The strains and the energy in thin elastic shells of arbitrary shape for arbitrary deformation

Zusammenfassung Im ersten Teil (I) werden Formeln entwickelt, welche die kinetische und potentielle Energie dünner Schalen beliebiger Form explizit als Funktion eines beliebigen Verschiebungsfeldes ausdrücken. Dies geschieht auf rein analytische Weise ohne Zuhilfenahme geometrischer Darstellungen einzelner Schalenelemente. Von besonderem Wert für viele Anwendungen ist es, dass vollständige Freiheit in der Wahl der Flächenkoordinaten besteht.Im zweiten Teil (II) wird zunächst die Anwendung der Theorie auf zwei bekannte Beispiele gezeigt: 1. Platte in schiefwinkligen Koordinaten, 2. zylindrische Schale. Als neues Beispiel wird 3. die schraubenflächige Schale eingehend behandelt. Für einen besonderen Einspannungsfall wird die Frequenz der Grundschwingung als Funktion der Verwindung angenähert numerisch berechnet.

The relation between sample mass andDSC-amplitude was investigated under various experimental conditions for vitreous quartz, both as discs and powders. Contrary to other authors³ proportionality has been found up to the highest masses (75 mg) used. A statistical analysis of the data indicates that the accuracy of directC _p-measurements byDSC can be increased by determining the blank value by extrapolation of the amplitudes for several masses to zero mass instead of using the usual procedure, which involves a run with the empty pans. The overall error ofC _p due to instrument errors is estimated not to exceed 2%.     

Chord techniques and Newton's method for discrete bifurcation problems

Summary The numerical treatment of discrete bifurcation problems (2) with chord methods or Newton's method is a question of constructing appropriate initial approximations to prevent the sequence from converging to the trivial solution. This problem is being discussed under conditions which are satisfied for quite a few examples arising in applications (see Sect. 3).     

Phosphororganische Verbindungen 5. Mitt.: Zur Umsetzung von Alkylenphosphoranen mit Tetracyanäthylen (Merocyaninartige Verbindungen)

Zusammenfassung Alkylenphosphorane des allgemeinen Typs (Ar)₃P=CHR reagieren mit Tetracyanäthylen unter Bildung der entsprechenden Tricyanvinyl-alkylenphosphorane (Ar)₃P=C(R)-C(CN)=C(CN)₂. Die Ausbeute nimmt mit steigenden Elektronenacceptoreigenschaften des Restes R zu. Eine nähere Betrachtung der Tricyanvinyl-alkylenphosphorane zeigt, daß es sich hier um Verbindungen handelt, welche jeweils eine auxochrome und eine antiauxochrome Gruppierung im Molekül in der Anordnung enthalten, wie sie bei merocyaninartigen Molekeln vorliegt. Die genannte Verbindungsklasse zeigt eine hohe Absorption zwischen 404 und 416 m (log4,2). Die Verbindung III (R=C₆H₅) geht im alkalischen Milieu unter Aufnahme von 1 H₂O in ein sich von einem Pyrrolon ableitendes neues orange gefärbtes Alkylenphosphoran III a über, welches wieder als eine merocyaninartige. Verbindung angesehen werden kann (_Max = 455 m,log = 4,10). III a stellt eine gegenüber hydrolytischen Einflüssen äußerst stabile Molekel dar.

Alkylene phosphoranes of the general type (Ar)₃P=CHR react with tetracyanoethylene to form the corresponding tricyanovinylalkylene phosphoranes (Ar)₃P=C(R)-C(CN)=C(CN)₂. The yield improves with increasing electron acceptor properties of the group R. Closer consideration of the tricyanovinyl alkylene phosphoranes reveals that these compounds are such, that each contains an auxochromic and an anti-auxochromic group in the molecule, so situated as they occur in merocyanic type molecules. The class of compounds named absorb strongly between _Max = 404 and 416 m (log=4,20). The compound III (R=C₆H₅) takes up one H₂O in alkaline medium and is transformed into a new orange alkylene phosphorane III a, related to a pyrrolone. This, too, can be regarded as a merocyanic type compound ((_Max = 455 m). III a is extremely resistant to hydrolysis.

Zusammenfassung -Ketophosphoniumsalze der allgemeinen Struktur können mit Alkylnitriten zu Triphenylphosphinoxid und -Ketonitrilen RCOCN oxydiert werden. Ähnlich werden Alkylenphosphorane A umgesetzt: Für R₁=H, R₂=Alkyl entstehen Nitrile, während für R₁=Alkyl, R₂=Alkyl Ketoximäther gebildet werden.

-Ketophopshonium salts of the general structure can be oxidized by alkylnitrites to form triphenylphosphinoxid and -ketomitriles. Alkylenphosphoranes triphenylphosphinoxid and -ketonitriles. Alkylenphosphoranes (A) can be oxidized in the same manner. For R₁=H, R₂=alkyl the reaction product is nitrile whereas for R₁=alkyl, R₂-alkyl the products are ketoxime ethers.

Über die Umsetzung von o-Benzochinolacetaten mit Triphenyl-phosphoniumbenzylen

Zusammenfassung Bei der Umsetzung der o-Benzochinolacetate mit Triphenyl-phosphoniumbenzylen findet nicht die erwartete Eliminierung des Carbonylsauerstoffs des Cyclohexadienonsystems statt, sondern es entsteht unter 1,4-Addition und Abspaltung von Essigsäure ein Phosphoniumbetain, das sich mit HCl in ein Phosphoniumchlorid überführen lüßt. Dieses geht bei der Einwirkung von NaOH in Triphenylphosphinoxyd und das entsprechende Benzylphenol über.
