One-step incubation in enzyme immunoassays (EIA) for tumor markers

Conclusions One-step immunological incubation in enzyme immunoassays is a means of combining good performance characteristics with considerable savings in both handling time and disposables and a lesser chance of technical errors due to its simplicity. However, it must be emphasized that application of this principle has to be proven in each special case.

Solvent effect in the addition of thetert-butyl radical to acrylonitrile

CW and kinetic ESR spectroscopy are applied to determine rate constants for the addition of thetert-butyl radical to acrylonitrile at room temperature in various solvents. They increase with increasing solvent polarity from 2.8·10⁶ M^?1s^?1 for tetradecane to 10.2·10⁶ M^?1s^?1 for acetonitrile. This solvation effect indicates a substantial charge-transfer in the transition state for the addition and supports previous notations of the nucleophilicity oftert-butyl. A comparison oftert-butyl with hex-5-enyl and methyl is also given.     

Preparation and properties of sputtered Ho x Mo6S8−y thin films

Films of Ho _x Mo₆S_8–y , in which ferromagnetism and superconductivity can coexist, have been made by a d.c. getter sputtering method. These films have been characterized by x-rays, ion beams, measurements of resistance versus external magnetic fields and temperature, critical temperature and a.c. susceptibility. Resistance measurements in zero magnetic field did not show reentrance to the normal state in contrast to the a.c. susceptibility measurements which did show reentrant behaviour at a temperatureT _{c 2}=0.6 K.Resistance measurements in external magnetic fields parallel to the film surface show that this field induces reentrance to the normal state atT _{c 2}=0.6 K whereas in perpendicular magnetic field up to 2 kOe the films were still superconducting down to 70 mK. Such anomalous behaviour is explained in terms of a model by Tachiki et al.     

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of [Fe(Cp)2]3(Bi2Cl9)·thf

Single crystals of [Fe(Cp)₂]₃(Bi₂Cl₉)·thf were obtained from a thf solution containing ferrocene and BiCl₃. The structure shows disorder at room temperature which disappears upon cooling, coupled with a decrease in symmetry. The title compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P2₁2₁2₁ [a = 1698.64(2), b = 2318.69(3), c = 1085.66(2) pm] with three ferrocenium ions, one nonachlorodibismutate ion and one molecule of thf in the asymmetric unit.     

Syntheses of Functionalized Oligosilanes

Summary. A number of differently substituted isotetra- and isoheptasilanes were synthesized.
