A procedure is described for the determination of the uranium content of metallurgical alloys containing this element as a minor constituent. The uranium is first separated from the sample solution by precipitation as uranyl ammonium phosphate in the presence of ethylenediamine-totra-acetic acid. By this means the uranium is separated from many elements including iron, chromium, copper, nickel, vanadium, cerium, ncodymium and bismuth. Tho uranyl ammonium phosphate precipitate is dissolved in hydrochloric acid and the resulting solution is passed through a lead reductor. The tetravalent uranium is titrated with a standard cerie sulphate solution, using ferroin as the indicator. This procedure has proved very suitable for the analysis of bismuthuranium binary alloys containing uranium in amounts up to approximately 20%.  相似文献

The hydrolysis kinetics of CICN have been reinvestigated from pH 0.0–10.5 and from 18–40°C. In the pH range from 1–5, the hydrolysis rate is invariant and the activation parameters (ΔH? = 84 kJ mol?1 and ΔS? = ?84 J mol?1 K?1) are consistent with water attack. In basic solution the rate is first order each in CICN and OH? concentrations with parameters ΔH? and ΔS? equal to 82 kJ mol?1 and + 54 J mol?1 K?1, respectively. The rate constants with 20 other donors have been measured. Nitrogen nucleophiles are more reactive than oxygen donors, and an alpha-effect is seen. The constants follow a pattern indicative of attack at carbon. Cyanate in its acid form reacts with nucleophiles. Further points on the cyanate rate–pH profile have been obtained. A chromate-catalyzed hydrolysis can contribute between pH 5–10. Some studies were made of the reaction of cyanate with hydrogen peroxide. Free energy correlations are presented.  相似文献

The morphology of DMPC/DHPC mixtures at total lipid concentration cL = 5% (w/w) and DMPC/DHPC ratio q approximately 3, doped with small amounts of DMPG or CTAB, was investigated. 31P NMR was used to identify the magnetically aligning phase, and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM) was employed for structural characterization. Magnetic alignment was found to occur between approximately 30 and approximately 45 degrees C, and cryo-TEM showed that the magnetically aligning phase consisted of extended sheets with a lacelike structure. The aggregates are best described as intermediates between two-dimensional networks of flattened, highly branched, cylindrical micelles and lamellar sheets perforated by large irregular holes. DHPC most likely covers the edges of the holes, while DMPC makes up the bilayer bulk of the aggregates. However, 20-43% of the DHPC takes part in the bilayer, corresponding to 6-12% of the bilayer being made up of DHPC. This fraction increases with increasing temperature. At temperatures above 45 degrees C, the aligning phase collapses.  相似文献

Leaf expansion, comprising cell division and cell enlargement, is controlled by light quality and quantity. The role of UV-B irradiance on leaf cell enlargement has not been determined. We studied the effect of a wide range of UV-B irradiances on the cell-enlargement-driven expansion of Phaseolus vulgaris L., cv. Contender (bush bean) leaf discs. Our growth method allowed separation of the cell enlargement phase of leaf expansion from the cell division phase. In two series of experiments with different types of UV-B screening filters, the effect of increasing levels of UV-B on the area of excised P. vulgaris leaf discs was investigated. One set of experiments utilized polyester (UV-B-absorbing) and cellulose acetate (UV-B-transmitting) filters. The other set utilized UV-B-absorbing and UV-B-transmitting acrylic filters. Regardless of which type of filter was used for screening, high (above summer solstice) levels of supplemental UV-B inhibited cell enlargement in a linear, dose-dependent manner, resulting in smaller leaf discs than treatment with UV-B-absorbing filters. Conversely, low levels of supplemental UV-B enhanced cell enlargement in a linear, dose-dependent manner, resulting in larger leaf discs than did treatment with UV-B-absorbing filters. The results suggest a biphasic response to UV-B, and that there is an optimum UV-B level that results in maximum leaf expansion by cell enlargement.  相似文献
