Preventing ice growth on infrastructure, vehicles, and appliances remains a significant engineering challenge. Damage caused by ice growth on these installations can be expensive to repair, and their failure can be dangerous. Materials such as cross-linked polymer networks make effective anti-ice coatings and can prevent ice growth: reducing the cost of infrastructure repairs and limiting downtime. A link between cross-link density and ice adhesion has been demonstrated, such that lower cross-link density materials tend toward lower ice adhesion. Here we describe a method of lowering cross-link density by incorporating the covalently bound comonomers methyl methacrylate, lauryl methacrylate, and styrene into UV-cured PDMS-based polymer networks. Cross-link density, hardness, surface roughness, and ice adhesion on these materials are tested, showing the influence of comonomer proportions on their properties. Durability is found to increase with the addition of 5, 10, and 25 wt% comonomer, with little to no effect on ice adhesion until 25 wt%, where increases in ice adhesion are observed. Coatings show promisingly low ice adhesion of ~50 kPa, maintaining this low adhesion for up to 50 deicing cycles.  相似文献

Pathways corresponding to the conformational change in nitrogen regulatory protein C are calculated using the CHARMM19 force field with an implicit solvation model. Our analysis employs the discrete path sampling approach to grow a database of local minima and transition states from the potential energy surface that contains kinetically relevant pathways. The pathways with the largest contribution to the phenomenological two-state rate constants are found to exhibit a number of structural features that agree with experimental observations. Further details of the calculated pathways for conformational change may therefore provide useful predictions of how this large-scale motion is achieved.  相似文献

Reductive unfolding studies of proteins are designed to provide information about intramolecular interactions that govern the formation (and stabilization) of the native state and about folding/unfolding pathways. By mutating Tyr92 to G, A, or L in the model protein, bovine pancreatic ribonuclease A, and through analysis of temperature factors and molecular dynamics simulations of the crystal structures of these mutants, it is demonstrated that the markedly different reductive unfolding rates and pathways of ribonuclease A and its structural homologue onconase can be attributed to a single, localized, ring-stacking interaction between Tyr92 and Pro93 in the bovine variant. The fortuitous location of this specific stabilizing interaction in a disulfide-bond-containing loop region of ribonuclease A results in the localized modulation of protein dynamics that, in turn, enhances the susceptibility of the disulfide bond to reduction leading to an alteration in the reductive unfolding behavior of the homologues. These results have important implications for folding studies involving topological determinants to obtain folding/unfolding rates and pathways, for protein structure-function prediction through fold recognition, and for predicting proteolytic cleavage sites.  相似文献

In this report, we introduced Graphene oxide‐iron oxide (GO‐Fe3O4) nanocomposites as a heterogeneous catalyst for arylation/alkylation of benzothiazoles with aldehydes and benzylic alcohols in the presence of diisopropyl azodicarboxylate (DIAD) as an oxidant which exclusively produced 2‐aryl (alkyl)‐1H–benzothizoles in moderate to excellent yields. The absence of precious metals and toxic solvent, easy product isolation, and recyclability of the GO‐Fe3O4 with no loss of activity are notable advantages of this method.  相似文献

In this article, novel Ag–ZnO/g-C3N4/GO ternary nanocomposites were prepared via co-precipitation method by 1%w Ag, 50% w g-C3N4, 10% w GO concentration and applied in dynamic membranes. The characteristics of Ag–ZnO/g-C3N4/GO nanocomposite were evaluated by various techniques such as X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray map, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, photocatalyst. The photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue was investigated under visible light. The photocatalytic efficiency of 93.43% for methylene blue degradation was obtained for Ag–ZnO/g-C3N4/GO nanocomposite after 50 min of irradiation, which was remarkably higher than that of pure ZnO, bare g-C3N4, Ag–ZnO, and Ag–ZnO/g-C3N4 at the same irradiation time. Likewise, in self-forming and pre-coated membranes, ternary nanocomposites can play a vital role in the membrane surface properties, as well as their decolorization performance. The rejection of methylene blue was 30% in pure polyethersulfone membrane, while the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue in Ag–ZnO/g-C3N4/GO nanocomposites was 88.46% and 98.86% after 10 and 15 min of irradiation in both self-forming and pre-coated dynamic membranes, respectively. Experimental results show that the dynamic membrane possesses a higher ability for degradation of MB in a shorter period of time than the static system.  相似文献
