W-Gleitgleitkinematik

The following gives some starting elements of a theory, which the author calls glide-glide-kinematics and which goes far beyond the kinematics of helical motion in ℝ ⁿ , which was studied up to now. We are mainly concerned here with “angle-preservering glide-glide-kinematics”, generalising (and giving as well some idea of) the distance-preservering glide-glide-kinematics, which we develop in a forthcoming book ([5]) in detail.      

Mass transport in anharmonic potentials

We investigate the effect of nuclear shell structure on the mass transport in low-energy heavy-ion collisions. The shell-correction energy leads to anharmonic driving potentials and thus, to nonlinear drift coefficients in the Fokker-Planck equation. Results for²³⁸U (7.42 MeV/nucleon)+²³⁸U are presented. The drift towards the closed Pb-shell enhances the fluctuations in the mass transport and provides an explanation for the large variances found experimentally. Local maxima in the mass distribution at the shell minima disappear due to the temperature dependence of the driving potential.     

Muonic x-ray intensity measurements on a highT c superconductor

Muonic x-ray spectra from the high-T _c superconductor YBa₂Cu₃O_6.95 have been measured in the superconducting and normal states. No significant differences were found between the two spectra when comparing the intensities of 27 lines.Dedicated to Prof. Dr. H. J. Mang on the occasion of his 60th birthday     

The finite section method for Moore-Penrose inversion of Toeplitz operators

It is shown that for certain classes of infinite block Toeplitz matricesT(a)=[a _j-k ] ₀ the Moore-Penrose inverses of the finite sectionT _n (a)=[a _j-k ] ₀ ^n–1 converge to the Moore-Penrose inverse ofT(a). Furthermore the convergence for modified finite section methods and the finite section method for Wiener-Hopf integral and related operators are studied.     

On the evolution of the mass asymmetry in damped heavy-ion collisions

TotaT kinetic energy vs. fragment mass distributions have been measured in the reactions of⁶⁴Zn projectiles with¹¹⁴Sn,^natAg and¹³⁹La nuclei at incidence energies of 20–50% above the Coulomb barrier. Conclusions are drawn on the possible influence of nuclear structure effects on the energy dissipation and the mass drift behaviour of the present collision systems.     

Picosecond dynamics of the photoinduced spin polarization in epitaxial (Ga,Mn)as films

Static and time-resolved magneto-optical spectra of the ferromagnetic semiconductor (Ga,Mn)As show that a pulsed photoexcitation with a fluence of 10 microJ/cm(2) is equivalent to the application of an external magnetic field of about 1 mT, which relaxes with a decay time of 30 ps. This relaxation is attributed to the spin relaxation of electrons in the conduction band and is found to be not affected by interactions with Mn ions.     

Control of single emitter radiation by polarization- and position-dependent activation of dark antenna modes

We study the modification of the decay rates of a single dipolar emitter positioned in the vicinity of metallic linear nanoantennas when higher-order plasmonic excitations are induced. We show that it is possible to effectively tune the enhancement or suppression of both the radiative and nonradiative decay processes by controlling the position and orientation of the dipole with respect to the antenna. Transverse polarization of a single emitter, with respect to the antenna axis, located at the center of the antenna activates dark antenna modes that modify dramatically both the intensity and the spectral features of the decay rates.     

Carbon-13 Assignments and Revision of the Stereostructures of the Cadinanes 2-Hydroxy-8α-angeloyloxycalamenene and 2-Hydroxy-8α-hydroxycalamenene

The two known cadinanes 2-hydroxy-8α-hydroxycalamenene and 2-hydroxy-8α-angeloyloxycalamenene were isolated from a Louisiana population of Heterotheca subaxillaris.

Their ¹³C NMR spectra were fully assigned by the application of HETCOR, COLOC, COSY, NOESY and DEPT experiments. It was shown on the basis of NOESY experiments that both cadinanes require revision at the stereogenic centre C-7.
