The extended boundary condition method, also called the null-field method, provides a semianalytic solution to the problem of electromagnetic scattering by a particle by constructing a transition matrix (T-matrix) that links the scattered field to the incident field. This approach requires the computation of specific integrals over the particle surface, which are typically evaluated numerically. We introduce here a new set of simplified expressions for these integrals in the commonly studied case of axisymmetric particles. Simplifications are obtained using the differentiation properties of the radial functions (spherical Bessel) and angular functions (associated Legendre functions) and integrations by parts. The resulting simplified expressions not only lead to faster computations, but also reduce the risks of loss of precision and provide a simpler framework for further analytical work. 相似文献

Guided mode resonance (GMR) filters are highly functional micro-optics capable of narrowband spectral filtering. GMR devices have previously been demonstrated on flat substrates using a wide range of materials and configurations. In this Letter, we apply a soft lithographic technique followed by the deposition of dielectric layers to generate GMR filters on a concave lens surface. Resonances of the resulting conformal GMR filters are experimentally measured and characterized, and the results are compared to the performance of similar GMR filters fabricated on flat surfaces. 相似文献

Temporal cleaning of a high-energy fiber-based ultrafast laser using cross-polarized wave generation

We report the use of cross-polarized wave generation to perform both pulse shortening and temporal cleaning of a high-energy ytterbium-doped fiber-based femtosecond laser system. The nonlinear processes allow both a highly efficient nonlinear conversion of 20% and a large compression ratio of 3.5, with inherently improved coherent and incoherent contrasts. This results in the generation of 37 μJ, 115 fs pulses at a repetition rate of 100 kHz with high temporal quality. 相似文献

This work introduces a procedure to solve the multi-skill project scheduling problem (MSPSP) (Néron and Baptista, International symposium on combinatorial, optimization (CO’2002), 2002). The MSPSP mixes both the classical resource constrained project scheduling problem and the multi-purpose machine model. The aim is to find a schedule that minimizes the completion time (makespan) of a project, composed of a set of activities. In addition, precedence relations and resources constraints are considered. In this problem, resources are staff members that master several skills. Thus, a given number of workers must be assigned to perform each skill required by an activity. Practical applications include the construction of buildings, as well as production and software development planning. We present a column generation approach embedded within a branch-and-price (B&P) procedure that considers a given activity and time-based decomposition approach. Obtained results show that the proposed B&P procedure is able to reach optimal solutions for several small and medium sized instances in an acceptable computational time. Results of Merkurjev and Saltman show that H2(F, µ?) is generated by ?/?-cyclic classes. We prove the “?/?-length” in H2(F, µ?) is less than the ?-Brauer dimension, which Salt-man showed to be three. It follows that all F-division algebras of period ? are crossed products, either cyclic (by Saltman’s cyclicity result) or tensor products of two cyclic F-division algebras. We consider the problem of performing matrix completion with side information on row-by-row and column-by-column similarities. We build upon recent proposals for matrix estimation with smoothness constraints with respect to row and column graphs. We present a novel iterative procedure for directly minimizing an information criterion to select an appropriate amount of row and column smoothing, namely, to perform model selection. We also discuss how to exploit the special structure of the problem to scale up the estimation and model selection procedure via the Hutchinson estimator, combined with a stochastic Quasi-Newton approach. We give a non-Abelian analogue of Whitney’s 2-isomorphism theorem for graphs. Whitney’s theorem states that the cycle space determines a graph up to 2-isomorphism. Instead of considering the cycle space of a graph which is an Abelian object, we consider a mildly non-Abelian object, the 2-truncation of the group algebra of the fundamental group of the graph considered as a subalgebra of the 2-truncation of the group algebra of the free group on the edges. The analogue of Whitney’s theorem is that this is a complete invariant of 2-edge connected graphs: let G, G′ be 2-edge connected finite graphs; if there is a bijective correspondence between the edges of G and G′ that induces equality on the 2-truncations of the group algebras of the fundamental groups, then G and G′ are isomorphic. 相似文献
