A spectrophotometric method for the détermination of trace amounts of Nb(V) based on the formation of a ternary complex with Bromopyrogallol Red (L) and cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB) in 1M hydrochloric acid/15% dimethylformamide medium has been developed. The ternary 1:2:2 Nb-L-CPB complex is formed. The absorbance maximum is at 645 nm, the molar absorptivity being (4.00 +/- 0.04) x 10(4) l.mole(-1).cm(-1). The relative standard deviation is 1.9% and Beer's law is obeyed up to 1.4 mug of Nb(V) per ml. The application of the method to the determination of Nb in pyrochlore-bearing rocks is described. A possible mechanism of interaction of the surfactant with the Nb-L complex is discussed. 相似文献

The separation, characterization, and determination of mixtures of alkyl ether sulfates (AES) and fatty acids (C10-C16) in background electrolytes (BGEs) containing acetonitrile (ACN)-water mixtures is addressed. Due to inhibition of the ionization of the carboxylate groups, the migration time and the resolution between the fatty acids decreased when the water content of the BGE was reduced, but efficiency and resolution between the AES oligomers improved. The migration times increased and resolution improved by substituting 5% ACN by an equivalent amount of dioxane. A complete separation of the two surfactant classes, up to the AES oligomers with 8 ethylene oxide units (EOs) with respect to C10, with excellent resolution between the AES oligomers, while preserving a satisfactory resolution between the fatty acids, was achieved with a BGE containing 5 mM trimethoxybenzoic acid, 7 mM dipentylamine, 85% ACN, 5% dioxane, and 10% water. The two surfactant classes were increasingly resolved by further reducing the water content of the BGE. Thus, C2 (acetate) was resolved from the AES oligomers up to 7 EOs using 90% ACN and 5% dioxane, but the resolution between the heavier fatty acids was poor with this BGE. Identification of the AES oligomers was eased by the excellent regularity of the successive migration times; thus, within each AES subclass or series of oligomers with the same number of carbon atoms in the alkyl chain, the migration times decreased following a mild curve as the number of EOs increased. The way how the data obtained by indirect photometry (corrected peak areas that are proportional to the molar concentrations) should be managed to avoid systematic error when the calibration curve is constructed using an AES standard with an oligomer distribution different from that of the samples is discussed and equations are given. Decyl sulfate was successfully used as internal standard. The detection limits (S/N = 3) were of ca. 2 microM for individual AES oligomers. 相似文献

This paper presents possible applications of thermal analysis, sorptometry
and porosimetry to study physico-chemical properties of Na- and La-montmorillonite
samples, especially for determination of total surface heterogeneity. The
quasi-isothermal thermogravimetric (Q-TG) mass loss and its first derivative
(Q-DTG) curves with respect to temperature and time obtained during programmed
liquid thermodesorption under quasi-isothermal conditions have been used to
study adsorbed layers and heterogeneous properties of the Na- and La-montmorillonites.
Calculations of the desorption energy distribution functions by analytical
procedure using mass loss Q-TG and differential mass loss Q-DTG curves of
thermodesorption under quasi-isothermal conditions of polar and non-polar
liquid vapours preadsorbed on a material surface are presented. Parameters
relating to porosity of samples were determined by sorptometry, mercury porosimetry
and atomic force microscopy (AFM). From nitrogen sorption isotherms from sorptometry
and porosimetry methods, the fractal dimensions of montmorillonites have been
calculated. Moreover, a new approach is proposed to calculate fractal dimensions
of materials obtained from Q-TG curve; this is compared with values obtained
by the above methods. The total heterogeneous properties (energy distribution
function and pore-size distribution functions) of samples studied were estimated.
The radius and pore volume of the tested samples calculated on the basis of
thermogravimetry, sorptometry and porosimetry techniques were compared and

