The primary objective of this investigation was to document fluctuations of levels of ions in airborne particles and in rain water with the help of ion chromatography. The environmental emission situation in the investigated geographic area is characterized by a widespread use of domestic coal-burning furnaces. The use of a parallel impactor for particulate sampling permits the results to be interpreted additionally in terms of particle size. The anions and cations were extracted from the filters in the sampling devices into ethanol-water mixtures by sonication. Rain water samples were analysed after a simple dilution step. The data obtained on ionic fluctuations are compared with similar data sets published by other laboratories.  相似文献

A triple stage hybrid mass spectrometer was scanned for the trapping of the reaction intermediates of the over-all loss of two CsI-moieties from size-selected caesium iodide cluster ions of the general formula Cs (CsI)+ n . In addition to appropriate MS/MS/MS-methods an electrically floated collision cell has been applied to trap intermediates of unimolecular and collision-induced evaporations. In comparison with other experimental findings the features of the evaporation mechanism are discussed.  相似文献

The hyperfine structure of various absorption lines of molecular iodine with wavenumbers between 12980 and 13890 cm–1 has been resolved using Doppler-free polarization spectroscopy. The wavenumbers of theo-component of 17 rovibrational lines of I2 due to the transitionB 3 ou + –X1 g + with even rotational quantum numbers have been determined with an accuracy of 0.001 cm–1. A comparison of the centers of gravity of these 17 lines with the values of the iodine atlas of Gerstenkorn et al. yields a difference of thus corroborating the data of the iodine atlas in the red region within limits of error.  相似文献

A novel linear trinuclear mu-O-bridging 2-phosphinophenolate nickel(II) complex with fac-tris(P(intersection)O- chelates) in the terminal positions and the three oxygen atoms each facing the central nickel(II) cation was synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. Atomic emission detection of metallic species in aqueous solutions has been performed using a miniaturised plasma created within a planar, glass micro-fluidic chip. Detection was achieved using an Electrolyte as a Cathode Discharge source (ELCAD) in which the sample solution itself is used as the cathode for the discharge. To realise the ELCAD technique within a micro-fluidic device, a parallel liquid-gas flow was set up in a micro-channel and a glow discharge ignited between the flowing liquid sample surface and a metal wire anode. The detection of copper and sodium was achieved, using atmospheric pressure air as a carrier gas, by observation of atomic emission lines of copper at 324 nm, 327 nm, 511 nm, 515 nm and 522 nm and an atomic emission line of sodium at 589 nm using a commercially available miniaturised spectrometer. A total electrical power of less than 70 mW was required to sustain the discharge. A semi-quantitative, absolute detection limit of 17 nmol s(-1) was obtained for sodium with a sample flow rate of 100 microL min(-1) and an integration time of 100 ms in air at atmospheric pressure. The volume required for such detection is approximately 170 nL. Further analysis was performed with an Echelle spectrometer using both argon and air as a carrier gas. The geometry and flow rates used demonstrate the feasibility of integrating such micro-plasmas into other micro-fluidic devices, such as miniaturised CE devices, as a method of detection. The potential for using such micro-plasmas within highly portable miniaturised systems and mu-TAS devices is presented and discussed.  相似文献

Chemistry judging by its applications, physics according to its methods, and heavily reliant upon the tools of mathematics—that is what makes theoretical chemistry. And yet that is where its strength lies—in the variety of these sciences. It is quite natural that, in answer to specific problems, results and methods can sometimes be developed whose scope extends far beyond the original application. Rather it is a mark of quality if consequences can be found in chemistry and physics and the pathway leads via new mathematical procedures and concepts. Regrettably, any publication aiming to present such aspects will usually encounter little resonance since the linguistic confusion in science, its disciplines, and subdisciplines, lies like a veil over our understanding. The author nevertheless wishes to attempt to present, in a series of articles, results of research into chemical themes in a manner designed to appeal to the interest of chemists, without neglecting interdisciplinary aspects. All that is required to understand the argumentation is a lively interest. The first two articles are concerned with the chirality of molecules, and in particular with questions relating to the chirality phenomenon of molecules in the framework of molecular classes. In view of the algebraic nature of the mathematical methods adopted, it is not surprising that precise statements result. It appears of primary interest to establish the degree to which such statements can be considered valid for molecular models or molecules themselves.  相似文献
