In order to evaluate the charge collection efficiency (CCE) profile of single‐crystal diamond devices based on a p‐type/intrinsic/metal configuration, a lateral Ion Beam Induced Charge (IBIC) analysis was performed over their cleaved cross sections using a 2 MeV proton microbeam. CCE profiles in the depth direction were extracted from the cross‐sectional maps at variable bias voltage. IBIC spectra relevant to the depletion region extending beneath the frontal Schottky electrode show a 100% CCE, with a spectral resolution of about 1.5%. The dependence of the width of the high efficiency region from applied bias voltage allows the constant residual doping concentration of the active region to be evaluated. The region where the electric field is absent shows an exponentially decreasing CCE profile, from which it is possible to estimate the diffusion length of the minority carriers by means of a drift–diffusion model. Upward and downward two-phase heat and mass transfer has been considered in the present paper. The heat and mass transfer with the condenser located below the evaporator has been obtained by inserting an accumulator tank in the liquid line of a loop thermosyphon and enforcing a pressure pulsation. In previous papers these heat transfer devices have been called pulsated two phase thermosyphons (PTPT). A mini PTPT has been experimentally investigated. It has shown a stable periodic heat transfer regime weakly influenced by the position of the condenser with respect to the evaporator. In contrast a classical loop mini thermosyphon (diameter of connecting pipes 4 mm) did not achieve a stable functioning for the investigated level differences between evaporator and condenser lower than 0.37 m. The present study shows that the functioning of a PTPT device does not directly depend on the level difference or the presence of noncondensable gas. In order to obtain a natural circulation in mini or micro loops, a periodically operating heat transfer regime should therefore be considered.  相似文献

The crystal structure of synthetic ferrous hureaulite, Fe5 2+ (H2O)4(PO4H)2(PO4)2, was refined from single-crystal X-ray data. It is monoclinic, space group C2/c, with a=17.487(4), b=9.017(2), c=9.338(2) Å, β=96.27(3)°, V=1463.6(6) Å3, Z=4 and D calc=3.327 g/cm3. This end member of the hureaulite series was crystallized under distinctly acidic conditions, by a method that gives perfect crystals, large enough for X-ray single crystal studies. The main feature of the hureaulite structure is that it has an equal number of normal (PO4)3+ and acid (PO4H)2+ tetradentate groups. These are centered on Fe2+ atoms and share corners with edge-linked octahedra, forming pentamer units. The five Fe2+ atoms are distributed on three distinct sites in these units. This can be directly observed in the Mössbauer spectrum at 295 K, which contains three doublets whose relative intensities correspond to the 1:2:2 distributions of crystallographic sites.  相似文献

Investigations of plasma produced by a boron nitride capillary discharge irradiated with a guided 20-TW Ti: sapphire laser pulse at a peak intensity of 4 x 10(18) W/cm2 are presented. The guided laser radiation in the plasma channel generated He-like ions that, subject to suitable plasma temperature, recombined into Li-like nitrogen ions. Intense radiation at a wavelength of 24.77 nm was observed, indicating possible lasing at the 3d(5/2) - 2p(3/2) transition in Li-like nitrogen.  相似文献

A comprehensive numerical tool has been developed for the evaluation of the performances of Radio over Fiber (RoF) links intended for wireless signal distribution.At the transmitter end an appropriate set of rate equations allows to model the optical source as a solitary laser or as an appropriately injection locked laser. The optical channel is modeled putting into account the combined effect of fiber dispersion, laser source non ideal performances (e.g. non-linear effects, frequency chirp), and quadratic detection of the receiving photodiode. The simulation model developed can be a useful tool at the design stage allowing a preliminary evaluation of the characteristics of real RoF links.  相似文献

