Sepaconitine — A new alkaloid from Aconitum septentrionale

The structure of a new alkaloid sepaconitine isolated from the epigeal part ofAconitum septentrionale has been established on the basis of spectral characteristics.     

Syntheses of di- and tetrahydropyrroles

The constants and thermodynamic parameters of the ring-chain tautomeric equilibrium of p-substituted (benzene ring) 2,3,3-trimethyl-1-aryl-2-hydroxy-5-pyrrolidones in aqueous pyridine solution were determined by PMR spectroscopy. Conversion of the ring tautomer to the open form is accompanied by an increase in the enthalpy and entropy. The AH value decreases by a factor of 2.8 kcal/mole on passing from electron-donor substituents to electron-acceptor substituants, whereas the AS value remains approximately constant and decreases by 2–4 eu only for strong electron acceptors (COOCH₃, CN, and NO₂). Molecular structure of (3,5-diallylisocyanuratomethyl)bis(chloromethyl)phosphine oxide. Synthesis of (3,5-diallylisocyanuratomethyl)phosphine sulfides

X-Ray study of the (3,5-diallylisocyanuratomethyl)bis(chloromethyl)phosphine oxide showed that the phosphorylmethyl group is bonded to the nitrogen atom of the cycle. Reaction of the tris(chloromethyl)phosphine sulfide with sodium diallylisocyanurate gave (3,5-diallylisocyanuratomethyl)bis(chloromethyl)phosphine sulfide, and treatment of the tris(3,5-diallylisocyanuratomethyl)phosphine oxide with phosphorus pentasulfide gave a tris(3,5-diallylisocyanuratomethyl)bis(chloromethyl)phosphine sulfide.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Synthesis of oxazolidine analogs of biotin and epibiotin

dl-cis- and dl-trans-6-(4-Carboxybutyl)-2-oxo-cis-hexahydrothieno[3,4-d]oxazoles were synthesized by the action of phosgene on r-4-amino-c-3-hydroxy-c(or, respectively, )-2-(4-carboxybutyl)thiophan hydrohalides. It is shown that the acid hydrolysis of r-4-benzamido-t-3-hydroxy-c(or t)-2-(4-methoxycarbonylbutyl)thiophans is accompanied by inversion to give r-4-amino-c-3-hydroxy-c(or t)-2-(4-alkoxycarbonylbutyl)thiophans.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 4, pp. 459–465, April, 1976.     

Mechanism of the formation of carbon dioxide in the oxidation of formaldehyde

Summary The ways in which carbon dioxide is formed in the oxidation of formaldehyde at 451 were Investigated. It was shown that not more than 3–5% of the CO₂ formed can arise by the oxidation of CO. The bulk (95–91%) of the CO₂ is formed directly from formaldehyde.     

Investigation of limits of applicability of the pBRDF model for active polarimeters

The polarimetric bidirectional reflectance distribution function is modeled for active polarimeters. The applicability boundaries of the model are determined based on the comparison of the simulated and experimental data.

Crystal structure of <Emphasis Type="Italic">tris</Emphasis>(1,10-phenanthroline) iron(II) dinitrate dihydrate

The structure of tris(1,10-phenanthroline)iron(II) dinitrate dihydrate [Fe(phen)₃](NO₃)₂·2H₂O was established by X-ray diffraction analysis. The role of hydrogen bonds in crystal packing is discussed.     

Three-dimensional contact problem for a prestressed elastic body : PMM vol. 42, no. 6, 1978, pp 1080–1084

A half-space of an incompressible neo — Hookean [1,2] material subjected to a homogeneous bi-axial tension or compression along its boundary, is considered. A small deformation caused by the action of a smooth rigid stamp on the boundary of the half-space is superimposed on the initial finite deformation. An integral equation is obtained for the contact pressure. A solution of this equation is obtained for an inclined elliptic stamp with a flat base, and for an elliptic stamp with a curved base, for the cases when the extension coefficients in two directions are either identical, or differ little from each other. The influence of the inital loading on the distribution of the contact pressure, the displacement of the stamp and the form of the contact zone, is analysed.     

Aluminosilicates with different pores structure in the synthesis of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline and <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-phenyl-2-propanimine

Physicochemical characteristics of microporous zeolites of various structural type (FAU, BEA, MTW), micro-meso-macroporous zeolite (H-Ymmm), and mesoporous aluminosilicate (ASM) were studied. Their catalytic activity in the reaction of aniline with acetone was examined. It was found that 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline was the main reaction product on the catalysts H-Ymmm and ASM (selectivity up to 68% at 100% conversion of aniline), while the reaction on zeolites with microporous structure mainly gave N-phenyl-2-propanimine (selectivity up to 91%).
