Several high-resolution imaging techniques such as FESEM, TEM and AFM are compared with respect to their application on alginate hydrogels, a widely used polysaccharide biomaterial. A new AFM method applicable to RGD peptides covalently conjugated to alginate hydrogels is described. High-resolution images of RGD adhesion ligand distribution were obtained by labeling biotinylated RGD peptides with streptavidin-labeled gold nanoparticles. The thermotropic phase behaviour and phase structure of crystalline and non-crystalline n-tetradecyl-beta-D-maltoside (C14G2) and n-hexadecyl-beta-D-maltoside (C16G2) have been investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray techniques. Upon lyophilisation, both compounds form a solid, lamellar phase comprising disordered head groups and hexagonally packed alkyl chains that are suggested to be tilted and interdigitated. This ordered lamellar phase melts into a metastable lamellar liquid crystal, which re-crystallises to a high-temperature crystalline polymorph comprising interdigitated, non-tilted alkyl chains. Remarkably, the high-temperature polymorph of C14G2 has the same melting point as that of C16G2, namely 105 degrees C for both surfactants. A low-temperature polymorph of anhydrous C14G2 crystallises from water at room temperature, whereas the hemihydrate of C14G2 crystallises at 6 degrees C from water, or from chloroform containing trace water. X-ray data suggest both these crystalline modifications to comprise interdigitated and tilted alkyl chains. 相似文献

A comprehensive model is suggested that values securities as options and consequently ordinary stock options as compound options. Extending the basic Black–Scholes model, it can incorporate common contractual features and stylized facts. More specifically, a closed form solution is derived for the price of a call option on a down‐and‐out call. It is then shown how the result obtained can be generalized in order to price options on complex corporate securities, allowing among other things for corporate taxation, costly financial distress and deviations from the absolute priority rule. Acreo has a long tradition of working with quantum structure based infrared (IR) detectors and arrays. This includes QWIP (quantum well infrared photodetector), QDIP (quantum dot infrared photodetector), and InAs/GaInSb based photon detectors of different structure and composition. It also covers R&D on uncooled microbolometers. The integrated thermistor material of such detectors is advantageously based on quantum structures that are optimised for high temperature coefficient and low noise. Especially the SiGe material system is preferred due to the compatibility with silicon technology. The R&D work on IR detectors is a prominent part of Acreo’s centre of excellence “IMAGIC” on imaging detectors and systems for non-visible wavelengths. A homoleptic organometallic FeIV complex that is stable in both solution and in the solid state at ambient conditions has been synthesized and isolated as [Fe(phtmeimb)2](PF6)2 (phtmeimb=[phenyl(tris(3-methylimidazolin-2-ylidene))borate]−). This FeIV N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complex was characterized by 1H NMR, HR-MS, elemental analysis, scXRD analysis, electrochemistry, Mößbauer spectroscopy, and magnetic susceptibility. The two latter techniques unequivocally demonstrate that [Fe(phtmeimb)2](PF6)2 is a triplet FeIV low-spin S=1 complex in the ground state, in agreement with quantum chemical calculations. The electronic absorption spectrum of [Fe(phtmeimb)2](PF6)2 in acetonitrile shows an intense absorption band in the red and near IR, due to LMCT (ligand-to-metal charge transfer) excitation. For the first time the excited state dynamics of a FeIV complex was studied and revealed a ≈0.8 ps lifetime of the 3LMCT excited state of [Fe(phtmeimb)2](PF6)2 in acetonitrile. 相似文献