Particles with different density from the advecting turbulent fluids cluster due to the different response of light and heavy particles to turbulent fluctuations. This study focuses on the quantitative characterization of the segregation of dilute polydisperse inertial particles evolving in turbulent flow, as obtained from direct numerical simulation of homogeneous isotropic turbulence. We introduce an indicator of segregation amongst particles of different inertia and/or size, from which a length scale r_{seg}, quantifying the segregation degree between two particle types, is deduced.  相似文献

2-Dimethylamino-6-lauroylnaphthalene (Laurdan) is a membrane probe of recent characterization, which shows high sensitivity to the polarity of its environment. Steady-state Laurdan excitation and emission spectra have different maxima and shape in the two phospholipid phases, due to differences in the polarity and in the amount of dipolar relaxation. In bilayers composed of a mixture of gel and liquid-crystalline phases, the properties of Laurdan excitation and emission spectra are intermediate between those obtained in the pure phases. These spectral properties are analyzed using the generalized polarization (GP). TheGP value can be used for the quantitation of each phase. The wavelength dependence of theGP value is used to ascertain the coexistence of different phase domains in the bilayer. Moreover, by following the evolution of Laurdan emission vs. time after excitation, the kinetics of phase fluctuation in phospholipid vesicles composed of coexisting gel and liquid-crystalline phases was determined.GP measurements performed in several cell lines did not give indications of coexistence of phase domains in their membranes. In natural membranes, Laurdan parameters indicate a homogeneously fluid environment, with restricted molecular motion in comparison with the phospholipid liquid-crystalline phase. The influence of cholesterol on the phase properties of the two phospholipid phases is proposed to be the cause of the phase behavior observed in natural membranes. In bilayers composed of different phospholipids and various cholesterol concentrations, Laurdan response is very similar to that arising from cell membranes. In the absence of cholesterol, from the steady-state and time-resolved measurements of Laurdan in phospholipid vesicles, the condition for the occurrence of separate coexisting domains in the bilayer has been determined: the molecular ratio between the two phases must be in the range between 30% and 70%. Below and above this range, a single homogeneous phase is observed, with the properties of the more concentrated phase, slightly modified by the presence of the other. Moreover, in this concentration range, the calculated dimension of the domains is very small, between 20 and 50 Å.  相似文献

Since the introduction of ceramic‐on‐ceramic couplings in total hip arthroplasty, continuous efforts have been performed to improve the performance of the prosthetic components. To expand the applications of ceramics, in 2000 an innovative alumina–zirconia composite was introduced in the market. The present study represents the first investigation aimed at characterising at the molecular level Biolox® delta retrievals implanted between 1999 and 2009. Fluorescence and Raman results showed that a progressive improvement of the material properties has occurred in the period between 1999 and 2009. Raman spectroscopy showed that wear was the main cause of the in vivo tetragonal‐to‐monoclinic zirconia transformation. Our findings validated the in vitro accelerated ageing protocols proposed in the literature to simulate the effects of the in vivo wear, because the mechanism operating in vivo was found to be the same active in vitro. The in vitro fracture of a new femoral head appeared to be an extreme wear condition that determined the most significant changes in the residual stress state and monoclinic content both in the section of the fragments and on their surface. The micro‐Raman mapping of the fractured articulating surface showed that the tetragonal‐to‐monoclinic transformation involved a region much more extended than as reported in the literature. We consider the class of experiments which can be characterized by a Fokker-PIanck dynamics corresponding to the overdamped motion of a state point in a suitable stochastic potential. We assume that the general form of the potential is known (or can be guessed with reasonable accuracy), but that its parameters are to be determined experimentally by measurements made with a noisy instrument. This possible method for determining the potential parameters, which exploits the system's own internal stochastic motion in order to explore rapidly its available parameter space, is substantially more efficient than traditional methods involving time averages of single point measurements, and yet does not appear to have been previously considered. The method could be important when, for example, the experiment must be completed in a limited time owing either to the expense of the experimental materials or to the temporary stationarity of the preparation, situations which are commonly encountered in experimental biochemistry and biology.  相似文献
