The molar conductances of dilute solutions of benzoic and 2-, 3-, and 4-nitrobenzoic acids in binary mixtures of ethanol and 1-propanol with water have been measured at 25°C. The data were fitted to the Lee- Wheaton conductance equation for the derivation of thermodynamic dissociation constants and limiting molar conductances. The results were compared with those in literature pertaining to analogous media and with those already found in methanol-water mixtutes. The findings are interpreted in terms of solute- solvent interactions, intramolecular hydrogen bonding, resonance, the inductive effect and the substituent position. The study showed that the dissociation order decreases as 2-nitrobenzoic acid >3-nitrobenzoic acid 4-nitrobenzoic acid > benzoic acid, in all three types of alcohol-water mixtures.This paper is dedicated to Prof. W. The acid-base properties of 1-(2-thiazolylazo)-2-naphthol (TAN) in mixtures of methanol-water at 25℃and an ionic strength of 0.1 mol/L are studied by a multi-wavelength spectrophotometric method.The acidity constants of all related equilibria are estimated using the whole spectral fitting of the collected data to an established factor analysis model DATAN program was used for determination of acidity constants.The corresponding pK_a values in methanol-water mixtures were determined.There is a linear relationship between acidity constants and the mole fraction of methanol in the solvent mixtures.  相似文献

Diclofenac sodium (DS) is a drug with analgesic, antipyretic, and anti‐inflammatory properties. It is present in numerous pharmaceutical preparations. In injectable forms, it is usually accompanied by benzyl alcohol (BA) as an excipient, which is used as a blocking anesthetic (4%) and an antiseptic (4–10%). In this work a spectrophotometric methodology was applied in order to determine benzyl alcohol and diclofenac in injectable formulations by applying a multivariate calibration method. By a multivariate calibration method such as partial least squares (PLS), it is possible to obtain a model adjusted to the concentration values of the mixtures used in the calibration range. In this study, the concentration model is based on absorption spectra in the 230–320 nm range for 25 different mixtures of benzyl alcohol and diclofenac. Calibration matrix contains 10–95 and 1–50 μg mL?1 for benzyl alcohol and diclofenac, respectively. The root mean square errors of prediction (RMSEP) for benzyl alcohol and diclofenac were 3.0776 and 1.7557, respectively. The proposed method was validated by using a set of synthetic sample mixtures and subsequently applied to simultaneous determination of benzyl alcohol and diclofenac in two different pharmaceutical formulations.  相似文献

Nanofluid thermal applications considerably enhanced the heat and mass transfer patterns, which plays novel role in many bio-technological, renewable energy and engineering applications. Many prime applications off nanomaterials have been inspected in solar energy and thermal engineering issues to benefit human society. Furthermore, motile microorganisms, that have applications in petroleum sciences, enzymes biotechnology, biofuels, pharmaceutical, and other fields, greatly improve the stability of nanofluids. The current study examines the Darcy-Forchhiemer accelerating flow of Eyring-Powell nanofluid over an oscillating surface which contains the thermal radiations and gyrotactic microorganisms. The extension in the heat and mass transfer expression is suggested by following the relations of Cattaneo–Christov theory. Furthermore, the non-uniform heat source/sink phenomenon is also being focused to improve the thermal aspect of model. The flow problem model is consisting of non-linear PDEs that are solved by using the homotopy analysis scheme. After highlighting the convergence zone, physical characteristics for parameters are listed.  相似文献

To meet the growing interest in natural antibacterial agents, we evaluated the physicochemical and biological properties of the folk medicine known as “five thieves’ oil” (Polish name: olejek pięciu złodziei). Five thieves’ oil consists of a mixture of five oils: rosemary, lemon, clove, eucalyptus, and cinnamon. In this study, we performed gas chromatography, FTIR, and UV–vis spectroscopic analysis, as well as L-a-b color tests, contact angle determination, and surface tension determination. To verify its antibacterial activity, the metabolic activity and changes in cell membrane permeability of bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas were studied. As a result, it was found that among the constituent oils, the oils of clove and cinnamon were the least volatile and, at the same time, had the strongest antibacterial activity. However, a mix of all the oils also showed comparable activity, which was even more pronounced for the oils after 4 weeks of aging. This effect can be linked to the high content of terpene derivatives such as eugenol and cinnamaldehyde, which can cause changes in bacterial membrane permeability, affecting cell activity and survival. This study is the first to characterize the constituents of the popular folk medicine five thieves’ oil, confirming and explaining its strong antibacterial activity, thus constituting a significant contribution to contemporary health education.  相似文献

