The polymerization of acrylic acid (AA) was performed under 60Co irradiation in the presence of dibenzyl trithiocarbonate at room temperature, and well‐defined poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) with a low polydispersity index was successfully prepared. The gel permeation chromatographic and 1H NMR data showed that this polymerization displays living free‐radical polymerization characteristics: a narrow molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn = 1.07–1.22), controlled molecular weight, and constant chain‐radical concentration during the polymerization. Using PAA? S? C(?S)? S? PAA as an initiator, the extension reaction of PAA with fresh AA was carried out under 60Co irradiation, and the results indicated that this extension polymerization displayed controlled polymerization behavior. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A hydrogen‐bonded coordination supramolecule, (meso‐5,7,7,12,14,14‐hexamethyl‐1,4,8,11‐tetraazacyclotetradecane‐κ4N)nickel(II) [N,N‐o‐phenylenebis(oxamato)‐κ4O,N,N′,O′]nickelate(II) dihydrate, [Ni(C16H36N4)][Ni(C10H4N2O6)]·2H2O or [Ni(meso‐cth)][Ni(opba)]·2H2O, has been prepared and characterized by X‐ray crystallographic analysis. The two complex ions, i.e. [Ni(meso‐cth)]2+ and [Ni(opba)]2?, are hydrogen bonded to each other, resulting in two‐dimensional neutral supramolecular sheets. The sheets stack along the a direction to produce a three‐dimensional architecture with one‐dimensional channels in which hydrogen‐bonded chains of water molecules are included. 相似文献

The structure of a novel oxido‐aminoxyl (=`nitronyl nitroxide') biradical, 2,2′‐(1‐oxidopyridine‐2,6‐diyl)bis[4,5‐dihydro‐4,4,5,5‐tetramethyl‐3‐oxido‐1H‐imidazol‐1‐oxyl] hydrate ( 1 ⋅H2O) was established by X‐ray analysis in the solid state: monoclinic, space group P21/c, Z=4 with a=12.621(4), b=15.704(5), and c=13.001(4) Å, and β=115.202(6)°. Variable‐temperature magnetic susceptibilities show a weak antiferromagnetic interaction between the two oxido‐substituted aminoxyl moieties of 1 , indicative of a singlet ground state. AM1 Calculations located minima for the possible structure based on the X‐ray crystal structure. A hybride density‐functional‐theory calculation with the UB3LYP method from the X‐ray crystal structure establishes the same spin sign in the two aminoxyl moieties and shows that a small spin density is localized at the C‐atoms of the pyridine moiety. Excitation energy transfer from phycobilisomes to photosystem II in high-light adapted cells of Anabaena cylindrica was studied by fluorescence spectroscopy and compared to that of low-light adapted cells. Measurements were made on membrane fragments containing phycobilisomes, photosystem I and II, isolated in 0.75 M K-phosphate. Relative efficiency of 430 to 590 nm light in the excitation of F680 chlorophyll fluorescence was compared in low and high light adapted cells, respectively. The values indicate that light energy absorbed by phycobilisomes is transferred to photosystem II antenna chlorophylls with higher efficiency in high-light adapted cells than in low-light adapted cells. Partial dissociation and uncoupling of energy transfer caused by low ion concentration were different in the membrane fragments isolated from the two kinds of cells and indicated a higher aggregation state of pigment-protein complexes of phycobilisomes in high-light adapted A. cylindrica cells. 相似文献

The nucleation and growth of polythiophene films on gold electrodes has been studied using potentiostatic steps. The mechanism has been deduced and estimates made of the kinetic parameters. Dissolution of the gold substrate at potentials where thiophene polymerisation occurs is suppressed by the initial rapid formation of a monolayer of polymer. The data indicate that formation of bulk film occurs by the instantaneous nucleation and three-dimensional growth of polymer on top of this monolayer. Rate constants for growth parallel to the surface on the bare gold substrate and the covering polymer layer are surprisingly very similar. Growth perpendicular to the surface is slightly more rapid, typically by a factor of 1.5–3, although it is less dependent on potential. The high density of nuclei results in their overlap at an early stage, after which growth is only possible perpendicular to the surface. Within a narrow potential range, the observation of maxima and minima in current-time transients is interpreted in terms of the “death” and “rebirth” of growing centres. 相似文献
