Site-Selective 1,2-Dicarbofunctionalization of Vinyl Boronates through Dual Catalysis

A modular, site-selective 1,2-dicarbofunctionalization of vinyl boronates with organic halides through dual catalysis is described. This reaction proceeds under mild conditions and is characterized by excellent chemo- and regioselectivity. It thus represents a complementary new technique for preparing densely functionalized alkyl boron architectures from simple and accessible precursors.     

Effectiveness of Quaternary Ammonium in Reducing Microbial Load on Eggs

Table eggs are an affordable yet nutritious protein source for humans. Unfortunately, eggs are a vector for bacteria that could cause foodborne illness. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a quaternary ammonium compound (quat) sanitizer against aerobic mesophilic bacteria, yeast, and mold load on the eggshell surface of free-range and commercial farms and the post-treatment effect on microbial load during storage. Total aerobic mesophilic bacteria, yeast, and molds were enumerated using plate count techniques. The efficacy of the quaternary ammonium sanitizer (quat) was tested using two levels: full factorial with two replicates for corner points, factor A (maximum: 200 ppm, minimum: 100 ppm) and factor B (maximum: 15 min, minimum: 5 min). Quat sanitizer significantly (p < 0.05) reduced approximately 4 log10 CFU/cm² of the aerobic mesophilic bacteria, 1.5 to 2.5 log10 CFU/cm² of the mold population, and 1.5 to 2 log10 CFU/cm² of the yeast population. However, there was no significant (p ≥ 0.05) response observed between individual factor levels (maximum and minimum), and two-way interaction terms were also not statistically significant (p ≥ 0.05). A low (<1 log10 CFU/cm²) aerobic mesophilic bacteria trend was observed when shell eggs were stored in a cold environment up to the production expiry date. No internal microbial load was observed; thus, it was postulated that washing with quat sanitizer discreetly (without physically damaging the eggshell) does not facilitate microbial penetration during storage at either room temperature or cold storage. Current study findings demonstrated that the quat sanitizer effectively reduced the microbial population on eggshells without promoting internal microbial growth.     

强震条件下双面坡变形破坏机理的振动台物理模拟试验研究

5·12汶川地震引发了数以万计的崩塌、滑坡、泥石流等地质灾害。为了研究双面坡在强震条件下的动力响应规律,本文在大量野外调查的基础上,采用振动台物理模拟试验手段,设计完成了四类11个模型试验,从改变模型的坡度和坡顶宽度、软岩硬岩结合、阶梯状坡形等角度,较系统地研究了双面坡在强震作用下的响应规律。试验结果显示：强震条件下地震水平惯性力是导致边坡破坏的主要原因; 在地震情况下边坡变形破坏表现出明显的初动破坏效应; 振动过程中双坡具有明显的共剪效应,坡面为阶梯状时其共剪效应更明显; 坡体结构为上软下硬时下部硬岩对振动具有一定的放大效应,上硬下软时坡体易整体偏移产生变形破坏。试验结论与实际情况基本符合。     

Synthesis of Cu^Ⅱ/ZIF-8 Metal-organic Framework Catalyst and Its Application in the Aerobic Oxidation of Alcohols

The tliree-dimensional copper-doped zeolitic imidazolate framework ZIF-8(Cu^Ⅱ/ZIF-8) was prepared by a metal ion exchange process, using reaction of three different copper salts, zinc nitrate hexahydrate[Zn(NO)3·6H2O] and 2?methylimidazole(2-MelM) under nitrogen atmosphere at the room temperature. The TEM and PXRD results indicated that the morphology of Cu^Ⅱ/ZIF-8 was rhombic dodecahedron and the structure was intact after copper was doped into the porous ZIF-8. The synthesized Cu(NO3)2/ZIF-8 heterogeneous catalyst showed an excellent activity for tlie aerobic oxidation of primary alcohols employing molecular oxygen as oxidant. Moreover, tlie Cu(NO3)2/ZIF-8 heterogeneous catalyst can cycled 15 times without leaching of copper.

Physical layer data encryption using two-level constellation masking in 3D-CAP-PON

A novel physical layer data encryption scheme using two-level constellation masking in three-dimensional(3D)carrier-less amplitude and phase modulation(CAP)passive optical network(PON)is proposed in this Letter.The chaotic sequence generated by Chua’s circuit model realizes two-level encryption of displacement masking and constellation rotation for3 D constellations.We successfully conduct an experiment demonstrating 8.7 Gb/s 3 D-CAP-8 data transmission over25 km standard single-mode fiber.With two-level constellation masking,a key space size of 2.1×1085 is achieved to bring about high security and good encryption performance,suggesting broad application prospects in future short-range secure communications.     

Rapid identification of cervus antlers by species-specific PCR assay

Abstract

A rapid PCR technology was developed to differentiate Cervus antlers species and adulteration based on the difference in mitochondrial genome. Three specifically designed primer sets were confirmed to have high inter-species specificity and good intra-species stability. Limits of detection were estimated to be 1?ng of genomes for reindeer and 10?ng for the other species. Especially, when the mixture of Cervus antlers and reindeer or sambar was assayed, these primer sets still exhibited strong capability of differentiation but not the conventional COI barcoding. By using the newly developed approach, five batches out of fourteen commercial Cervus antler products were identified to be fake products made from reindeer antlers. It has shown its good potential to be extensively applied in the identification of counterfeits or adulterates of Cornu Chinese medicines for their pulverized and processed form, and even the traditional Chinese patent medicines composed of these species.
