This paper deals with a phase transitions model describing the evolution of damage in thermoviscoelastic materials. The resulting system is highly non-linear, mainly due to the presence of quadratic dissipative terms and non-smooth constraints on the variables. The convenient synthesis of both enantiomers of the piperidine alkaloids such as dumetorine and epidihydropinidine is described. Pure enantiomers of 2-(2-hydroxy-ethyl)-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester are used as a common starting material. The title reaction was studied in different water–cosolvent (methanol) mixtures. The results have been rationalized employing the Marcus–Hush treatment. To apply this treatment, the true, unimolecular, electron‐transfer rate constants (ket) were obtained from the experimentally measured rate constants after calculation of the equilibrium constant for the processes of formation of the encounter complex. This calculation was carried out using Eigen–Fuoss (EF) and exponential mean spherical (EMSA) approaches employing effective values of the solvent dielectric constant. These effective values were obtained from the measured association constants corresponding to other ion pairs. The results reveal that in these media there is an additional component of reorganization energy, absent in neat solvents. D-Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH, EC 1.2.1.12) catalyzes the oxidative phosphorylation of its substrate in
a two-step reaction. Asa result of the first, oxidativestep, the covalent intermediate where in 3-phosphoglyceroyl moiety
is bound to Cys149 of the active center is subjected to nucleophilic attack by inorganic phosphate, but remains resistant
to hydrolytic decomposition. This ensures tight coupling of oxidation with phosphorylation in glycolysis. In this article,
we present the experimental evidence for the conversion of GAPDH into a form capable of performing the reaction in the absence
of inorganic phosphate. The structural basis for this conversion is the oxidation of a cysteine residue (probably Cys 153)
into a sulfenic acid derivative under mild conditions to affect the integrity of the essential Cys 149. As a result, an intram
olecular transfer of 3-phosphoglyceroyl group from the active center Cys 149 to Cys 153 becomes possible with subsequent hydrolysis

Graph-theoretical approach is used to study cluster formation in mesocsopic systems. Appearance of these clusters is due to discrete resonances which are presented in the form of a multigraph with labeled edges. This presentation allows to construct all non-isomorphic clusters in a finite spectral domain and generate corresponding dynamical systems automatically. We find polymers everywhere in our daily activities, for example, as a part of consumer electronics products, healthcare devices, vehicles, etc. Analytical characterization of such materials is an important step towards understanding their properties and behavior in various applications. The increase of material complexity driven by highly demanding requirements for many applications necessitates the use of sophisticated analytical techniques to obtain sufficient insight into the structure of these materials. Coupling of liquid chromatography with other information-rich instrumental techniques becomes more and more important in the field of polymer characterization. Such combination can enable simultaneous separation, identification, and quantification of polymer sample components. In addition, it can provide information on interdependence of two polymer properties, e.g., molecular weight and chemical composition. Different hyphenated systems may be applied to address different problems in polymer research and development and a selection of the right technique may not be an easy and straightforward task. In this paper, the applications of LC-NMR, LC-IR, LC-Raman, LC-MS, LC-MALDI, LC × LC, and LC × Py-GC for polymer analysis are reviewed, their advantages and limitations are discussed, and practical challenges for the implementation of these techniques in a lab are addressed. Light is an important environmental signal for almost all living organisms. The light perception is achieved by photoreceptor proteins. As can be observed from the great number of bacterial genomes sequenced, plant pathogenic bacteria encode for a large number of photoreceptor proteins. The physiological implications of these photoreceptors are still poorly characterized. However, recent studies revealed the participation of these photosensory proteins in the pathogenic process. Here, we summarize what is known about these proteins and their role during the virulence process, concluding that the light environment modulates the plant–pathogen interaction. 相似文献