A simple, novel and sensitive spectrophotometric method was described for simultaneous determination of mercury and palladium. The method is based on the complex formation of mercury and palladium with Thio-Michler's Ketone (TMK) at pH 3.5. All factors affecting on the sensitivity were optimized and the linear dynamic range for determination of mercury and palladium found. The simultaneous determination of mercury and palladium mixtures by using spectrophotometric method is a difficult problem, due to spectral interferences. By multivariate calibration methods such as partial least squares (PLS), it is possible to obtain a model adjusted to the concentration values of the mixtures used in the calibration range. Orthogonal signal correction (OSC) is a preprocessing technique used for removing the information unrelated to the target variables based on constrained principal component analysis. OSC is a suitable preprocessing method for PLS calibration of mixtures without loss of prediction capacity using spectrophotometric method. In this study, the calibration model is based on absorption spectra in the 360-660 nm range for 25 different mixtures of mercury and palladium. Calibration matrices were containing 0.025-1.60 and 0.05-0.50 microg mL(-1) of mercury and palladium, respectively. The RMSEP for mercury and palladium with OSC and without OSC were 0.013, 0.006 and 0.048, 0.030, respectively. This procedure allows the simultaneous determination of mercury and palladium in synthetic and real matrix samples good reliability of the determination.  相似文献

New adsorptive anodic differential pulse stripping voltammetry method for the direct determination of morphine at trace levels in human plasma of addicts is proposed.The procedure involves an adsorptive accumulation of morphine on a HMDE,followed by oxidation of adsorbed morphine by voltammetry scan using differential pulse modulation.The optimum conditions for the analysis of morphine are pH 10.5,Eacc of -100 mV(vs.Ag/AgCl),and tacc of 120 s.The peak current is proportional to the concentration of morphine,and a Linear calibration graph is obtained at 0.01-3.10μg mL^-1.A relative standard deviation of 1.06%(n=5)was obtained,and the limit of detection was 3 ng mL^-1.The capabiLity of the method for the analysis of real samples was evaluated by the determination of morphine in spiked human plasma and addicts human plasma with satisfactory results.  相似文献

Controlled release matrices have predictable drug release kinetics, provide drugs for an extended period of time, and reduce dosing frequency with improved patient compliance as compared with conventional tablet dosage forms. In the current research work, losartan potassium controlled release matrix tablets were fabricated and prepared with rate altering agents; that is, Ethocel grade 100 combined with Carbopol 934PNF. Various drug to polymer ratios were used. HPMC, CMC, and starch were incorporated in some of the matrices by replacing some amount of filler (5%). The direct compression method was adopted for the preparation of matrices. In phosphate buffer (pH 6.8), the dissolution study was conducted by adopting the USP method-I as the specified method. Drug release kinetics was determined and dissolution profiles were also compared with the reference standard. Prolonged release was observed for all matrices, but those with Ethocel 100FP Premium showed more extended release. The co-excipient (HPMC, CMC, and starch) exhibited enhancement in the drug release rates, while all controlled release matrices released the drug by anamolous non-Fickian diffusion mechanism. This combination of polymers (Ethocel grade 100 with Carbopol 934PNF) efficiently extended the drug release rates up to 24 h. It is suggested that these matrix tablets can be given in once a day dosage, which might improve patient compliance, and the polymeric blend of Ethocel grade 100 with Carbopol 934PNF might be used in the development of prolonged release matrices of other water-soluble drugs.  相似文献
