This paper considers the problem of spatio-temporal extreme value prediction of precipitation data. This work presents some methods that predict monthly extremes over the next 20 years corresponding to 0.998 quantile at several stations over a certain region. The proposed methods are based on a novel combination of quantile regression forests and circular transformation. As the core of the methodology, quantile regression forests by combining many decorrelated bootstrapping trees may improve prediction performance, and circular transformation is used for building circular transformed predictors of months, which are put into the quantile regression forests model for prediction. The empirical performance of the proposed methods are evaluated through real data analysis, which demonstrates promising results of the proposed approaches.  相似文献

To improve the thromboresistance of a titanium alloy (TiAl6V4) surface which is currently utilized in several ventricular assist devices (VADs), a plasma-induced graft polymerization of 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) was carried out and poly(MPC) (PMPC) chains were covalently attached onto a TiAl6V4 surface by a plasma induced technique. Cleaned TiAl6V4 surfaces were pretreated with H2O-vapor-plasma and silanated with 3-methacryloylpropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS). Next, a plasma-induced graft polymerization with MPC was performed after the surfaces were pretreated with Ar plasma. Surface compositions were verified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). In vitro blood biocompatibility was evaluated by contacting the modified surfaces with ovine blood under continuous mixing. Bulk phase platelet activation was quantified by flow cytometric analysis, and surfaces were observed with scanning electron microscopy after blood contact. XPS data demonstrated successful modification of the TiAl6V4 surfaces with PMPC as evidenced by increased N and P on modified surfaces. Platelet deposition was markedly reduced on the PMPC grafted surfaces and platelet activation in blood that contacted the PMPC-grafted samples was significantly reduced relative to the unmodified TiAl6V4 and polystyrene control surfaces. Durability studies under continuously mixed water suggested no change in surface modification over a 1-month period. This modification strategy shows promise for further investigation as a means to reduce the thromboembolic risk associated with the metallic blood-contacting surfaces of VADs and other cardiovascular devices under development.  相似文献

Sildenafil and its analogues, which are used as illegal additives in several dietary supplements, were isolated by liquid‐liquid extraction and column chromatography and analyzed by fast‐atom bombardment mass spectrometry (FAB‐MS). Structures of sildenafil and its derivatives were elucidated by FAB‐tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) with exact mass measurement in the positive‐ion mode. To find structurally diagnostic ions for the sildenafil analogues, authentic sildenafil was preferentially analyzed by high‐energy collision‐induced dissociation (CID)‐MS/MS. The CID‐MS/MS spectra of [M+H]+ precursor ions resulted in the formation of numerous characteristic ions via a series of dissociative processes. The product ions formed by CID provided important information on the modification of the piperazine ring, the phenylsulfonyl group and the pyrazolopyrimidine moiety of sildenafil. By interpreting their MS/MS spectra, the chemical structures of sildenafil analogues isolated from dietary supplements could be elucidated and fragmentation patterns were proposed. To clearly identify the sidenafil derivatives in dietary supplements, some of the derivatives such as acetildenafil, homosildenafil and hydroxyhomosildenafil which are not commercially available were synthesized and compared with their MS/MS spectra. Many important large-scale linear programs with special structures lead to special computational procedures which are more efficient than the ordinary procedure of the generalized methods. Problems and their solvers taking advantage of multiple updatings of the basis in the dual simplex type method are presented. Computational results run by the efficient algorithm and a standard code MINOS for the test problems are compared and analyzed. It is shown that the amount of work for the optimal solution for the problem can be reduced by the new algorithm.  相似文献

We study the local-in-time regularity of the Brownian motion with respect to localized variants of modulation spaces and Wiener amalgam spaces . We show that the periodic Brownian motion belongs locally in time to and for (s−1)q<−1, and the condition on the indices is optimal. Moreover, with the Wiener measure μ on T, we show that and form abstract Wiener spaces for the same range of indices, yielding large deviation estimates. We also establish the endpoint regularity of the periodic Brownian motion with respect to a Besov-type space . Specifically, we prove that the Brownian motion belongs to for (s−1)p=−1, and it obeys a large deviation estimate. Finally, we revisit the regularity of Brownian motion on usual local Besov spaces , and indicate the endpoint large deviation estimates.  相似文献

Antiepidermal growth factor receptor antibody (anti‐EGFR antibody) was conjugated with the block copolymer micelle based on poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) for active targeting to EGFR overexpressing cancer cells. Doxorubicin (DOX) was encapsulated in the core of the block copolymer (MePEG‐b‐PCL) micelle (DOX‐micelle). The mean diameters of the DOX‐micelle and the anti‐EGFR‐PEG‐b‐PCL copolymer micelles loaded with DOX (DOX‐anti‐EGFR‐micelle) were about 25 and 31 nm, respectively. The RKO human colorectal cancer cells expressing moderate degree of EGFR were incubated with free DOX, DOX‐micelle, or DOX‐anti‐EGFR‐micelle to study the distribution of DOX in the cells. When cells were incubated with free DOX, moderate degree of DOX fluorescence was observed in the nuclei. In the cells treated with DOX‐micelle, the DOX fluorescence intensity in the cytoplasm was much greater than that in the nuclei. On the other hand, the nuclei of the cells treated with DOX‐anti‐EGFR‐micelle exhibited DOX fluorescence intensity similar to that in the cytoplasm. The cytotoxicity of DOX‐anti‐EGFR‐micelle to induce apoptosis in RKO cells was significantly greater than that of free DOX or DOX‐micelle. These results demonstrated that the presence of anti‐EGFR antibody on the DOX‐micelle surface (DOX‐anti‐EGFR‐micelle) increased the internalization of the DOX‐micelle and nuclear accumulation of DOX, and enhanced the DOX‐induced cell death. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
