Cancer is one of the main causes of death worldwide. Chemotherapy, despite its severe side effects, is to date one of the leading strategies against cancer. Metal-based drugs present several potential advantages when compared to organic compounds and they have gained trust from the scientific community after the approval on the market of the drug cisplatin. Recently, we reported the ruthenium complex ([Ru(DIP)2(sq)](PF6) (where DIP is 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenantroline and sq is semiquinonate) with a remarkable potential as chemotherapeutic agent against cancer, both in vitro and in vivo. In this work, we analyse a structurally similar compound, namely [Ru(DIP)2(mal)](PF6), carrying the flavour-enhancing agent approved by the FDA, maltol (mal). To possess an FDA approved ligand is crucial for a complex, whose mechanism of action might include ligand exchange. Herein, we describe the synthesis and characterisation of [Ru(DIP)2(mal)](PF6), its stability in solutions and under conditions that resemble the physiological ones, and its in-depth biological investigation. Cytotoxicity tests on different cell lines in 2D model and on HeLa MultiCellular Tumour Spheroids (MCTS) demonstrated that our compound has higher activity than cisplatin, inspiring further tests. [Ru(DIP)2(mal)](PF6) was efficiently internalised by HeLa cells through a passive transport mechanism and severely affected the mitochondrial metabolism.  相似文献

Derivatives of 1,2-dithienylethene (DTE) have superb photochromic properties due to an efficient reversible photocyclization reaction of their hexatriene structure and, thus, have application potential in materials for optoelectronics and (multi-responsive) molecular switches. Transition-metal complexes bearing switchable DTE motifs commonly incorporate their coordination site rather distant from the hexatriene system. In this work the redox active ligand 1,2-bis(2,5-dimethylthiophen-3-yl)ethane-1,2-dione is described, which reacts with [V(TMEDA)2Cl2] to give a rare non-oxido vanadium(IV) species 3(M,M/P,P) . This blue complex has two bidentate en-diolato ligands which chelate the VIV center and give rise to two five-membered metallacycles with the adjacent hexatriene DTE backbone bearing axial chirality. Upon irradiation with UVA light or prolonged heating in solution, the blue compound 3(M,M/P,P) converts into the purple atropisomer 4(para,M/para,P) . Both complexes were isolated and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis (using lab source and synchrotron radiation). The antiparallel configuration (M or P helicity) present in both 3(M,M/P,P) and 4(para,M/para,P) is a prerequisite for (reversible) 6π cyclization reactions. A CW EPR spectroscopic study reveals the metalloradical character for 3(M,M/P,P) and 4(para,M/para,P) and indicates dynamic reversible cyclization of the DTE backbone in complex 3(M,M/P,P) at ambient temperature in solution.  相似文献

Synthesis and Metalation of the Diaminosiloxane O(SiiPr2NH2)2 The 1,3‐diaminoldisiloxane O(SiiPr2NH2)2 ( 1 ) was obtained from the reaction of O(SiiPr2Cl)2 with NH3. The reactions of 1 with AlEt3 or GaEt3 produced the compounds [O{SiiPr2N(H)MEt2}{SiiPr2NMEt}]2 ( 2 : M = Al; 3 : M = Ga). The crystal structures of 2 and 3 were determined by single crystal X‐ray diffraction, showing a polycyclic M4N4Si4O2 core structure of these molecules.  相似文献

Nanometre hydroxyapatite (nHA) coated metallic materials have been successfully used for bone tissue implantation for several decades now due to its sound biological and mechanical properties. The microstructure and surface topography of the implant material are well-known to play a crucial role in influencing cellular responses to implants and bone tissue regeneration ultimately. Recently, a novel jet-based patterning technique, template-assisted electrohydrodynamic atomisation (TAEA) spraying, has been devised to prepare depositions with defined surface topography for guiding the cellular response. In this study, an improvement investigation of this patterning process was carried out to precisely control the nHA surface structure in terms of geographies and dimensions via an angular needle jetting during the patterning process. More importantly, the mechanism of such improvement of the TAEA patterning technique was also discussed and uncovered. A range of diverse nHA surface structures with high-resolution was therefore achieved, which paves the way for the research of the new generation implant materials with defined cellular response.  相似文献

