A t-butylphenylnitroxide (BPNO*) stable radical is attached to an electron donor-bridge-acceptor (D-B-A) system having well-defined distances between the components: MeOAn-6ANI-Ph(BPNO*)-NI, where MeOAn=p-methoxyaniline, 6ANI=4-(N-piperidinyl)naphthalene-1,8-dicarboximide, Ph=phenyl, and NI=naphthalene-1,8:4,5-bis(dicarboximide). MeOAn-6ANI, BPNO*, and NI are attached to the 1, 3, and 5 positions of the Ph bridge, respectively. Time-resolved optical and EPR spectroscopy show that BPNO* influences the spin dynamics of the photogenerated triradical states 2,4(MeOAn+*-6ANI-Ph(BPNO*)-NI-*), resulting in slower charge recombination within the triradical, as compared to the corresponding biradical lacking BPNO*. The observed spin-spin exchange interaction between the photogenerated radicals MeOAn+* and NI-* is not altered by the presence of BPNO*. However, the increased spin density on the bridge greatly increases radical pair (RP) intersystem crossing from the photogenerated singlet RP to the triplet RP. Rapid formation of the triplet RP makes it possible to observe a biexponential decay of the total RP population with components of tau=740 ps (0.75) and 104 ns (0.25). Kinetic modeling shows that the faster decay rate is due to rapid establishment of an equilibrium between the triplet RP and the neutral triplet state resulting from charge recombination, whereas the slower rate monitors recombination of the singlet RP to ground state. 相似文献

This communication is focused on the controlled design of star‐shaped aromatic ethers with pendent cyclopentadienyliron moieties. A trimetallic core was prepared, which was then reacted with a number of oligomeric ether complexes to give star‐shaped polymers with six, nine, twelve and fifteen pendent cationic cyclopentadienyliron moieties. Cyclic voltammetric studies showed reduction of the iron centers between –0.99 and –1.41 V. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that loss of the metallic moieties occurred between 225 and 284°C. 相似文献

Cyclic voltammetry was employed to investigate the electrochemical behavior of numerous cyclopentadienyliron (CpFe+) and pentamethyl-cyclopentadienylruthenium (Cp*Ru+) coordinated oligomers and polymers. The electrochemical behavior of the iron systems indicated the cyclopentadienyliron complexes had isolated redox centers and that changes in the reversibility of the redox couple occurred with changes in solvent and temperature. In contrast, the monometallic ruthenium systems showed large peak separations that suggested slow kinetics on the CV timescale. The cyclic voltammograms of the larger ruthenium-containing oligomers and polymers showed multiple redox steps indicating complex electrochemical behavior. 相似文献

Bench scale experiments were conducted to determine the dissolution characteristics of UO2, U3O8, and UO3 in aqueous peroxide-containing carbonate solutions. The experimental parameters investigated included carbonate countercation

The carbonate countercation had a dramatic influence on the dissolution behavior of UO2 in 1 M carbonate solutions containing 0.1 M H2O2, with the most rapid dissolution occurring in (NH4)2CO3 solution. The initial dissolution rate (y) of UO2 in 1 M (NH4)2CO3 increased linearly with peroxide concentration (x) ranging from 0.05 to 2 M according to: y = 2.41x + 1.14. An optical imaging probe was synthesized by attaching a near-infrared carbocyanine fluorophore to an affinity group containing two zinc(II) dipicolylamine (Zn-DPA) units. The probe has a strong and selective affinity for the surfaces of bacteria, and it was used to image infections of Gram-positive S. aureus and Gram-negative E. coli bacteria in living nude mice. Modulated differential scanning calorimetry has been used to quantify the glass transitions of small adsorbed amounts of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) on silica. While a relatively narrow, single glass transition was found for bulk PMMA, broader two-component transitions were found for the adsorbed polymer. A two-state model based on loosely bound polymer (glass transition similar to bulk) and more tightly bound polymer (glass transition centered around 156 degrees C) was used to interpret the thermograms. On the basis of this model, the amount of tightly bound polymer was found to be approximately 1.3 mg/m2, corresponding to a 1.1 nm thick layer. The change in heat capacity for the tightly bound polymer at the glass transition temperature was estimated to be about 16% of that of the bulk polymer. 相似文献

The combination of shot noise-limited direct absorption spectroscopy with long-path-length slit supersonic discharges has been used to obtain first high-resolution infrared spectra for jet-cooled CH2F radicals in the symmetric (nu1) and antisymmetric (nu5) CH2 stretching modes. Spectral assignment has yielded refined lower- and upper-state rotational constants and fine-structure parameters from least-squares fits to the sub-Doppler line shapes for individual transitions. The rotational constants provide indications of large amplitude vibrational averaging over a low-barrier double minimum inversion-bending potential. This behavior is confirmed by high-level coupled cluster singles/doubles/triples calculations extrapolated to the complete basis set limit and adiabatically corrected for zero point energy. The calculations predict a nonplanar equilibrium structure (theta approximately 29 degrees, where theta is defined to be 180 degrees minus the angle between the C-F bond and the CH2 plane) with a 132 cm(-1) barrier to planarity and a vibrational bend frequency (nu(bend) approximately 276 cm(-1)), in good agreement with previous microwave estimates (nu(bend) = 300 (30) cm(-1)) by Hirota and co-workers [Y. Endo et al., J. Chem. Phys. 79, 1605 (1983)]. The nearly 2:1 ratio of absorption intensities for the symmetric versus antisymmetric bands is in good agreement with density functional theory calculations, but in sixfold contrast with simple local mode CH2 bond dipole predictions of 1:3. This discrepancy arises from a surprisingly strong dependence of the symmetric stretch intensity on the inversion bend angle and provides further experimental support for a nonplanar equilibrium structure. 相似文献

The optimized effective potential (OEP) for exchange was introduced some time ago by Sharp and Horton and by Talman and Shadwick. The integral equation for the OEP is difficult to solve, however, and a variety of approximations have therefore been proposed. These are explicitly orbital dependent and require the same two-electron integrals as Hartree-Fock theory. We have found a remarkably simple approximate effective potential that closely resembles the Talman-Shadwick potential in atoms. It depends only on total densities and requires no two-electron integrals. 相似文献
