The electron—ion recombination coefficient in CO2 and NH3. Deviations from a linear density dependence at elevated pressures

The rate coefficient for electron—ion recombination at 292 K rises to a value of 7 x 10^?5 cm³ s^?1 in CO₂ at 13 x 10¹⁹ molecule cm^?3, but is non-linear with density above 8 x 10¹⁹ molecule cm^?3. In ammonia it passes through a definite maximum of 7 x 10^?5 cm³ s^?1 at 2.4 x 10¹⁹ molecule cm^?3     

Six-dimensional formulation of meson equations

The structure of the conformal group is studied by a generalisation of quaternion methods to six dimensions. Some simpleSO(4,2) covariant equations are shown to correspond to the Kemmer formulation for pseudoscalar and vector mesons, and the matrix elements of the irreducible representations of the Kemmer algebra are expressed as traces of products of Dirac matrices.     

Synthesis of bis(tetramethylstibonium)tetracyclopentadienylstannate a novel type of organotin(II) compound

Reaction of dicyclopentadienyltin(II) with pentamethylantimony gives [Me₄Sb]₂⁺[(C₅H₅)₄Sn]^2?, the first example of an anionic organotin(II) species.     

A novel approach to the solution of boundary-layer problems

By replacing a differential equation boundary-layer problem by its discrete lattice equivalent we are able to treat the resulting equation as a regular perturbation problem. We obtain the solution on the lattice as a regular perturbation series in inverse powers of the lattice spacing. To obtain the answer to the continuum problem we extrapolate the solution to the lattice problem to zero lattice spacing. This extrapolation, which is a Padé-like procedure, yields good numerical results for a wide range of problems.     

The “syn-effect” in sulfines and carbonyl oxides: Conformational preferences of CH3CHSO and CH3CHOO

Theoretical calculations indicate that the preference of ethanethial S-oxide fop syn-stereochemistry with a staggered HCCH conformation, as determined by microwave spectroscopy, is explained in terms of orbital and eleotrostatic interactions between the terminal oxygen and methyl hydrogen atoms.
