This paper describes characterization of molecular orientation for azobenzene moieties in a polymer nanosheet. Copolymers of N-[4-(phenylazo)phenyl] acrylamide (PAZoA) with tert-pentyl acrylamide (tPA) were synthesized and the monolayers deposited on tapered quartz waveguides by Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) technique. Spectroscopic properties of the copolymer (p(tPA/PAZoA)) monolayers were monitored by integrated optical waveguide technique on the molecular level. Molecular orientation of the azobenzene was precisely determined by polarized absorption spectra. It was found that the azobenzene groups took a horizontal orientation and distributed uniformly in the p(tPA/PAZoA) monolayer without significant PAZoA aggregation. Photoisomerization process from trans to cis form was also investigated. More than half of the trans form (60–70%) was photoisomerized under unpolarized light irradiation, and the photoisomerization rate was independent on the PAZoA contents. This implies that the microenvironment of PAZoA moieties was almost the same in three different p(tPA/PAZoA) monolayers.  相似文献

The reaction of conjugated dienes such as 1,3-butadiene, isoprene, 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene, 2,5-dimethyl-2,4-hexadiene, 1,3-cyclopentadiene, and 1,3-cyclohexadiene, with thallium(III)acetate in acetic acid at 10–65° for 0.5–15 hr affords an isomeric mixture of the corresponding diacetoxyalkenes (1,2- and 1,4-addition products) in 10–92% yields. The 1,2-addition products are predominantly formed in all cases examined except the case of 1,3-cyclopentadiene. The reaction is assumed to proceed through acetoxythallation and dethallation steps, the latter step being accompanied and/or followed by an attack of acetoxyl group. An initial attack of thallium moiety is proposed to occur mainly at C-1 and C-2 carbons in the cases of linear terminal dienes and cyclic dienes, respectively.  相似文献

We synthesized Leu‐Arg‐Pro‐Val‐Ala‐Ala‐Glu, the peptide contained in lactoferrin (Lf), to identify the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition. In an attempt to know the structure‐activity relationship of this peptide, we replaced Pro (the third amino acid residues from N‐terminal) or Val (the fourth amino acid residues from N‐terminal) with Ala (neutral amino acid), Glu (acidic amino acid) or Lys (basic amino acid) to produce six peptides. From the in vitro ACE inhibition (IC50) of these synthesized peptides, the original peptide (Leu‐Arg‐Pro‐Val‐Ala‐Ala‐Glu) showed higher ACE inhibition than the replaced six peptides. Thus, replacement of Pro at the third amino acid residues or Val at the fourth position with Ala, Glu or Lys revealed the ACE inhibition to be lower than the original form of Leu‐Arg‐Pro‐Val‐Ala‐Ala‐Glu. Otherwise, we added one peptide at the C‐terminal of Leu‐Arg‐Pro‐Val‐Ala‐Ala‐Glu and found both products with an addition of Val (Leu‐Arg‐Pro‐Val‐Ala‐Ala‐Glu‐Val) or Ile (Leu‐Arg‐Pro‐Val‐Ala‐Ala‐Glu‐Ile) showing a lower ACE inhibition than the original one. The ACE inhibitions produced by both replaced peptides were without significance. Also, deletion of the last peptide at the C‐terminal (Leu‐Arg‐Pro‐Val‐Ala‐Ala) failed to produce a marked change of ACE inhibition as compared to the original one. These results suggest that Pro and Val are essential in the peptide for inhibition of ACE activity.  相似文献

The structure and rheological properties of a poly(dimethylsiloxane)-graft-poly(oxyethylene) copolymer at high concentrations in block-selective solvents were studied by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and rheometry. Analysis of SAXS data indicates that quasispherical, reverse micellar aggregates (with no ordered packing) are present in concentrated solutions of the copolymer in nonpolar solvents, and that upon addition of water, the size of such aggregates increases due to the solubilization inside the micellar cores. The viscosity of concentrated polymer solutions increases exponentially as water is added, and finally, viscoelastic, gel-like behavior is found in the vicinity of the phase separation limit. It was found that small silver nanoparticles with an average diameter of ≈3 nm can be synthesized inside the copolymer aggregates without the need of a reducing agent; namely, particles embedded in a viscoelastic matrix are obtained. Various N-substituted derivatives of 4-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosylmoranoline have been synthesized, and their inhibitory activities against rabbit sucrase and maltase have been measured, as well as their effects on postprandial hyperglycemia in the sucrose-loaded rat, 4-O-alpha-D-Glucopyranosylmoranoline was also shown to have potent hypoglycemic activity in starch-loaded dogs.  相似文献

Abstract— The mechanism of action of psoralen plus UVA (PUVA) and photopheresis is not entirely understood. These therapies are assumed to be immunomodulating partly by gradually decreasing leukocyte viability. We investigated whether this delayed form of cell death was due to apoptosis. Untreated and treated (PUVA exposed) leukocytes obtained from six patients with systemic sclerosis and (untreated) leukocytes from healthy control individuals were studied. Qualitative gel electrophoresis and quantitative in situ nick translation analysis of DNA fragmentation was performed. Apoptosis of the treated cells did occur (gel electrophoresis) after 24 h. At t = 0 h, immediately after exposure to PUVA, there was no evidence of DNA fragmentation in the treated cells. The percentage of treated cells undergoing apoptosis was 20–55% at t = 24 h ( in situ nick translation). The untreated leukocytes of the patients and the healthy individuals showed no distinctive rise in apoptotic cells. Apoptosis of the leukocytes after PUVA or photopheresis treatment might be a mechanism of action and might explain the therapeutic response.  相似文献

The activation of adenylate cyclase in lysed pigeon erythrocytes requires, among several cofactors, a nucleotide which may be ATP, GTP, or many other triphosphates. However, after removal of endogenous nucleotides by gel filtration or by adsorption onto charcoal the requirement can be met only by GTP, or an analog of GTP. The GTP is required during the activation of the cyclase by toxin even if GTP is also included during the subsequent adenylate cyclase assay, conducted without toxin. In the presence of GTP it is possible to assay for the cytosolic protein that is also required for the action of cholera toxin. By gel filtration, its apparent molecular weight is 15,000--20,000.  相似文献
