It is proved that every bounded linear operator on a complex Banach space whose adjoint has aw *-cyclic vector, is similar to the differentiation operator on a Banach space of entire functions of finite exponential type. Electrospun thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) nanofibers are known to contract considerably (~40%) on heating up to ~90 °C. This study investigates this thermomechanical behavior and the TPU shape memory capabilities. The shape memory effect was first studied in TPU films as a model system by applying classical thermomechanical cycles (programming and recovery). The films were able to fix the applied deformation during long‐term storage at room temperature, well above the material's calorimetric glass transition temperature and in the absence of a percolated structure of hard domains. Structural analysis (Fourier transform infrared, differential scanning calorimeter, and dynamic mechanical analysis) revealed broad thermal transitions indicating the presence of a mixed phase of hard segments dispersed in the soft segment matrix. Using a linear viscoelastic model together with time–temperature superposition, the shape memory effect was attributed to the thermoviscoelastic properties of TPU. In particular, the mixed phase was found to give rise to a very broad relaxation spectrum dominated by long relaxation times, which explains the suppression of strain recovery at room temperature. Finally, the electrospinning process was examined and was found to be similar to a programming cycle characterized by the strong elongation flow accompanied by massive solvent evaporation, whereas the contraction effect was interpreted as the recovery phase in a shape memory perspective. Thus, the contraction of electrospun TPU mats may be considered to be an electrospinning‐induced shape memory effect. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part B: Polym. The multiplicities of neutrons emitted from the light and heavy fragments, respectively, in the inelastic scattering of 7.5 MeV/amu132 Xe ions from197Au have been studied as a function of total energy loss. The measured multiplicity ratios are close to the Au-Xe mass ratio for all Q-values, consistent with a rapid thermalization of the excitation energy. The absolute multiplicity values are lower than expected and suggest significant pre-equilibrium effects.  相似文献

Cerium oxide (CeO(2)) nanoparticles were prepared sonochemically, by using cerium nitrate and azodicarbonamide as starting materials, and ethylenediamine or tetraalkylammonium hydroxide as additives. The additives have a strong effect on the particle size and particle size distribution. CeO(2) nanoparticles with small particle size and narrow particle size distribution are obtained with the addition of additives; while highly agglomerated CeO(2) nanoparticles are obtained in the absence of additives. Monodispersed CeO(2) nanoparticles with a mean particle size of ca. 3.3 nm are obtained when tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAOH) is used as the additive and the molar ratio of cerium nitrate/azodicarbonamine/TMAOH is 1/1/1. Blue shifts of the absorption peak and the absorption edges of the products are observed in the UV-Vis absorption spectra as a result of the quantum size effect. The samples have been characterized using powder XRD, TEM, DLS, and absorption spectra.  相似文献

We have measured the vacuum ultraviolet absorption spectra of CH3I in solid and in liquid krypton in the spectral region 2000–1450 Å. In both phases we have observed two Wannier series n(2E32) and n(2E12) up to n = 3. Information has been obtained concerning the features of the conduction band in a liquid rare gas.  相似文献

The FT infrared spectrum in the 4000–400 cm−1 range of SO3 vapors, matrix isolated in argon and in water doped argon solid layers, is reported. Vibrational bands are assigned to pure SO3 monomeric and polymeric species and to SO3H2O complexes, on the basis of theoretical B3LYP and MP2 calculations employing the aug-cc-pVTZ basis sets. The spectroscopic evidence suggests that in addition to the monomer, both the dimeric and the cyclic trimeric (SO3)n complexes are the only other SO3 forms present in the matrix. The spectra also indicate the presence of the 1:1 and the 1:2 SO3·H2O complexes as well as traces of H2S2O7 and water complexed H2SO4, but no evidence for a stable 2:1 SO3H2O complex was found. The occurrence of the various species is discussed in the light of their calculated energies.  相似文献

A new strain of the fungusBeauveria bassiana Nov. EO-1 (ATCC 74037), which produces a red pigment in solid and liquid culture, has been isolated from an infected whitefly. The red pigment was extracted and has been identified by mass spectrometry as oosporein, a potent dibenzoquinone mycotoxin. In order to assess the potential of this entomogenous fungi for microbial control purposes, a mycelium bead formulation was developed as a source for pathogenic conidial spores and oosporein production. The mycelium bead preparation was found to be a stable fungal carrier. Conidiation and germination studies have revealed the mycelium bead viability is 100% over a 1-yr period when stored at 4°C. Conidial spore production from the mycelium beads has been falling substantially per time from an initial value of 1.5 × 108 spores per bead to 3 × 105 spores per bead after a year storage at 4°C. However, the mycelium bead formulation continues to produce oosporein on agar media, at the same intensity throughout the 1 yr period. In in vitro and in vivo small scale greenhouse experimentsBeauveria bassiana Nov. EO-1 were compared with known entomogenous fungi,Beauveria sp. andPaceilomyces sp. Beauveria bassiana Nov. EO-1 was found to have a high pathogenicity against foliage insect pests (e.g., whiteflies and mealy bugs), and against soil insects (e.g., citrus root weevils). The utilization of a mycelium bead based on this strain,Beauveria bassiana Nov. EO-1, as a source of conidial spores and oosporein may have broad applications for the control of various insect pests.  相似文献

We show that on every Ramanujan graph \({G}\), the simple random walk exhibits cutoff: when \({G}\) has \({n}\) vertices and degree \({d}\), the total-variation distance of the walk from the uniform distribution at time \({t=\frac{d}{d-2} \log_{d-1} n + s\sqrt{\log n}}\) is asymptotically \({{\mathbb{P}}(Z > c \, s)}\) where \({Z}\) is a standard normal variable and \({c=c(d)}\) is an explicit constant. Furthermore, for all \({1 \leq p \leq \infty}\), \({d}\)-regular Ramanujan graphs minimize the asymptotic \({L^p}\)-mixing time for SRW among all \({d}\)-regular graphs. Our proof also shows that, for every vertex \({x}\) in \({G}\) as above, its distance from \({n-o(n)}\) of the vertices is asymptotically \({\log_{d-1} n}\).  相似文献

Robust optimization (RO) is a distribution-free worst-case solution methodology designed for uncertain maximization problems via a max-min approach considering a bounded uncertainty set. It yields a feasible solution over this set with a guaranteed worst-case value. As opposed to a previous conception that RO is conservative based on optimal value analysis, we argue that in practice the uncertain parameters rarely take simultaneously the values of the worst-case scenario, and thus introduce a new performance measure based on simulated average values. To this end, we apply the adjustable RO (AARC) to a single new product multi-period production planning problem under an uncertain and bounded demand so as to maximize the total profit. The demand for the product is assumed to follow a typical life-cycle pattern, whose length is typically hard to anticipate. We suggest a novel approach to predict the production plan’s profitable cycle length, already at the outset of the planning horizon. The AARC is an offline method that is employed online and adjusted to past realizations of the demand by a linear decision rule (LDR). We compare it to an alternative offline method, aiming at maximum expected profit, applying the same LDR. Although the AARC maximizes the profit against a worst-case demand scenario, our empirical results show that the average performance of both methods is very similar. Further, AARC consistently guarantees a worst profit over the entire uncertainty set, and its model’s size is considerably smaller and thus exhibit superior performance.  相似文献
