Polycrystalline samples of the n=1 Ruddlesden-Popper system Pr3−xSr1+xCrNiO8 have been synthesized over the composition range 0.0<x?1.0 either by the ceramic method or from solution. They have been characterized by an appropriate combination of diffraction methods (X-ray, neutron and electron) and magnetometry (d.c. and a.c.). All compositions having x>0.1 adopt the tetragonal space group I4/mmm; Pr2.9Sr1.1CrNiO8 adopts the orthorhombic space group Fmmm. There is no evidence of Cr/Ni cation ordering in any composition. A maximum in the zero-field cooled magnetic susceptibility is observed at a temperature Tf that decreases with increasing Sr content; 52?Tf (K)?13. The frequency dependence of Tf observed in a.c. susceptibility measurements, together with the analysis of neutron diffraction data, suggests that the atomic magnetic moments in these compositions adopt a spin-glass-like state below Tf.  相似文献

To study the physicochemical properties of the DTTA chelating moiety (H4DTTA = diethylenetriaminetetraacetic acid = N,N'-[iminobis(ethane-2,1-diyl)]bis[N-(carboxymethyl)glycine]), used in several compounds proposed as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents, the methylated derivative H4DTTA-Me (N,N'-[(methylimino)bis(ethane-2,1-diyl)]bis[N-(carboxymethyl)glycine]) was synthesized. Protonation constants of the ligand were determined in an aqueous solution by potentimetry and (1)H NMR pH titration and compared to various DTTA derivatives. Stability constants were measured for the chelates formed with Gd(3+) (log K(GdL) = 18.60 +/- 0.10) and Zn(2+) (log K(ZnL) = 17.69 +/- 0.10). A novel approach of determining the relative conditional stability constant of two paramagnetic complexes in a direct way by (1)H NMR relaxometry is presented and was used for the Gd(3+) complexes [Gd(DTTA-Me)(H2O)2](-) (L1) and [Gd(DTPA-BMA)(H2O)] (L2) [K(L1/L2)*(at pH 8.3, 25 degrees C) = 6.4 +/- 0.3]. The transmetalation reaction of the Gd(3+) complex with Zn(2+) in a phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0) was measured to be twice as fast for [Gd(DTTA-Me)(H2O)2](-) in comparison to that for [Gd(DTPA-BMA)(H2O)]. This can be rationalized by the higher affinity of Zn(2+) toward DTTA-Me(4-) if compared to DTPA-BMA(3-). The formation of a ternary complex with L-lactate, which is common for DO3A-based heptadentate complexes, has not been observed for [Gd(DTTA-Me)(H2O)2](-) as monitored by (1)H NMR relaxometric titrations. From the results, it was concluded that the heptadentate DTTA-Me(4-) behaves similarly to the commercial octadentate DTPA-BMA(3-) with respect to stability. The use of [Gd(DTTA-Me)(H2O)2](-) as an MRI contrast agent in vitro and in animal studies is conceivable, mainly at high magnetic fields, where an increase of the inner-sphere-coordination water actually seems to be the most certain way to increase the relaxivity.  相似文献

This work examines the importance of vibrational delocalization on a basicthermomechanical property of a hexagonal boron nitride monolayer, namely its thermalexpansion coefficient (TEC). Using a recently parametrized bond-order potential of theTersoff type, the TEC was theoretically obtained from the thermal variations of thelattice parameter a(T) calculated using threedifferent methods: (i) the quasiharmonic approximation; (ii) its anharmonic improvementbased on self-consistent phonons; (iii) fully anharmonic Monte Carlo simulations possiblyenhanced within the path-integral framework to account for nuclear quantum effects. Theresults obtained with the three methods are generally consistent with one another and withother recently published data, and indicate that the TEC is negative at least up to ca.700 K, quantum mechanical effects leading to a significant expansion by about 50% relativeto the classical result. Comparison with experimental data on bulk hexagonal BN suggestssignificant differences, which originate from possible inaccuracies in the model that tendto underestimate the lattice parameter itself, and most likely from the 2D nature of themonolayer and the key contribution of out-of-plane modes. The effects of isotopic purityin the natural abundances of boron are found to be insignificant.  相似文献

We study oil-in-water emulsions stabilised by pH-sensitive colloidal silica or latex particles. Depending on the composition of the continuous phase, the same type of particles and the same emulsification process lead to emulsions characterised either by large drops densely covered by the particles, or to small droplets which are weakly covered. The two kinetically stable states can be tuned reversibly by using pH or salinity as compositional stimuli. We examine the emulsions' behaviour in these two limiting cases and we discuss the possible mechanisms allowing stabilisation, especially in the case of low surface coverage.  相似文献

The vibrational spectra of clusters of coronene molecules are theoretically calculated using a mixed quantum/classical scheme, each molecule being described by a tight-binding Hamiltonian, the intermolecular forces being provided by explicit Lennard-Jones and point charge sites. The normal modes of vibrations are shown to exhibit significant variations upon clustering. In particular, for large clusters intra- and intermolecular modes tend to mix and fill the mid-infrared range. We also calculate the heat capacity of the (C24H12)8 cluster as a function of temperature, emphasizing the isomerizations that take place during melting. Quantum delocalization effects, as obtained from the Pitzer-Gwinn semiclassical approximation, are important enough to wash out all signatures of the structural transitions on the caloric curve. On the basis of a simple two-state model we estimate that clusters containing about 300 molecules are required for melting to be detected on the caloric curve.  相似文献

Levoglucosenone (LGO) is a cellulose-derived molecule that is present commercially on a multi-ton/year scale. Taking advantage of the α,β-conjugated ketone of LGO, a new citronellol-containing 5-membered lactone (HBO-citro) was synthesized through a one-pot two-step pathway involving oxa-Michael addition and Baeyer-Villiger oxidation. The solvent-free treatment of HBO-citro with NaBH4 at room temperature led to the full reduction of the lactone moiety which gave a novel fully renewable triol monomer having a citronellol side chain (Triol-citro). Noticeably, by simply changing the reducing agent, temperature and reaction duration, the partial reduction of HBO-citro can be achieved to yield a mixture of 5- and 6-membered Lactol-citro molecules. Triol-citro was chosen to prepare functional renewable polyesters having citronellol pendant chains via polycondensation reactions with diacyl chlorides having different chain lengths. Good thermal stability (Td5% up to 170 °C) and low glass transition temperatures (as low as −42 °C) were registered for the polyesters obtained. The polymers were then hydrolyzed using a commercial lipase from Thermomyces lanuginosus (Lipopan® 50 BG) to assess their biodegradability. A higher degradation profile was found for the polyesters prepared using co-monomers (acyl chlorides) having longer chain lengths. This is likely due to the decreased steric hindrance around the ester bonds which allowed enhanced accessibility of the enzyme.  相似文献
