A study is carried out of the fundamental roles played by emission and detection sources of charged particles in quantum field theory by incorporating the unavoidable fact that charged particles feel the presence of each other even when they are widely separated at the emission and detection sites due to the long range effect of the electromagnetic interaction. It is shown that the emission and detection sources as amplitudes of emission and detection of charged particles are to have given specific coupling dependent phase factors for a correct formulation of the problem. Composite sources are introduced for emitting and detecting “clusters” of charged particles. Finally a complete cancellation of the so-called relativistic Dalitz phase factor occurs prior to computing transition rates and probabilities. This work generalizes our earlier work (Fortschr. Phys. 34 , 835 (1986)) dealing with the non-relativistic Coulomb problem. 相似文献

A twisted version of four dimensional supersymmetric gauge theory is formulated. The model, which refines a nonrelativistic treatment by Atiyah, appears to underlie many recent developments in topology of low dimensional manifolds; the Donaldson polynomial invariants of four manifolds and the Floer groups of three manifolds appear naturally. The model may also be interesting from a physical viewpoint; it is in a sense a generally covariant quantum field theory, albeit one in which general covariance is unbroken, there are no gravitons, and the only excitations are topological.On leave from Department of Physics, Princeton University. Since the data show that Bell inequalities are violated experimentally, we must conclude that any hidden variable theory (which correctly predicts experimental data ) will be non-local. But, to conclude that the experimental violations of Bell inequalities show quantum mechanics to be non-local is unjustified. Specifically, the key assumptions required to obtain a Bell inequality are ( 1 ) locality and (2) the assignment of meaningful ( non- negative) probabilities to seemingly physical correlations (Bell expresses these correlations via " hidden variables" ). Since the Bell inequality is violated by experiment, at least one of these assumptions is wrong. The widespread conclusion that locality must be relinquished is valid only if we retain the previously mentioned correlations ( "hidden variables" ). We will demonstrate that the latter are not physical observables - they are not elements of physical reality. 相似文献

We describe a method of optical refocusing for high numerical aperture (NA) systems that is particularly relevant for confocal and multiphoton microscopy. This method avoids the spherical aberration that is common to other optical refocusing systems. We show that aberration-free images can be obtained over an axial scan range of 70 mum for a 1.4 NA objective lens. As refocusing is implemented remotely from the specimen, this method will enable high axial scan speeds without mechanical interference between the objective lens and the specimen. 相似文献

Anterior cingulate and cerebellar GABA and Glu correlations measured by ¹H J-difference spectroscopy

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glutamate (Glu) levels, normalized to total creatine (tCr), were measured in the anterior cingulate and cerebellar vermis in healthy adults (n=19, age=24.6±6.4 years) using 1H MRS at 3 T, and metabolite correlations across regions and subjects were determined. Mean anterior cingulate and cerebellar GABA/tCr ratios were 0.31 (0.08) and 0.23 (0.06), respectively, while corresponding Glu levels were 1.16 (0.10) and 0.70 (0.07), respectively. Anterior cingulate and cerebellar glutamate levels were correlated (r=0.6103, P=.0140), although it is noted that when adjusted for multiple comparisons, all correlations reported here cluster to a P value of .0583. It is unlikely that this correlation is driven by correlations in tCr, since interregional correlations were not observed for other metabolites referenced to tCr. Correlations were also observed among metabolites in both the anterior cingulate and cerebellar vermis. In the former, N-acetylasparate was linearly dependent on glutamate (r=0.6577, P=.0063) and, at or below this significance threshold, four metabolites were correlated in the cerebellar vermis (Ins/tCh: r=0.6261, P=.0109. An integrated intra‐laser‐cavity microparticle sensor based on a dual‐wavelength distributed‐feedback channel waveguide laser in ytterbium‐doped amorphous aluminum oxide on a silicon substrate is demonstrated. Real‐time detection and accurate size measurement of single micro‐particles with diameters ranging between 1 µm and 20 µm are achieved, which represent the typical sizes of many fungal and bacterial pathogens as well as a large variety of human cells. A limit of detection of ∼500 nm is deduced. The sensing principle relies on measuring changes in the frequency difference between the two longitudinal laser modes as the evanescent field of the dual‐wavelength laser interacts with micro‐sized particles on the surface of the waveguide. Improvement in sensitivity far down to the nanometer range can be expected upon stabilizing the pump power, minimizing back reflections, and optimizing the grating geometry to increase the evanescent fraction of the guided modes. 相似文献
