The decay branching fractions of the three narrow Upsilon resonances to mu(+)mu(-) have been measured by analyzing about 4.3 fb(-1) e(+)e(-) data collected with the CLEO III detector. The branching fraction B(Upsilon(1S)-->mu(+)mu(-))=(2.49+/-0.02+/-0.07)% is consistent with the current world average, but B(Upsilon(2S)-->mu(+)mu(-))=(2.03+/-0.03+/-0.08)% and B(Upsilon(3S)-->mu(+)mu(-))=(2.39+/-0.07+/-0.10)% are significantly larger than prior results. These new muonic branching fractions imply a narrower total decay width for the Upsilon(2S) and Upsilon(3S) resonances and lower other branching fractions that rely on these decays in their determination.  相似文献

Fluoroallene and 1, 3-difluoroallene are prepared in good overall yield by the addition of dichlorocarbene to vinyl fluoride and 1, 2-difluoroethylene respectively, followed by pyrolysis of the dichlorocyclopropanes and treatment of the resulting dichloropropenes with zinc. Pyrolysis of 1, 1-dichloro-2-fluorocyclopropane over zinc gives fluoroallene directly.The reaction of allene with 2, 2, 3-trifluoro-3-trifluoro- methyloxiran at 180°C as a source of difluorocarbene gives both 1, 1-difluoro-2-methylenecyclopropane and its rearrangement product 1-(difluoromethylene)cyclopropane, the latter reacting more readily with a second difluorocarbene to give 2, 2, 3, 3- tetrafluorospiropentane. In an analogous way, fluoroallene reacts with dichlorocarbene, generated from trifluoro(trichloromethyl) silane at 140°C, to give E- and Z-1, 1-dichloro-2- (fluoromethylene)cyclopropane, 1-(dichloromethylene)-2-fluorocyclopropane, and 2, 2, 3, 3-tetrachloro-4-fluorospiropentane.  相似文献

We describe new measurements of the inclusive and exclusive branching fractions for psi(2S) transitions to J/psi using e(+)e(-) collision data collected with the CLEO detector operating at CESR. All branching fractions and ratios of branching fractions reported here represent either the most precise measurements to date or the first direct measurements. Indirectly and in combination with other CLEO measurements, we determine B(chi(cJ) --> gamma(J/psi)) and B[psi(2S) --> light hadrons].  相似文献

An unusually high yielding fluorination of aminopyralid (3) using F-TEDA (SELECTFLUOR™) in warm water, followed by kinetic resolution (via iterative esterification/saponification) of the crude fluorination product with dry HCl in methanol produced pure ring-fluorinated pyridine 2 in an overall yield of 31% for the two steps.  相似文献

The common practice of advancing arguments based on current physics in support of metaphysical conclusions has been criticized on the grounds that current physics may well be wrong. A further criticism is leveled here: current physics itself depends on metaphysical assumptions, so arguing from current physics is in fact arguing from yet more metaphysics. It is shown that the metaphysical assumptions underlying current physics are often deeply embedded in the formalism in which theories are presented, and hence impossible to dismiss as mere motivational or interpretative speculation. It is then shown that such assumptions, when made explicit, can wreck havoc on otherwise-sensible philosophical arguments. It is argued in conclusion that this situation is both unlikely to be reparable just by being more careful, and unlikely to go away as further, presumably more subtle physical theories are developed.  相似文献

K+K+ and KK correlations from S+Pb collisions at 200 GeV/c per nucleon and K+K+ correlations from p+Pb collisions at 450 GeV/c per nucleon, are presented as measured by the focusing spectrometer of the NA44 experiment at CERN. Multidimensional fits are performed in order to characterize the kaon-emission volume, which is found to be smaller than the pion-emission volume.  相似文献

A single classical isoergic particle was placed in a cube and allowed to propagate for 100 ns to 10 ms. The interaction of the particle with the inner wall of the cube was modeled as a linear combination of specular and random reflection, the extent of the combination being governed by a user-defined “roughness” parameter α. As a function of α, the particle’s relative pressure and density spontaneously took on an inhomogenous distribution.  相似文献

Splitting, merging and spanwise wavenumber selection are studied during the initial development of Dean vortex pairs in a channel with mild curvature, an aspect ratio of 40, and an inner to outer radius ratio of 0.979. Two types of splitting events, and four types of merging events are evident from flow visualizations at Dean numbers from 75 to 220. These events are described in detail along with observations that occurrances of these different events are tied to spatial and temporal variations of spanwise wavenumbers of vortex pair spacing. Also discussed are frequency spectra of different events, recurrent phenomena, and the part played by splitting and merging in laminar to turbulent transition in curved channels.This study was sponsored by the Propulsion Directorate, U.S. Army Aviation Research and Technology Activity-AVSCOM, NASA-Defense Purchase Request 030030-P.
