Dark-state mechanism for the long-time transfer of excitations in a donor–acceptor system

The excitation energy transfer between a donor–acceptor pair with fixed distance apart through energy exchanging with environment is investigated. The total system is modeled as two two-level systems (TLSs) interacting with many harmonic oscillators. The pair behaves coherently or incoherently, depending on whether the dipolar coupling is stronger or weaker than the TLS–environment coupling. The environmental linear dispersion relation gives an analytical solution to the pair?s probability involving all the retardation times. We found that the long-time trapping of energy within the pair is caused by the inhibiting dark-state radiative decay when two TLSs are at half a resonant wavelength.     

Copper‐Catalyzed Annulation of 2‐Formylazoles with Aminoiodopyrazoles: Synthesis of New Heterocyclic Ring Systems

Various 2‐formylazoles underwent CuI/sparteine‐catalyzed annulation with 1‐substituted‐4‐iodo‐5‐aminopyrazoles to produce four new heterocyclic ring systems. The reaction was demonstrated for 2‐formylpyrroles, 2‐formylindoles, 2‐formylimidazole, and 3‐methyl‐5‐formylpyrazole. 3‐Substitution of the iodopyrazole was tolerated.     

Solvothermal synthesis of PbTe/SnTe hybrid nanocrystals

PbTe/SnTe hybrid nanocrystals with designed shape, chemical composition and narrow size distribution were synthesized by an efficient solvothermal approach. This approach enables mass and economical synthesis of PbTe-based nanocrystals. The organic ligands were completely removed by pretreatment with a super-hydride solution, making it possible to fabricate fully dense and robust thermoelectric devices with increased electrical conductivity.
