In this study, the interaction of packable composite and ormocer with aqueous lactic acid solutions were determined and changes compared with those for a polyacid modified resin composite and a glass ionomer. For each material, namely Solitaire, Z‐100, Definite, Dyract AP and Vitremer, eight cylindrical specimens of 6 mm diameter and 12 mm height were prepared and weighed. They were stored individually in 20 cm3 0.02 mol?1 lactic acid solution for 1 week, then the pH was determined and the specimens reweighed. This was repeated at 1 week intervals until the specimens were 6 weeks old. The results of this study showed that; polyacid modified resin composites and resin‐modified glass‐ionomers were capable of increasing the pH of lactic acid solutions. The same groups showed an increase in mass during the first week. Composite resins and ormocer showed less increase in mass than the others. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this work, plasma electrolytic surface carburizing of pure iron in aqueous solution consisting of water, glycerin and NH4Cl was investigated. Surface carburizing was carried out in 20% glycerin solution treated at 750 °C, 800 °C, 900 °C and 950 °C temperatures for 5, 10 and 30 min. The formation of hard carbon-rich layer on the surface of pure iron was confirmed by XRD analysis. Metallographic and SEM studies revealed a rough and dense carburized layer on the surface of the pure iron. Experimental results showed that the thickness of the carburized layers changes with the time and temperature. The average thickness of the carburized layer ranged from 20 to 160 μm. The hardness of the carburized samples decreased with the distance from the surface to the interior of the test material. The average hardness values of the carburized layers on the substrate ranged 550-850 HV, while the hardness of the substrate ranged from 110 HV to 170 HV. The dominant phases formed on the pure iron were found to be a mixture of cementite (Fe3C), martensite (Fe + C) and austenite (FCC iron) confirmed by XRD. Wear resistance in all plasma electrolytic carburized samples is considerably improved in relation to the untreated specimen. After carburizing, surface roughness of the samples was increased. Friction coefficients were also increased because of high surface roughness.  相似文献

Abstract

Secondary metabolites are important components in terms of nutrition and health. Carotenoids and tocopherols, two groups of the fat-soluble components, are also included in this category. There is an increasing interest in the detection of secondary metabolites with near-infrared spectroscopy. However, the number of scientific studies for the detection of these components, especially for tocopherols in corn flour or oil samples by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy is rather limited. This study was carried out to determine the amount of carotenoids and tocopherols in flour and oil samples of 250 different maize genotypes by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy using the partial least squares regression modeling method. Liquid chromatography mass spectrophotometry was used as a reference method in order to determine the contents of five carotenoids and four tocopherol subcomponents. The estimation models were created by using the spectral data collected from ground samples, and oil samples extracted from the same flour; along with the results of the reference analysis. The reliability of these models was tested by external validation (n?=?50). The prediction models generated by the spectra taken from corn flour yielded more successful results than the models created with the spectra taken from the oil samples. Among the models compared, the one developed with the spectra taken from flour samples for lutein was the most successful. It is seen that the estimation models generated from flour samples can be used for screening purposes, though different approaches are needed to increase the success of models.  相似文献

In some applications, laser cutting of wedge surfaces cannot be avoided in sheet metal processing and the quality of the end product defines the applicability of the laser-cutting process in such situations. In the present study, CO2 laser cutting of the wedge surfaces as well as normal surfaces (normal to laser beam axis) is considered and the end product quality is assessed using the international standards for thermal cutting. The cut surfaces are examined by the optical microscopy and geometric features of the cut edges such as out of flatness and dross height are measured from the micrographs. A neural network is introduced to classify the striation patterns of the cut surfaces. It is found that the dross height and out of flatness are influenced significantly by the laser output power, particularly for wedge-cutting situation. Moreover, the cut quality improves at certain value of the laser power intensity.  相似文献

Although ultrasonic energy is widely used cleaning and degreasing of parts and assemblies in automotive and other industries, the use of ultrasonic energy in an industrial scale for textile washing is very new. This is due to the complexity of controlling the combination of chemical and mechanical effects, whereas with degreasing of machine parts only the mechanical effects is applied. The use of ultrasonic energy in dyeing PA/Lycra fabrics with reactive dyes has been studied spectrophotometrically in this work. PA/Lycra (85/15) blends have been dyed using conventional and ultrasonic dyeing techniques with three reactive dyes containing different chromophore and reactive groups. The dyeing carried out conventionally and by the use of ultrasonic techniques. The results were compared in terms of percentage exhaustion; total dye transferred to the washing bath after dyeing and the fastness properties.  相似文献

The biosorption of copper(II), lead(II), iron(III) and cobalt(II) on Bacillus sphaericus-loaded Diaion SP-850 resin for preconcentration-separation of them have been investigated. The sorbed analytes on biosorbent were eluted by using 1 mol L−1 HCl and analytes were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The influences of analytical parameters including amounts of pH, B. sphaericus, sample volume etc. on the quantitative recoveries of analytes were investigated. The effects of alkaline, earth alkaline ions and some metal ions on the retentions of the analytes on the biosorbent were also examined. Separation and preconcentration of Cu, Pb, Fe and Co ions from real samples was achieved quantitatively. The detection limits by 3 sigma for analyte ions were in the range of 0.20-0.75 μg L−1 for aqueous samples and in the range of 2.5-9.4 ng g−1 for solid samples. The validation of the procedure was performed by the analysis of the certified standard reference materials (NRCC-SLRS 4 Riverine Water, SRM 2711 Montana soil and GBW 07605 Tea). The presented method was applied to the determination of analyte ions in green tea, black tea, cultivated mushroom, boiled wheat, rice and soil samples with successfully results.  相似文献

We model the transport of a microscopic particle via a regular array of beating elastic cilia, whose tips experience an adhesive interaction with the particle's surface. At optimal adhesion strength, the average particle velocity is maximized. Using simulations spanning a range of cilia stiffness and cilia-particle adhesion strength, we explore the parameter space over which the particle can be "released", "propelled", or "trapped" by the cilia. We use a lower-order model to predict parameters for which the cilia are able to "propel" the particle. This is the first study that shows how both stiffness and adhesion strength are crucial for manipulation of particles by active cilia arrays. These results can facilitate the design of synthetic cilia that integrate adhesive and hydrodynamic interactions to selectively repel or trap particulates. Surfaces that are effective at repelling particulates are valuable for antifouling applications, while surfaces that can trap and, thus, remove particulates from the solution are useful for efficient filtration systems.  相似文献
