Background  

The exact cause of schizophrenia is not known, although several aetiological theories have been proposed for the disease, including developmental or neurodegenerative processes, neurotransmitter abnormalities, viral infection and immune dysfunction or autoimmune mechanisms. Growing evidence suggests that specific cytokines and chemokines play a role in signalling the brain to produce neurochemical, neuroendocrine, neuroimmune and behavioural changes. A relationship between inflammation and schizophrenia was supported by abnormal cytokines production, abnormal concentrations of cytokines and cytokine receptors in the blood and cerebrospinal fluid in schizophrenia. Since the neuropathology of schizophrenia has recently been reported to be closely associated with microglial activation we aimed to determined whether spontaneous or LPS-induced peripheral blood mononuclear cell chemokines and cytokines production is dysregulated in schizophrenic patients compared to healthy subjects. We enrolled 51 untreated first-episode schizophrenics (SC) and 40 healthy subjects (HC) and the levels of MCP-1, MIP-1α, IL-8, IL-18, IFN-γ and RANTES were determined by Elisa method in cell-free supernatants of PBMC cultures.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate, for the first time, an optically implemented blueshift tunable metamaterial in the terahertz (THz) regime. The design implies two potential resonance states, and the photoconductive semiconductor (silicon) settled in the critical region plays the role of intermediary for switching the resonator from mode 1 to mode 2. The observed tuning range of the fabricated device is as high as 26% (from 0.76 THz to 0.96 THz) through optical control to silicon. The realization of broadband blueshift tunable metamaterial offers opportunities for achieving switchable metamaterials with simultaneous redshift and blueshift tunability and cascade tunable devices. Our experimental approach is compatible with semiconductor technologies and can be used for other applications in the THz regime.  相似文献

Results are presented on the efficient spectral manipulation of uniform and chirped Bragg reflectors inscribed in microstructured optical fibers utilizing short lengths of ferrofluids infiltrated in their capillaries. The infiltrated ferrofluidic defects can generate either parasitic reflection notch features in uniform Bragg reflectors of up to 80% visibility and ~0.1 nm spectral shift or tunability of the bandwidth and strength reflection up to 100% when introduced into chirped gratings. Spectra are presented for different spatial positions and optical characteristics of the ferrofluidic section.  相似文献

The paper is an up to date survey of results on theL p boundedness, 1 ≤p ≤ ∞, of convolution operators with oscillating kernels, mainly Bochner-Riesz and the spherical partial sums operators in ℝ n ,n ≥ 2 and their maximal operators. Consequences are norm convergence and almost everywhere convergence of Fourier series. Control variables may be used in the estimation of percentiles by stochastic stimulation. Hitherto control variables have only been applied to estimating the mean of a response variable; however, in many uses of simulation, information about the tails of the distribution of a response variable are of more interest. The efficacy of the method is demonstrated by application to an example of a simulation study in capital budgeting where exposure to risk is important.  相似文献

A bounded linear operator between Banach spaces is calledcompletely continuous if it carries weakly convergent sequences into norm convergent sequences. The relativistic effective core potential (RECP) approach combined with the spin-orbit DFT electron correlation treatment was applied to the study of the bonding of eka-mercury (E112) and mercury with hydrogen and gold atoms. Highly accurate small-core shape-consistent RECPs derived from Hartree-Fock-Dirac-Breit atomic calculations with Fermi nuclear model were employed. The accuracy of the DFT correlation treatment was checked by comparing the results in the scalar-relativistic (spin-orbit-free) limit with those of high level scalar-relativistic correlation calculations within the same RECP model. E112H was predicted to be slightly more stable than its lighter homologue (HgH). The E112-Au bond energy is expected to be ca. 25–30 % weaker than that of Hg-Au. The role of correlations and magnetic (spin-dependent) interactions in E112-X and Hg-X (X=H, Au) bonding is discussed. The present computational procedure can be readily applied to much larger systems and seems to be a promising tool for simulating E112 adsorption on metal surfaces.  相似文献
