The controlled assembly of randomly dispersed colloidal particles can provide access to materials with advanced optical and electronic properties while providing fundamental insights into self‐assembly processes in nature and nanotechnology. Typically, self‐assembled nanoparticles are prepared by exploiting electrostatic interactions, lithographic techniques, and covalently linked molecular scaffolds. This results in static morphologies that cannot be disassembled easily. On the other hand, having access to systems that can be assembled or disassembled in a controlled manner could allow for in‐depth understanding of the nanoparticles as well as rational control over the morphology and fundamental properties of the resulting constructs. If the changes in aggregation are induced by a specific external chemical stimulus, it could also permit the development of new chemosensors. Here we demonstrate the reversible assembly and disassembly of gold nanoparticles achieved by modulating the noncovalent interactions between surface‐bound calix[4]pyrroles and added bis‐imidazolium cations. We also demonstrate the use of these nanoparticles in the selective sensing of anions.  相似文献

The general design for the synthesis of AB diblock, and A2B and AB2 star copolymers based on the statistical coupling of poly(styrene) (PSt) and poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) macromolecules containing photoreactive benzophenone is presented. For this purpose, mono- and bifunctional initiators for Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP) bearing benzophenone group were synthesized and characterized. End- and mid-chain benzophenone functional PSt and PMMA with low molecular weights were obtained by ATRP using these initiators in the presence of CuBr/N,N,N′,N″,N″-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) catalytic complex. Poly(styrene-block-methyl methacrylate) (PSt-b-PMMA) copolymers were prepared by photolysis of the solutions containing end functional PSt and PMMA in THF at λ = 350 nm for 60 min in the presence of a hydrogen donor such as N-methyldiethanolamine (NMDEA). The proposed mechanism assumes hydrogen abstraction of photoexcited benzophenone moiety by NMDEA. Ketyl radicals resulting from abstraction reaction undergo radical-radical coupling to form benzpinacol structure at the core. Formation of A2B and AB2 type star copolymers upon irradiation of solutions containing appropriate combinations of end- and mid-chain functional polymers was also demonstrated. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary: New photoiniting systems for cationic polymerization acting at near UV and visible range are described. The applicability of acylgermanes as a new class of free radical promoters for photoinitiated cationic polymerization is demonstrated. Moreover, the use of substituted vinyl halides as source for readily oxidizable free radicals is presented. The polymerization of vinyl ethers can be initiated by the irradiation of substituted vinyl halides in the presence of Lewis acids such as zinc halide. Furthermore, possibilities for conducting cationic polymerization at visible range by using highly conjugated thiophene derivatives are demonstrated. Mechanistic aspects of all initiating systems are discussed.  相似文献

This paper presents significant correlations of the Bond parameter (work index, Wi and grindability, G) and the breakage parameters (specific rate of breakage, Si and the fineness value, γ) with the point load index (Is(50)). The experimental results obtained from calcite, barite, colemanite and bauxite samples have demonstrated that the Bond and breakage parameters were closely correlated with the point load index. That is, the values of G, Si and aT parameters decreased with the increase in the values of the point load index; however, the γ parameter of Bi,j increased with increasing Is(50) values.  相似文献

Treatment of 6,7-dimethyl-2,3-diphenylquinoxaline with sodium in tetrahydrofuran formed a monomeric dianion. The chemical behavior of this dianion was investigated by a variety of reagents. As the result, alkylation reactions gave 1,2-dihydro derivatives, while acylation reactions occured at 1,4-positions. Annulation of the pyrazine ring system was accomplished by treating the dianion with oligomethylene dichlorides, Cl(CH2) n Cl, n = 2–4.  相似文献

Mycosis fungoides (MF) and parapsoriasis (PP) are major dermatologic conditions for which phototherapy continues to be a successful and valuable treatment option. UVA‐1 phototherapy is effective in the management of cutaneous T‐cell mediated diseases. The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of low‐dose UVA‐1 phototherapy for the management of PP/early‐stage MF. A total of 30 patients, diagnosed with MF (n:19) or PP (n:11) were enrolled to the study. All patients were managed with low‐dose UVA‐1 (20 or 30 J cm?2). Response was assessed clinically and immunohistochemically. UVA‐1 treatment led to clinical and histological complete remission (CR) in 11 of 19 MF patients (57.9%), partial remission (PR) in three of 19 (15.8%), after a mean cumulative dose of 1665 (range, 860–3120) J cm?2 and mean number of 73 exposure (range, 43–107) sessions. Five patients with PP (45.5%) showed CR, and PR was observed in six patients with PP (54.5%) after a mean cumulative dose of 1723 (range, 1060–3030) J cm?2 and mean number of 74 exposure (range, 53–101) sessions. We conclude that low‐dose UVA‐1 therapy seems to be an effective, safe, and well‐tolerated treatment option for patients with PP/early‐stage MF.  相似文献

