Low-frequency electrostatic drift waves are studied in an inhomogeneous dust magnetoplasma containing dust with components of opposite polarity. The drift waves are driven by the magnetic-field-aligned (parallel) sheared flows in the presence of electrons and ions. Due to sheared flow in the linear regime, the electrostatic dust drift waves become unstable. The conditions of mode instability, with the effects of dust streaming and opposite polarity, are studied. These are excited modes which gain large amplitudes and exhibit interactions among themselves. The interaction is governed by the Hasegawa-Mima (HM) nonlinear equation with vector nonlinearity. The stationary solutions of the HM equation in the form of a vortex chain and a dipolar vortex, including effects of dust polarity and electron (ion) temperatures, are studied. We demonstrate that betatron x-ray radiation accurately provides direct imaging of electrons trajectories accelerated in laser wakefields. Experimental far field x-ray beam profiles reveal that electrons can follow similar transverse trajectories with typical excursions of 1.5 microm+/-0.5 microm in the plane of laser polarization and 0.7 microm+/-0.2 microm in the plane perpendicular. 相似文献

We report the metal organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) growth and characterization of non‐polar (11 0) a ‐plane Alx Ga1–xN on (1 02) r ‐plane sapphire substrates over the entire composition range. Alx Ga1–xN samples with ~0.8 μm thick layers and with x = 0, 0.18, 0.38, 0.46, 0.66, and 1.0 have been grown on r ‐plane sapphire substrates. The layer quality can be improved by using a 3‐stage AlN nucleation layer and appropriate V/III ratio switching following nucleation. All a ‐plane AlGaN epilayers show an anisotropic in‐plane mosaicity, strongly influenced by Al incorporation and growth conditions. Careful lattice parameter measurements show anisotropic in‐plane strain that results in an orthorhombic distortion of the hexagonal unit cell, making Al composition determination from X‐ray diffraction difficult. A bi-disperse granular gas in an asymmetrical two-compartment system is studied experimentally.The presence of asymmetry within the range of our experimental parameters results in a directed segregated state and a directed clustering state.This deterministic system does not depend on the initial conditions.A modified flux model based on Lohse’s flux model for bi-disperse granular gases is derived.The modified flux model explains qualitatively the experimental results. 相似文献

Composites, containing different concentrations of palladium (II) acetylacetonate in polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) matrix were prepared by vigorous mixing. PMMA was prepared by solution polymerization technique. The composites were irradiated with a 120 MeV Ni10+ beam at two different fluences of 1×1011 and 5×1012 ions/cm2 to study ion-induced effects on their dielectric, structural properties and surface morphology. AC electrical properties of these samples were studied in the frequency range 100 Hz to 10 MHz. The dielectric permittivity/loss shows frequency dependent behavior and it obeys the universal law of dielectric (i.e. ?α f n?1) for pristine and irradiated samples at high frequency. The crystalline size and crystallinity of the composites were studied by X-ray diffraction analysis. Decrease in peak intensity after irradiation signifies the amorphization which is also responsible for decrease in T g as obtained by means of differential scanning calorimetry measurement. Fourier transform infrared spectra also support this result. Surface roughness increases upon irradiation as observed from scanning electron microscopy. 相似文献

Spectrally resolved laser-induced fluorescence technique was used to uniquely assign total angular momentum (J) values to high-lying even-parity energy levels of atomic samarium. We have determined the hot carrier energy loss rate to the lattice by measuring the cooling curve of a photoexcited hot plasma in In0.53Ga0.47As. These measurements were made by using a sensitive upconversion technique to measure the infrared (1.2−1.6 μm) luminescence with 10 ps time resolution. We find the carrier energy loss rate to be about an order of magnitude smaller than predicted by a simple model, and surprisingly insensitive to carrier density at high densities. 相似文献
