Sinus lift elevation is an interesting method to restore bone mass at the maxilla in edentulated patients. We have investigated the histological effects of beta tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) combined with autograft bone for sinus lift elevation. A series of 14 patients who were candidate for dental implantation were grafted with β-TCP granules and morcellized autograft bone harvested at the chin. β-TCP was characterized by scanning electron microscopy and optical profilometry. Before implant placement, a small bone biopsy (2 mm in diameter) was done. The amount of residual material and newly formed bone were determined by microcomputed tomography. Histological analysis was done on undecalcified sections stained by Goldner's trichrome and osteoclast identification (TRAcP). β-TCP served as a template for bone apposition by osteoblasts onto the granules’ surface. The material was simultaneously resorbed by TRAcP positive osteoclasts and macrophages. Fragments of the material remained buried in bone trabeculae as long as 12 months post-graft but the formed bone onto the granules surface had a lamellar texture. β-TCP combined with autograft bone appears a suitable biomaterial for sinus lift augmentation before the placement of bone implants. 1-Phenylthio-3-vinyl-cyclohex-1-en-3-ol (2) has been synthesized and investigated as a new bis-annelation reagent for silyl enol ethers. Reagent 2 can be synthesized by a Grignard reaction of vinyl magnesium bromide with 3-phenylthiocyclohexenone. The reaction with silyl enol ethers takes place under Lewis acid catalysis and generally proceeds in good yields. The resulting phenylthiodienes can be hydrolyzed to enones, which have been cyclized in a homologous aldol reaction to polycyclic compounds. 相似文献

The development of natural cyclodextrins (CDs) for various industrial applications (agroalimentary, cosmetic or pharmaceutical) constitutes a continuous challenge. For the integration of these agricultural plant products in the creation of super-absorbent biodegradable and hypoallergenic materials (water-retaining agents, cosmetic hydrating and texturing, pharmaceutical and horticultural products) to replace synthetic polymers, we have developed chemical methods to access regioselectively C-6-derivatized maltooligosaccharides starting from CDs. These compounds are highly suitable for further chemical modifications and are expected to give access to a new class of polymeric materials with potential applications such as water-retaining agents in the disposable nappies industry. For the structural analysis of carbohydrates, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) offers precise results, analytical versatility and very high sensitivity. We report herein the rapid and convenient follow-up of chemical reactions, the purity evaluation of intermediates and final products, and the structural characterization of derivatized maltooligosaccharides, obtained by acidic cleavage (acetolysis) of halogenated and esterified CDs, using ESI-MS in combination with the high-resolution (HRMS) and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) capabilities of a quadrupole orthogonal time-of-flight (Q-TOF) mass spectrometer. 相似文献

Chemical retention, i.e., partition of the element between aqueous solution and mineral surface, is a key phenomenon for assessing the safety of possible nuclear waste disposal. For this purpose, the sorption of Eu(III) onto a model mineral-alpha-alumina-is studied here, including the effects of groundwater chemistry: pH and concentrations of small organic and inorganic ligands (acetate, oxalate, and carbonate anions). This work presents some experimental evidence for a synergic mechanism of sorption of europium-ligand complexes onto the alumina. Only cationic complexes were necessary to consider to model experimental results. Using the ion-exchange theory (IET) and a corresponding restricted set of parameters-exchange capacities and thermodynamic equilibrium constants-the whole set of sorption experiments of Eu(III) cationic species onto the alpha-alumina was modeled under various chemical conditions. 相似文献

Raman spectroscopy has proven its potential for the analysis of cell constituents and processes. However, sample preparation
methods compatible with clinical practice must be implemented for collection of accurate spectral information. This study
aims at assessing, using micro-Raman imaging, the effects of some routinely used fixation methods such as formalin-fixation,
formalin-fixation/air drying, cytocentrifugation, and air drying on intracellular spectral information. Data were compared
with those acquired from single living cells. In parallel to these spectral information, cell morphological modifications
that accompany sample preparation were compared. Spectral images of isolated cells were first analyzed in an unsupervised
way using hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA), which allowed delimitation of the cellular compartments. The resulting nuclei
cluster centers were compared and revealed at the molecular level that fixation induced changes in spectral information assigned
to nucleic acids and proteins. In a second approach, a supervised fitting procedure using model spectra of DNA, RNA, and proteins,
chemically extracted from living cells, revealed very small modifications at the level of the localization and quantification
of these macromolecules. Finally, HCA and principal components analysis (PCA) performed on individual spectra randomly selected
from the nuclear regions showed that formalin-fixation and cytocentrifugation are sample preparation methods that have little
impact on the biochemical information as compared to living conditions. Any step involving cell air drying seems to accentuate
the spectral deviations from the other preparation methods. It is therefore important in a future context of spectral cytology

Metopimazine (MPZ) is a phenothiazine derivative used to prevent emesis during chemotherapy where few structural analysis of the aforementioned compound have been described in the literature. Thus, this work reports, for the first time, the detailed study of fragmentation pathways of MPZ and its metabolite (AMPZ) using electrospray ionization (EI) with multistage mass spectrometry (ESI‐MSn) in positive‐ion mode. The structures of 21 product ions were identified and their accurate masses were determined using high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) experiments. Characteristic product ions of these two phenothiazine derivatives are more particularly displayed along with differences between their relative abundances and their structures checked by H/D exchange experiments.
