Herein, we discuss the analyses and quantification of the different components in porphyrin mixtures, prepared from p-anisaldehyde, p-tolualdehyde, and 5-(4-bromophenyl)-dipyrromethane with acid catalysis, using NMR and HPLC. The advantages and disadvantages of these analytical methods are emphasized. Due to the similar size of a bromine atom and a methyl group it was possible to grow crystals suitable for X-ray crystallographic studies from a mixture of porphyrins, where the 4-position of the meso-phenyl rings was either substituted with methyl groups or bromine atoms. We also show that X-ray studies are inferior to NMR analysis for determining the components in a porphyrin mixture. 相似文献

The syntheses and properties of expanded 4-tert-butyl-mercaptocalix[4]arenes, in which the methylene linkers are replaced by −CH2NRCH2− or −CH2NRCH2− and −CH2NRCH2CH2CH2NRCH2− units, are described. The new macrocycles were obtained in a step-wise manner, utilizing fully protected, i. e. S-alkylated, derivatives of the oxidation-sensitive thiophenols in the cyclisation steps. Reductive cleavage of the macrobicyclic or macrotricyclic intermediates ( 6 , 7 , 11 ) afforded the free thiophenols (H4 8 , H4 9 , and H4 12 ) in preparative yields as their hydrochloride salts. The protected proligands can exist in two conformations, resembling the “cone” and “1,3-alternate” conformations found for the parent calix[4]arenes. The free macrocycles do not show conformational isomerism, but are readily oxidized forming intramolecular disulfide linkages. Preliminary complexation experiments show that these expanded mercaptocalixarenes can serve as supporting ligands for tetranuclear thiolato clusters. 相似文献

There are thousands of papers published every year investigating the properties and possible applications of ionic liquids. Industrial use of these exceptional fluids requires adequate understanding of their physical properties, in order to create the ionic liquid that will optimally suit the application. Computational property prediction arose from the urgent need to minimise the time and cost that would be required to experimentally test different combinations of ions. This review discusses the use of machine learning algorithms as property prediction tools for ionic liquids (either as standalone methods or in conjunction with molecular dynamics simulations), presents common problems of training datasets and proposes ways that could lead to more accurate and efficient models.In this review article, the authors discuss the use of machine learning algorithms as tools for the prediction of physical and chemical properties of ionic liquids. 相似文献

We report a new synthesis of a 10,20-diphenyl-5,15-bis(4-cyanophenyl)porphyrin (1) and its reduction to give 10,20-diphenyl-5,15-bis(4-formylphenyl)porphyrin (2). When the conducting polymer poly(2',5'-dioctyl-4,4' '-terphenylenecyanovinylene) was prepared in the presence of 2, we obtained a three-domain structure, compound 3, consisting of two homopolymer blocks (J domains) with the porphyrin dye molecule (P domain) in the middle. The JPJ assembly was subjected to photophysical studies where we showed that the J domain could serve as a light-harvesting antenna for the P domain. 相似文献

Calcium carbonate biomineralization uses complex assemblies of macromolecules that control the nucleation, growth, and positioning of the mineral with great detail. To investigate the mechanisms involved in these processes, for many years Langmuir monolayers have been used as model systems. Here, we descibe the use of cryogenic transmission electron microscopy in combination with selected area electron diffraction as a quasi-time-resolved technique to study the very early stages of this process. In this way, we assess the evolution of morphology, polymorphic type, and crystallographic orientation of the calcium carbonate formed. For this, we used a self-assembled Langmuir monolayer of a valine-based bisureido surfactant (1) spread on a CaCl2-containing subphase and deposited on a holey carbon TEM grid. In a controlled environment, the grid is exposed to an atmosphere containing NH3 and CO2 (the (NH4)2CO3 diffusion method) for precisely determined periods of time (reaction times 30-1800 s) before it was plunged into melting ethane. This procedure allows us to observe amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) particles growing from a few tens of nanometers to hundreds of nanometers and then crystallizing to form [00.1] oriented vaterite. The vaterite in turn transforms to yield [10.0] oriented calcite. We also performed the reaction in the absence of monolayer or in the presence of a nondirective monolayer of surfactant containing an oligo(ethylene oxide) 2 head group. Both experiments also showed the formation of a transient amorphous phase followed by a direct conversion into randomly oriented calcite crystals. These results imply the specific though temporary stabilization of the (00.1) vaterite by the monolayer. However, experiments performed at higher CaCl2 concentrations show the direct conversion of ACC into [10.0] oriented calcite. Moreover, prolonged exposure to the electron beam shows that this transformation can take place as a topotactic process. The formation of the (100) calcite as final product under different conditions shows that the surfactant is very effective in directing the formation of this crystal plane. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are an extensively studied class of porous materials, which distinguish themselves from other porous polymers in their crystallinity and high degree of modularity, enabling a wide range of applications. COFs are most commonly synthesized solvothermally, which is often a time-consuming process and restricted to well-soluble precursor molecules. Synthesis of polyimide-linked COFs (PI-COFs) is further complicated by the poor reversibility of the ring-closing reaction under solvothermal conditions. Herein, we report the ionothermal synthesis of crystalline and porous PI-COFs in zinc chloride and eutectic salt mixtures. This synthesis does not require soluble precursors and the reaction time is significantly reduced as compared to standard solvothermal synthesis methods. In addition to applying the synthesis to previously reported imide COFs, a new perylene-based COF was also synthesized, which could not be obtained by the classical solvothermal route. In situ high-temperature XRPD analysis hints to the formation of precursor–salt adducts as crystalline intermediates, which then react with each other to form the COF. 相似文献

Two low‐band gap polymer series based on benzo[1,2‐b:4,5‐b′]dithiophene (BDT) and dithienylbenzothiadiazole, with different numbers of fluorine substituents on the 2,3,1‐benzothiadiazole unit, have been synthesized and explored in a comparative study of the photochemical stability and operational lifetime in flexible large area roll‐coated bulk heterojunction solar cells. The two polymer series have different side chains on the BDT unit, namely 2‐hexyldecyloxy (BDTHDO) ( P1–P3 ) or 2‐hexyldecylthiophene (BDTTHD) ( P4–P6 ). The photochemical stability clearly shows that the stability enhances along with the number of fluorine atoms incorporated on the polymer backbone. Fabrication of the polymer solar cells based on the materials was carried out in ambient atmosphere on a roll coating/printing machine employing flexible and indium‐tin‐oxide‐free plastic substrates. Solar cells based on the P4–P6 series showed the best performance, reaching efficiencies up to 3.8% for an active area of 1 cm2, due to an enhanced current compared to P1–P3 . Lifetime measurements, carried out according to international summit on OPV stability (ISOS), of encapsulated devices reveals an initial fast decay for P1–P6 in the performance followed by a much slower decay rate, still retaining 40–55% of their initial performance after 250 h of testing under ISOS‐L‐1 conditions. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
