaAs to roughly half compared with that without the GaAs core. Photoluminescence measurement at 4.2 K indicated spectral peaks of the GaAs quantum wells about 60 meV higher than the acceptor-related recombination emission peak of GaAs near 1.5 eV. The photoluminescence peak energy showed a blue shift of about 15 meV, from 1.546 to 1.560 eV, as the growth time of the GaAs quantum well was decreased from 8 to 3 s. Transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis of an AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure nanowire indicated a GaAs quantum well with a thickness of 5−20 nm buried along the 〈1 1 1〉 direction between the AlGaAs shells, showing a successful fabrication of the GaAs quantum well. 相似文献

Mesoporous SiO2–TiO2 was synthesized by the sol–gel method using Si(OC2H5)4, Ti(OC2H5)4, and stearyltrimethylammonium chloride. By using acetylacetone as the capping agent of Ti(OC2H5)4, homogeneous SiO2–TiO2 composite was obtained.
