Previously, existence and uniqueness of a class of monotone similarity solutions for a nonlinear differential equation arising in magnetohydrodynamic Falkner–Skan flow were considered in the case of accelerating flows. It was shown that a solution satisfying certain monotonicity properties exists and is unique for the case of accelerated flows and some decelerated flows. In this paper, we show that solutions to the problem can exist for decelerated flows even when the monotonicity conditions do not hold. In particular, these types of solutions have nonmonotone second derivatives and are, hence, a distinct type of solution from those studied previously. By virtue of this result, the present paper demonstrates the existence of an important type of solution for decelerated flows. Importantly, we show that multiple solutions can exist for the case of strongly decelerated flows, and this occurs because of the fact that the solutions do not satisfy the aforementioned monotonicity requirements. A current challenge for proteomics is detecting proteins over the large concentration ranges found in complex biological samples such as whole‐cell extracts. Currently, no unbiased, whole‐proteome analysis scheme is capable of detecting the full range of cellular proteins. This is due in part to the limited dynamic range of the detectors used to sense proteins or peptides. We present a new technology, structured illumination (SI) gel imager, which detects fluorescently labeled proteins in electrophoretic gels over a 1 000 000‐fold concentration range. SI uses computer‐generated masks to attenuate the illumination of highly abundant proteins, allowing for long exposures of low‐abundance proteins, thus avoiding detector saturation. A series of progressively masked gel images are assembled into a single, very high dynamic range image. We demonstrate that the SI imager can detect proteins over a concentration range of approximately 1 000 000‐fold, making it a useful tool for comprehensive, unbiased proteome‐wide surveys.  相似文献

Kinetic and Statistical Thermodynamical Package (KiSThelP) is a cross‐platform free open‐source program developed to estimate molecular and reaction properties from electronic structure data. To date, three computational chemistry software formats are supported (Gaussian, GAMESS, and NWChem). Some key features are: gas‐phase molecular thermodynamic properties (offering hindered rotor treatment), thermal equilibrium constants, transition state theory rate coefficients (transition state theory (TST), variational transition state theory (VTST)) including one‐dimensional (1D) tunnelling effects (Wigner, and Eckart) and Rice‐Ramsperger‐Kassel‐Marcus (RRKM) rate constants, for elementary reactions with well‐defined barriers. KiSThelP is intended as a working tool both for the general public and also for more expert users. It provides graphical front‐end capabilities designed to facilitate calculations and interpreting results. KiSThelP enables to change input data and simulation parameters directly through the graphical user interface and to visually probe how it affects results. Users can access results in the form of graphs and tables. The graphical tool offers customizing of 2D plots, exporting images and data files. These features make this program also well‐suited to support and enhance students learning and can serve as a very attractive courseware, taking the teaching content directly from results in molecular and kinetic modelling. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

A method for enantiodiscrimination of α-chiral aldehydes is reported. The method utilizes circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy and a sensing ensemble composed of 2-(1-methylhydrazinyl) pyridine (1) and Fe(II)(TfO)2. Aldehydes react rapidly with hydrazine (1) to form chiral imines, which form complexes with Fe(II). By monitoring the CD bands above 320 nm, one can determine the enantiomeric excess (ee) values of α-chiral aldehydes with an average absolute error of ±5%. The analysis was fast, and thus can have potential applications in high-throughput screening (HTS) of catalytic asymmetric induction.  相似文献

Herein, an efficient access to fluorinated homoallylic alcohol is reported. The fluorinated alcohols were obtained in good to excellent yield using indium and halo-fluorinated allylic derivatives. The developed methodology using γ-substituted halo-fluorinated allylic derivatives gave the corresponding α-substituted fluorinated homoallylic alcohol in good yields and good diastereoselectivities up to 86:14.  相似文献

This work characterizes eight stationary points of the P2 dimer and six stationary points of the PCCP dimer, including a newly identified minimum on both potential energy surfaces. Full geometry optimizations and corresponding harmonic vibrational frequencies were computed with the second‐order Møller–Plesset (MP2) electronic structure method and six different basis sets: aug‐cc‐pVXZ, aug‐cc‐pV(X+d)Z, and aug‐cc‐pCVXZ where X = T, Q. A new L‐shaped structure with C2 symmetry is the only minimum for the P2 dimer at the MP2 level of theory with these basis sets. The previously reported parallel‐slipped structure with C2h symmetry and a newly identified cross configuration with D2 symmetry are the only minima for the PCCP dimer. Single point energies were also computed using the canonical MP2 and CCSD(T) methods as well as the explicitly correlated MP2‐F12 and CCSD(T)‐F12 methods and the aug‐cc‐pVXZ (X = D, T, Q, 5) basis sets. The energetics obtained with the explicitly correlated methods were very similar to the canonical results for the larger basis sets. Extrapolations were performed to estimate the complete basis set (CBS) limit MP2 and CCSD(T) binding energies. MP2 and MP2‐F12 significantly overbind the P2 and PCCP dimers relative to the CCSD(T) and CCSD(T)‐F12 binding energies by as much as 1.5 kcal mol?1 for the former and 5.0 kcal mol?1 for the latter at the CBS limit. The dominant attractive component of the interaction energy for each dimer configuration was dispersion according to several symmetry‐adapted perturbation theory analyses. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The topological analysis of the electron density for electronic excited states under the formalism of the quantum theory of atoms in molecules using time‐dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) is presented. Relaxed electron densities for electronic excited states are computed by solving a Z‐vector equation which is obtained by means of the Sternheimer interchange method. This is in contrast to previous work in which the electron density for excited states is obtained using DFT instead of TDDFT, that is, through the imposition of molecular occupancies in accordance with the electron configuration of the excited state under consideration. Once the electron density of the excited state is computed, its topological characterization and the properties of the atoms in molecules are obtained in the same manner that for the ground state. The analysis of the low‐lying singlet and triplet vertical excitations of CO and C6H6 are used as representative examples of the application of this methodology. Altogether, it is shown how this procedure provides insights on the changes of the electron density following photoexcitation and it is our hope that it will be useful in the study of different photophysical and photochemical processes. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献
