Collapse-revival phenomenon for different configurations of a three-level atom interacting with a field via multi-photon process and nonlinearities

General formalisms of a three-level atom interacting with quantized fields under the mechanism of the multi-photon transition are investigated. The wave function is calculated in the context of the framework of the dressed states. The collapse-revival phenomenon dependence on the photon number is discussed. The influences of detuning, Kerr-like, coupling constants and various forms of the intensity-dependent coupling functional are analyzed. General conclusions reached are illustrated through numerical results.     

Engineering of an all‐heteronuclear 5‐qubit NMR quantum computer

The realization of an all‐heteronuclear 5‐qubit nuclear magnetic resonance quantum computer is reported, from the design and synthesis of a suitable molecule through the engineering of a prototype 6‐channel probe head. Ultra-low-frequency dust-electromagnetic modes in self-gravitating magnetized dusty plasmas

Obliquely propagating altra-low-frequency dust-electromagnetic waves in a self-gravitating, warm, magnetized, two fluid dusty plasma system have been investigated. Two special cases, namely, dust-Alfvén mode propagating parallel to the external magnetic field and dustmagnetosonic mode propagating perpendicular to the external magnetic field have also been considered. It has been shown that effects of self-gravitational field, dust fluid temperature, and obliqueness significantly modify the dispersion properties of these ultra-low-frequency dust-electromagnetic modes. It is also found that in parallel propagating dust-Alfvén mode these effects play no role, but in obliquely propagating dust-Alfvén mode or perpendicular propagating dust-magnetosonic mode the effect of self-gravitational field plays destabilizing role whereas the effect of dust/ion fluid temperature plays stabilizing role.     

Transition to Chaos in the Floating Half Zone Convection

The transition process from steady convection to chaos is experimentally studied in thermocapillary convections of floating half zone. The onset of temperature oscillations in the liquid bridge of floating half zone and further transitions of the temporal convective behaviour are detected by measuring the temperature in the liquid bridge. The fast Fourier transform reveals the frequency and amplitude characteristics of the flow transition. The experimental results indicate the existence of a sequence of period-doubling bifurcations that culminate in chaos. The measured Feigenbaum numbers are δ2 =4.69 and δ4 = 4.6, which are comparable with the theoretical asymptotic value δ=4.669.     

ADM-Padé solutions for generalized Burgers and Burgers-Huxley systems with two coupled equations

We present an approximate numerical solution to generalized Burgers and Burgers-Huxley systems with two coupled equations using the ADM-Padé technique which is a combination of the Adomian decomposition method and Padé approximation. The Padé technique is used to enhance the accuracy and speed up the convergence rate of the truncated series solution produced by the ADM. Results are given in graphical form for explicit examples of the two systems.     

Electro-elastic interactions and second order anisotropic constitutive equations

Piezoelectricity is usually expressed as an interaction between mechanical and electrical variables. The physics involved is hence governed by a coupling between Maxwell's equations of electromagnetism and the equations of elasticity. Such a coupling takes us through the piezoelectric constitutive relations. In this work, the second order anisotropic constitutive equations are treated, and in particular, the number of independent material constants is computed for all the 32 crystallographic classes.Paper presented, in reduced version, at the 12th Italian National Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (AIMETA '95), October 1995, Naples, Italy.     

On non-commutative noetherian local rings, non-commutative geometry and particle physics

In this note we find the necessary and sufficient conditions which implies that the Dilworth number of non-commutative noetherian local ring equals one. In addition we discuss briefly connections to non-commutative geometry, theory and particle physics.     

Ionization and electroreduction of some benzthiazin-4-one azodyes

pKa values of a series of the titled compounds (2 a–g) together with a model compound3 have been determined spectrophotometrically in alcoholic buffered media. These values were correlated to different sets. The polarographic behaviour of the parent2 a and its nitro derivative2 g was studied in detail. The obtained data showed that2 a is reduced via a 2-electron process to the corresponding hydrazo from which was stabilized through hydrogen bonding.

Ionisierung und Elektroreduktion einiger Benzthiazin-4-on-Azofarbstoffe

Zusammenfassung Es wurden diepKa-Werte einer Serie der Titelverbindungen (2 a–g) zusammen mit einer Modellverbindung3 spektrophotometrisch in alkoholischer gepufferter Lösung bestimmt. Diese Werte wurden mit verschiedenen Sets von -Werten korreliert. Das polarographische Verhalten der Stammverbindung2 a und deren Nitroderivat2 g wurde im Detail untersucht. Die Daten zeigen, daß2 a über einen Zweielektronenprozeß zur entsprechenden Hydrazo-Verbindung reduziert wird, die durch Wasserstoffbrücken stabilisiert ist.
