Photoionization of protein ions: The ionization energy of polyprotonated protein cations in the gas phase measured using VUV synchrotron radiation appears to be correlated with the charge state z of the protein and its tertiary structure. A simple electrostatic model accounts for the results and also shows predictive capabilities to derive a mean radius R(m) of the protein ion from the ionization energy, and vice versa.  相似文献

We examine in this work a model problem relevant to the liquid displacement that occurs in lithographic printing processes. The model problem consists of two stratified thin liquid films confined between parallel plates, one of which is chemically heterogeneous. The films are assumed to be thin enough so that intermolecular forces are important and the lubrication approximation can be invoked. Both linear stability analysis and nonlinear simulations are applied to a partial differential equation governing the behavior of the liquid-liquid interface. The results provide physical insights into and numerical estimates of the smallest and largest feature sizes that can be printed, as well as the minimum spacing between feature sizes that can be tolerated. The results also provide insight into experimental observations on a closely related process, wire-wound rod coating on chemically patterned surfaces. The work presented here has important implications for the production of electronic devices and displays by lithographic printing, as well as for other processes that rely on coating and printing on chemically patterned surfaces.  相似文献

Mn inclusion in the oxide based diluted magnetic semiconductor Zn1−x Mn x O (x = 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, and 0.10) grown by standard high temperature solid state reaction technique has been studied. The local and average structure of Zn1−x Mn x O was characterized by the super resolution technique maximum entropy method and pair distribution function analysis using the X-ray powder data. Magnetic studies on this material using a Vibrating Sample Magnetometer were also carried out to ascertain the doping level in Zn1−x Mn x O.  相似文献

The 3H-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridazine, 1H-imidazo[4,5-d]pyridazine, and 1H-benzimidazole analogues of the potent anticonvulsant purine 9-(2-fluorobenzyl)-6-methylamino-9H-purine (1, 78U79) were synthesized and tested for anticonvulsant activity. The 3H-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridazines 8 and 9 were prepared in five stages from 3,4,5-trichloropyridazine (2) . The 1H-imidazolo[4,5-d]pyridazine 15 was synthesized in four stages from 5-[(benzyloxy)methyl]-1,5-dihydro-4H-imidazo[4,5-d] pyridazin-4-one (10a) . The benz-imidazole analogues 18 and 20 were prepared from 2,6-dinitroaniline in three stages. These compounds were one-tenth or less as active as 1 in protecting rats against maximal electroshock-induced seizures.  相似文献

Tetrapyrazinoporphyrazine substituted at its periphery with eight antioxidant 3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl groups behaves as a turn-on fluorescent sensor for fluoride anions. Conversely, the precursor antioxidant-substituted 1,2-phthalonitrile was found to act in turn-off mode suggesting that the origin of the phenomenon lies at the phenolate-substituted 1,4-pyrazinyl moiety.  相似文献

A new series of molecular dyads and pentad featuring free-base porphyrin and ruthenium phthalocyanine have been synthesized and characterized. The synthetic strategy involved reacting free-base porphyrin functionalized with one or four entities of phenylimidazole at the meso position of the porphyrin ring with ruthenium carbonyl phthalocyanine followed by chromatographic separation and purification of the products. Excitation transfer in these donor-acceptor polyads (dyad and pentad) is investigated in nonpolar toluene and polar benzonitrile solvents using both steady-state and time-resolved emission techniques. Electrochemical and computational studies suggested that the photoinduced electron transfer is a thermodynamically unfavorable process in nonpolar media but may take place in a polar environment. Selective excitation of the donor, free-base porphyrin entity, resulted in efficient excitation transfer to the acceptor, ruthenium phthalocyanine, and the position of imidazole linkage on the free-base porphyrin could be used to tune the rates of excitation transfer. The singlet excited Ru phthalocyanine thus formed instantly relaxed to the triplet state via intersystem crossing prior to returning to the ground state. Kinetics of energy transfer (k(ENT)) was monitored by performing transient absorption and emission measurements using pump-probe and up-conversion techniques in toluene, respectively, and modeled using a F?rster-type energy transfer mechanism. Such studies revealed the experimental k(ENT) values on the order of 10(10)-10(11) s(-1), which readily agreed with the theoretically estimated values. Interestingly, in polar benzonitrile solvent, additional charge transfer interactions in the case of dyads but not in the case of pentad, presumably due to the geometry/orientation consideration, were observed.  相似文献

A simple electrochemical approach was used for fabricating electrode/metal nanowire/(molecule or polymer)/electrode junctions for sensing or molecular electronics applications. The procedure for fabricating these molecule-based devices involves electropolymerization of phenol or chemisorption of alkanethiols on one set of electrodes (E1) and electrodeposition of Ag metal nano/microwires on a second electrode (E2) which is ~5 μm away from E1. Under appropriate deposition conditions, Ag nanowires grow from E2 and cross over to E1, forming a E1/(molecule or polymer)/Ag nanowire (NW)/E2 junction. The junction resistance was controlled by (1) electrodepositing polyphenol of varied densities on E1 and (2) assembling alkanethiols of different chain lengths on E1. Ag NWs at high resistance E1/polyphenol/Ag NW/E2 junctions functionalized with Pd monolayer protected clusters (MPCs) responded fast and reversibly to H(2) concentrations as low as 0.11% in a nitrogen carrier gas by a resistance decrease, likely due to volume expansion of the Pd nanoparticles, demonstrating the use of these electrochemically fabricated junctions for gas sensing applications.  相似文献

The coupling of subcritical water separation with flame ionization detection (FID) in the split mode has been investigated in this study. In order to keep the FID system stable during subcritical water separation, a Tee union was connected between the separation column and the FID system to split the water flow. The ratio of the water flow to the FID system over the flow-rate to a waste bottle varied depending on the dimension of capillary tubings and the total water flow-rate used. Separations of several carbohydrates, carboxylic acids, and amino acids were performed on commercially available columns using a laboratory-made subcritical water chromatography-FID system. The FID system was very stable in this split mode even at total flow-rate as high as 1.24 ml/min. The linear dynamic range was up to three orders of magnitude and the limit of detection (LOD) ranged from 38 to 111 ng (306-925 ng/microl injected) with split ratios of approximately 1:10 to approximately 1:17 (FID/waste bottle) for several analytes studied. However, the LOD can be significantly lowered by adjusting the dimensions of the restrictors to allow a higher percentage of the total flow to the FID system.  相似文献