A method is described for the determination of molybdenum down to the microgram level, in samples of soil, steels, fertilizers and pharmaceuticals. After attack with acids, this element is separated from matrix elements by extraction of its 5,5'-methylenedisalicylohydroxamic acid (MEDSHA) complex from 4M hydrochloric acid, into methyl isobutyl ketone. Molybdenum is determined by atomic-absorption spectrometry (AAS), after conversion of the Mo-MEDSHA complex into the MoSCN(-) complex in the organic phase. The detection limit is 0.03 microg/ml, with a relative standard deviation not exceeding 1.5% at a level of 2 microg/ml. The kinetics of the gas-phase reaction of the NO3 radical with naphthalene have been investigated at 150 torr O2 + 590 torr N2 and 600 torr O2 + 140 torr N2 at 298 ± 2 K. Relative rate measurements were carried out in reacting NO3? N2O5-naphthalene-propene-O2? N2 mixtures by longpath Fourier transform infrared absorption spectroscopy. A rate constant ratio for the reactions of O2 and NO2 with the NO3-naphthalene adduct of k/k < 4 × 10?7 was obtained from the competition between O2 and NO2 for reaction with the NO3-naphthalene adduct and thermal decomposition of the adduct back to reactants. Atmospheric pressure ionization MS/MS measurements of the nitronaphthalene products of the NO3 radical-initiated reaction of naphthalene are consistent with the proposed reaction mechanism, and the atmospheric implications of the data are discussed. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

Structural, electrochemical and spectroscopic data of a new dinuclear copper(II) complex with (±)-2-(p-methoxyphenoxy)propionic acid are reported. The complex {tetra-μ-[(±)-2-(p-methoxyphenoxy)propionato-O,O′]-bis(aqua)dicopper(II)} crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/n with a = 14.149(1) ?, b = 7.495(1) ?, c = 19.827(1) ?, β = 90.62(1) and Z = 4. X-ray diffraction data show that the two copper(II) ions are held together through four carboxylate bridges, coordinated
as equatorial ligands in square pyramidal geometry. The coordination sphere around each copper ion is completed by two water
molecules as axial ligands. Thermogravimetric data are consistent with such results. The ligand has an “L” type shape due
to the angle formed by the β-carbon of the propionic chain and the linked p-methoxyphenoxy group. This conformation contributes to the occurrence of a peculiar structure of the complex. The complex
retains its dinuclear nature when dissolved in acetonitrile, but it decomposes into the corresponding mononuclear species
if dissolved in ethanol, according to the EPR measurements. Further, cyclic voltammograms of the complex in acetonitrile show
that the dinuclear species maintains the same structure, in agreement with the EPR data in this solvent. The voltammogram
shows two irreversible reduction waves at E
pc = −0.73 and −1.04 V vs. Ag/AgCl assigned to the Cu(II)/Cu(I) and Cu(I)/Cu° redox couples, respectively, and two successive oxidation waves at E

Polyacrylonitrile
(PAN) polymers are used as precursors for carbon fiber production. This process
requires an oxidative stabilization step, which can be studied by differential
scanning calorimetry (DSC). In this sense, thermal behavior of PAN based terpolymers
by different polymerization processes, compositions and itaconic acid concentrations
in the reaction media were investigated. The obtained results showed that
the addition of itaconic acid and methyl acrylate as comonomers resulted a
lower heat flow during the process comparing to the PAN homopolymer. It suggested
that these comonomers aid the oxidative stabilization stage for all studied
process. The redox system polymerization at 40°C resulted in a lower heat
flow. Itaconic acid decreases slightly initial and peak temperatures of the
terpolymer and heat flow until concentration of 3y. The cyclization temperature
decreases when MAis incorporated into the terpolymer compared to the MMA terpolymer
and increases when MAA is the acidic monomer. Among terpolymers the AN/MA/AA
polymer showed the best thermal behavior for carbon fiber producing. 相似文献

A convenient, novel synthesis of alkyl cyclopropyl ketones based on Z-1-bromo-1-alkenylboronate esters is developed. α-Bromo-(Z)-1-alkenylboronate esters readily available from literature procedures smoothly undergo a reaction with cyclopropylmagnesium bromide in tetrahydrofuran to provide the corresponding ‘ate’ complexes. These ‘ate’ complexes undergo intramolecular nucleophilic substitution reactions to provide the corresponding (E)-1-alkenylboronate esters containing cylcopropyl moiety for the first time in good isolated yields (68-82%). The carbon skeleton present in these intermediates is confirmed by oxidation with hydrogen peroxide and sodium acetate to afford the corresponding alkyl cyclopropyl ketones in good yields (72-85%). 相似文献