During the last decade, there has been a rapidly growing trend toward the use of cellphone-based devices (CBDs) in bioanalytical sciences. For example, they have been used for digital microscopy, cytometry, read-out of immunoassays and lateral flow tests, electrochemical and surface plasmon resonance based bio-sensing, colorimetric detection and healthcare monitoring, among others. Cellphone can be considered as one of the most prospective devices for the development of next-generation point-of-care (POC) diagnostics platforms, enabling mobile healthcare delivery and personalized medicine. With more than 6.5 billion cellphone subscribers worldwide and approximately 1.6 billion new devices being sold each year, cellphone technology is also creating new business and research opportunities. Many cellphone-based devices, such as those targeted for diabetic management, weight management, monitoring of blood pressure and pulse rate, have already become commercially-available in recent years. In addition to such monitoring platforms, several other CBDs are also being introduced, targeting e.g., microscopic imaging and sensing applications for medical diagnostics using novel computational algorithms and components already embedded on cellphones. This report aims to review these recent developments in CBDs for bioanalytical sciences along with some of the challenges involved and the future opportunities.

Current contaminant and residue monitoring throughout the food chain is based on sampling, transport, administration, and analysis in specialized control laboratories. This is a highly inefficient and costly process since typically more than 99 % of the samples are found to be compliant. On-site simplified prescreening may provide a scenario in which only samples that are suspect are transported and further processed. Such a prescreening can be performed using a small attachment on a cellphone. To this end, a cellphone-based imaging platform for a microsphere fluorescence immunoassay that detects the presence of anti-recombinant bovine somatotropin (rbST) antibodies in milk extracts was developed. RbST administration to cows increases their milk production, but is illegal in the EU and a public health concern in the USA. The cellphone monitors the presence of anti-rbST antibodies (rbST biomarker), which are endogenously produced upon administration of rbST and excreted in milk. The rbST biomarker present in milk extracts was captured by rbST covalently coupled to paramagnetic microspheres and labeled by quantum dot (QD)-coupled detection antibodies. The emitted fluorescence light from these captured QDs was then imaged using the cellphone camera. Additionally, a dark-field image was taken in which all microspheres present were visible. The fluorescence and dark-field microimages were analyzed using a custom-developed Android application running on the same cellphone. With this setup, the microsphere fluorescence immunoassay and cellphone-based detection were successfully applied to milk sample extracts from rbST-treated and untreated cows. An 80 % true-positive rate and 95 % true-negative rate were achieved using this setup. Next, the cellphone-based detection platform was benchmarked against a newly developed planar imaging array alternative and found to be equally performing versus the much more sophisticated alternative. Using cellphone-based on-site analysis in future residue monitoring can limit the number of samples for laboratory analysis already at an early stage. We present a field-portable lensfree tomographic microscope, which can achieve sectional imaging of a large volume (~20 mm(3)) on a chip with an axial resolution of <7 μm. In this compact tomographic imaging platform (weighing only ~110 grams), 24 light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that are each butt-coupled to a fibre-optic waveguide are controlled through a cost-effective micro-processor to sequentially illuminate the sample from different angles to record lensfree holograms of the sample that is placed on the top of a digital sensor array. In order to generate pixel super-resolved (SR) lensfree holograms and hence digitally improve the achievable lateral resolution, multiple sub-pixel shifted holograms are recorded at each illumination angle by electromagnetically actuating the fibre-optic waveguides using compact coils and magnets. These SR projection holograms obtained over an angular range of ±50° are rapidly reconstructed to yield projection images of the sample, which can then be back-projected to compute tomograms of the objects on the sensor-chip. The performance of this compact and light-weight lensfree tomographic microscope is validated by imaging micro-beads of different dimensions as well as a Hymenolepis nana egg, which is an infectious parasitic flatworm. Achieving a decent three-dimensional spatial resolution, this field-portable on-chip optical tomographic microscope might provide a useful toolset for telemedicine and high-throughput imaging applications in resource-poor settings.  相似文献
