In the present article we show how the bound states of the Coulomb potential may be associated with resonances that occur when this potential is perturbed by a barrier potential. The main idea is to trace the bound states on successive switching on of the barrier perturbation. It is found that those bound states that are localized inside the barrier are highly sensitive to variation with respect to the barrier height, whereas those that are localized outside are less sensitive. However, there are certain intervals for the barrier height when the role of being “a state localized inside the barrier” is shifted from one bound state to another. The result can be pictured as a “relay race,” where the “deliveries of the baton” are carried out over corresponding avoided crossings. Tyrosinases are ubiquitous binuclear copper enzymes that oxygenate to CuII2O2 cores bonded by three histidine Nτ‐imidazoles per Cu center. Synthetic monodentate imidazole‐bonded CuII2O2 species self‐assemble in a near quantitative manner at ?125 °C, but Nπ‐ligation has been required. Herein, we disclose the syntheses and reactivity of three Nτ‐imidazole bonded CuII2O2 species at solution temperatures of ?145 °C, which was achieved using a eutectic mixture of THF and 2‐MeTHF. The addition of anionic phenolates affords a CuIII2O2 species, where the bonded phenolates hydroxylate to catecholates in high yields. Similar CuIII2O2 intermediates are not observed using Nπ‐bonded CuII2O2 species, hinting that Nτ‐imidazole ligation, conserved in all characterized Ty, has functional advantage beyond active‐site flexibility. Substrate accessibility to the oxygenated Cu2O2 core and stabilization of a high oxidation state of the copper centers are suggested from these minimalistic models. 相似文献

The Stark effect has been observed in the rotational spectra of several gas-phase amine-hydrogen halide complexes and the following electric dipole moments have been determined: H(3)(15)N-H(35)Cl (4.05865 +/- 0.00095 D), (CH(3))(3)(15)N-H(35)Cl (7.128 +/- 0.012 D), H(3)(15)N-H(79)Br (4.2577 +/- 0.0022 D), and (CH(3))(3)(15)N-H(79)Br (8.397 +/- 0.014 D). Calculations of the binding energies and electric dipole moments for the full set of complexes R(n)()(CH(3))(3)(-)(n)()N-HX (n = 0-3; X = F, Cl, Br) at the MP2/aug-cc-pVDZ level are also reported. The block localized wave function (BLW) energy decomposition method has been used to partition the binding energies into contributions from electrostatic, exchange, distortion, polarization, and charge-transfer terms. Similarly, the calculated dipole moments have been decomposed into distortion, polarization, and charge-transfer components. The complexes studied range from hydrogen-bonded systems to proton-transferred ion pairs, and the total interaction energies vary from 7 to 17 kcal/mol across the series. The individual energy components show a much wider variation than this, but cancellation of terms accounts for the relatively narrow range of net binding energies. For both the hydrogen-bonded complexes and the proton-transferred ion pairs, the electrostatic and exchange terms have magnitudes that increase with the degree of proton transfer but are of opposite sign, leaving most of the net stabilization to arise from polarization and charge transfer. In all of the systems studied, the polarization terms contribute the most to the induced dipole moment, followed by smaller but still significant contributions from charge transfer. A significant contribution to the induced moment of the ion pairs also arises from distortion of the HX monomer. 相似文献

An investigation into the selectivity of an iminodiacetic acid (IDA) modified silica gel column for transition and heavy metal ions using non-chelating inorganic eluents has been carried out. A number of eluent parameters were investigated to determine the exact retention mechanism taking place and to control selectivity. The parameters studied were eluent ionic strength and the nature of the inorganic salt used, eluent pH and eluent temperature. The results obtained showed how despite certain metal ions exhibiting similar stability constants with the bonded IDA groups, careful control of each of the above parameters, in particular eluent chloride ion concentration and eluent temperature, could result in large changes in selectivity. Optimal conditions for the isocratic and gradient separation of Mg(II), Ca(II), Mn(II), Cd(II), Co(II), Zn(II) and Pb(II) were determined. An isocratic method using a 0.035 M KCl, 0.065 M KNO3 (pH 2.5) eluent was successfully applied to the determination of Mn(II), Cd(II), Co(II) and Zn(II) at concentrations between 20 and 121 microg/l in a freshwater certified reference material (NIST 1640). 相似文献

A molecular dynamics simulation method is presented and used in the study of the formation of polymer networks. We study the formation of networks representing the methylene repeating units as united atoms. The network formation is accomplished by cross-linking polymer chains with dedicated functional end groups. The simulations reveal that during the cross-linking process, initially branched molecules are formed before the gel point; approaching the gel point, larger branched entities are formed through integration of smaller branched molecules, and at the gel point a network spanning the simulation box is obtained; beyond the gel point the network continues to grow through the addition of the remaining molecules of the sol phase onto the gel (the network); the final completion of the reaction occurs by intra-network connection of dangling ends onto unsaturated cross-linkers. The conformational properties of the strands in the undeformed network are found to be very similar with the conformational properties of the chains before cross-linking. The uniaxial deformation of the formed networks is investigated and the modulus determined from the stress-strain curves shows reciprocal scaling with the precursor chain length for networks formed from sufficiently large precursor chains (N ≥ 20). 相似文献

Analogues of MKC-442 capable of undergoing Michael addition reactions were synthesised in order to investigate the activity against the HIV-1 mutant (Y181C). An improved activity was postulated on the basis of a possible covalent binding to the mercapto group of Cys181. Lithiation of the C-6 position of 1-ethoxymethyl-5-ethyl-1H-pyrimidine-2,4-dione (5) was followed by reaction with alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes and oxidation of the alcohols formed to give the alkenoyl analogues 1a-3a. Analogues 1b-3b containing an allyloxymethyl group in the N-1 position instead of the ethoxymethyl group could not be synthesised due to isomerisation of the allylic group during the metallation reaction. The NMR data for compounds 1a-3a showed a hindered rotation, which was more pronounced for the 6-cyclohexenylcarbonyl derivative 3a than for the propenyl derivatives 1a and 2a. Moderate activity against wild type HIV-1 was observed for the alcohol 8 and the ketones 2a-3a. However, no activity was observed against the Y181C mutant. 相似文献
