Loss of continuum Lorentz invariance in gauge theories on a triangular lattice

On a triangular lattice, a weakly chiral lagrangian of interacting bosons and fermions is constructed to be naturally invariant under the triangular symmetry. The continuum limit of the resulting field theory is not Lorentz invariant. We explicitly show this for the propagator of the massive Schwinger model.     

Connection between a Cauchy system representation of Kalaba and Fourier transforms

Recently R.E. Kalaba reduced the solution of a system of integral equations to the solution of a Cauchy system. In this paper we derive the same Cauchy system via the Wiener-Hopt procedure.

Paley graphs satisfy all first-order adjacency axioms

A graph satisfies Axiom n if, for any sequence of 2n of its points, there is another point adjacent to the first n and not to any of the last n. We show that, for each n, all sufficiently large Paley graphs satisfy Axiom n. From this we conclude at once that several properties of graphs are not first order, including self-complementarity and regularity.

Wannier functions with a simple model potential

Wannier functions for the two lowest bands are calculated for a one-dimensional two Fourier component potential. These functions show the general behavior predicted by Kohn.     

Condensation of benzyl chloride catalyzed by group II metals

The polymerization of benzyl chloride in the presence of various group II metal salts has been investigated. The extent of reaction and the relative activities of various salts were determined by measurement of the evolved HCl as a function of time. Formation, in situ, of an active catalyst is proposed.
