We present first-principles’ calculations of the structural, electronic, and effective mass properties of cubic Al1−x B x N ordered alloys. They are based on the density functional theory within the local density approximation, and the full-potential linear augmented plane-wave method. From such calculations we obtain the equilibrium lattice constants, the bulk moduli, the bandgap energies, and the effective masses along the (111), (100), and (110) directions. The results are used to give important information on characteristics analysis of AlBN-based quantum well devices, to provide the Luttinger-like valence band parameters and the effective masses of charge carriers, connecting the first-principles’ band calculations with effective-mass theory.  相似文献

We present the results of an isotope (2H and 18O) and hydrogeochemical study in order to constrain the origin, recharge, and evolution of the surface and groundwater in the arid Andean realm of the Elqui watershed. The results of 2H and18O analyses of water samples obtained during our summer and winter campaigns indicate a generally meteoric origin of the river and spring waters of the watershed. The isotope signature of water of the Elqui river and its tributaries as well as that of groundwater in the coastal region fits the 2H-18O relation of delta2H =7.61delta18O+6.1. A relatively fast discharge and a quasi-closed catchment area can be asserted for water along the river flow path. The tributaries from the more arid coastal area, north of the Elqui river, differ in their isotopic signature due to evaporation and hydrochemically due to interactions with the strongly altered and fractured volcanic rocks of the basement. In the Andean zone, the18O-enriched hydrothermal spring of Ba?os del Toro exhibits the influence of water-rock interaction processes. The chemistry of the river water changes from sulphate- to chloride-rich along the river course from the high Andean mountains to the coast. The sulphate-rich character of these Andean waters reflects their passage through sulphide-rich rock massifs that were subjected to strong oxidation processes in the near superficial environment. This sulphate signature is enforced by past and present mining of precious metal epithermal deposits (e.g. those of El Indio-Tambo Au-Cu-As district), in which mineralised zones were developed during a series of Miocene magmatic-hydrothermal episodes in the Andean realm. Owing to the proximity of the lower Elqui river waters and its tributaries to the Pacific coast, the chloride character may be induced by agricultural and marine (sea spray, fog) sources. Generally, the main source of the Elqui river water is mainly attributed to surface runoff and less to contributions from the basement fractured aquifer.  相似文献

We consider stationary stochastic processes arising from dynamical systems by evaluating a given observable along the orbits of the system. We focus on the extremal behaviour of the process, which is related to the entrance in certain regions of the phase space, which correspond to neighbourhoods of the maximal set \(\mathcal M\), i.e.,the set of points where the observable is maximised. The main novelty here is the fact that we consider that the set \(\mathcal M\) may have a countable number of points, which are associated by belonging to the orbit of a certain point, and may have accumulation points. In order to prove the existence of distributional limits and study the intensity of clustering, given by the Extremal Index, we generalise the conditions previously introduced in Freitas (Adv Math 231(5): 2626–2665, 2012, Stoch Process Appl 125(4): 1653–1687, 2015).  相似文献

Anuran, such as Brazilian toad Bufo ictericus Spix, 1824, possess a calcified dermal layer called the Eberth-Katschenko (EK) layer located between the stratum spongiosum and the stratum compactum. It has been regarded as a protective barrier against desiccation or involved in storage and mobilization of calcium, or a barrier for the interchange of substances between the animal's internal and external environment. The B. ictericus integument was removed from the ventral and dorsal regions and examined by light microscopy, using histochemical techniques, and also submitted to biochemical calcium analysis. The intermediate layer is strongly basophilic and metachromatic. In the EK layer Alcian blue at different critical electrolytic concentration revealed hyaluronic acid, which coexists with the dermal calcium. We conclude that the EK layer of B. ictericus is a discontinuous layer and is formed of hyaluronic acid and a sulfated GAG different from chondroitin sulfate, heparin and heparan sulfate or keratan sulfate. The amount of cutaneous calcium is independent of region and sex. GAGs may play an important role in dermal hydric balance, protecting the animal against desiccation, and hyaluronic acid is probably able to anchor dermal calcium. Thus, all compounds of the EK layer are essential for integument integrity and functionality.  相似文献

The classical Mittag-Leffler functions, involving one- and two-parameter, play an important role in the study of fractional-order differential (and integral) equations. The so-called generalized Mittag-Leffler function, a function with three-parameter which generalizes the classical ones, appear in the fractional telegraph equation. In the present contribution it is applied first-principles calculations to investigate the electronic structure of boron nitride M?bius stripes, with armchair and zigzag configurations, obtained from boron nitride nanoribbons using a ??cut?? and ??glue?? process. The results show that the structural stability strongly depends on the length and width of the stripe. It is also found that the energy gap and work function depends on the structure chirality. Due to the formation of an antiphase boundary, zigzag stripes present tunable electronic properties, with significant potential for technological applications.  相似文献

Student engagement in classroom activities is usually described as a function of factors such as human needs, affect, intention, motivation, interests, identity, and others. We take a different approach and develop a framework that models classroom engagement as a function of students’ conceptual competence in the specific content (e.g., the mathematics of motion) of an activity. The framework uses a spatial metaphor—i.e., the classroom activity as a territory through which students move—as a way to both capture common engagement-related dynamics and as a communicative device. In this formulation, then, students’ engaged participation can be understood in terms of the nature of the “regions” and overall “topography” of the activity territory, and how much student movement such a territory affords. We offer the framework not in competition with other instructional design approaches, but rather as an additional tool to aid in the analysis and conduct of engaging classroom activities.  相似文献

The control of sound transmission through panels is an important noise control problem in the aerospace, aeronautical, and automotive industries. The trend towards using lightweight composite materials that have lower sound insulation performance is a negative factor regarding low frequency transmission loss. Double-panel partitions with the gap filled with sound absorption materials are often employed to improve the sound insulation performance with reduced added weight penalty. However, in the low frequency range, the strong coupling between the panels through the air cavity and mechanical paths may greatly reduce the sound transmission performance, making it even lower than the performance of a single panel in some frequency ranges. In this work, an experimental investigation of a new kind of hybrid (active/passive) acoustic actuator is presented. The idea consists of replacing the acoustic absorption material by a hybrid actuator aiming at improving the transmission loss at low frequencies without altering the passive attenuation. A prototype of the system is tested in a plane wave acoustic tube setup. Different kinds of SISO feedforward control implementations were used to attenuate the sound power transmitted through the hybrid active–passive panel using an error microphone or a particle velocity sensor placed downstream with respect to the sample panel. Measurement results of the transmission loss with active and hybrid attenuation are presented and discussed.  相似文献