We present a combined Monte‐Carlo/molecular dynamics study of a Cu0.327Ni0.673 alloy system. On the basis of nearest‐neighbor coordination number analyses atomic clustering and phase segregation is explored. Along this line, free energy profiles are calculated and separated into entropic and energetic contributions. The competition of both terms was found in accordance to the experimental phase diagrams (phase separation of the solid solution below about 600 Kelvin). Two independent simulation runs were performed. At 1000 Kelvin the observed configurations correspond to solid solutions exhibiting a weak tendency to cluster atoms of identical species. At room temperature the energetic favoring of atomic separation is clearly dominant and leads to the formation of Ni‐rich and Cu‐rich domains. The latter are separated by interfacial regions whose width ranges from 0.5 to 1 nanometers.  相似文献

Fundamental analysis is an approach for evaluating a firm for its investment-worthiness whereby the firm's financial statements are subject to detailed investigation to predict future stock price performance. In this paper, we propose an approach to combine financial statement data using Data Envelopment Analysis to determine a relative financial strength (RFS) indicator. Such an indicator captures a firm's fundamental strength or competitiveness in comparison to all other firms in the industry/market segment. By analysing the correlation of the RFS indicator with the historical stock price returns within the industry, a well-informed assessment can be made about considering the firm in an equity portfolio. We test the proposed indicator with firms from the technology sector, using various US industries and report correlation analyses. Our preliminary computations using RFS indicator-based stock selection within mean–variance portfolio optimization demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach.  相似文献

A new family of highly unusual sesquarterpenoids (persicamidines A–E) exhibiting significant antiviral activity was isolated from a newly discovered actinobacterial strain, Kibdelosporangium persicum sp. nov., collected from a hot desert in Iran. Extensive NMR analysis unraveled a hexacyclic terpenoid molecule with a modified sugar moiety on one side and a highly unusual isourea moiety fused to the terpenoid structure. The structures of the five analogues differed only in the aminoalkyl side chain attached to the isourea moiety. Persicamidines A–E showed potent activity against hCoV-229E and SARS-CoV-2 viruses in the nanomolar range together with very good selectivity indices, making persicamidines promising as starting points for drug development.  相似文献

This paper reports a cost-effective processing route for forming micrometre-size channels containing multiple exits/entries. An alumina suspension was electrosprayed in the stable cone-jet mode and the fine ceramic droplets generated were deposited on an organic fibre, which was pre-shaped to the architecture of the micro-channel(s) required. A rationally mode-locked 10 GHz erbium fiber laser stabilized by a simple technique for extended time operation is described. The laser generates stable ~ 5 ps pulses that can be used in communications experiments. Back-to-back bit error rate (BER) measurements confirmed error-free operation for 6-8 hours, giving an error floor below 10 -14 . A receiver sensitivity of -19.7 dBm was achieved for BER of 10 -9 .  相似文献

Single crystals of a third modification of Ag2Te2O6 (denoted as Ag2Te2O6–III) and of Ag4TeO5 have been obtained as minor by‐products during hydrothermal phase formation experiments in the system Ag‐Hg‐Te‐O. The crystal structure of Ag2Te2O6–III (P21/c, Z = 4, a = 6.4255(10), b = 6.9852(11), c = 13.204(2) Å, β = 90.090(3)°, 1885 independent reflections, R[F2 > 2σ(F2)] = 0.0334, wR2(F2 all) = 0.0817) comprises tellurium in oxidation states +IV and +VI and is topologically related to the structure of the Ag2Te2O6–I modification, which consists of similar layers and interjacent layers of Ag+ cations. Ag4TeO5 (C2/c, Z = 8, a = 16.271(2), b = 6.0874(10), c = 11.4373(16) Å, β = 106.730(10)°, 2372 independent reflections, R[F2 > 2σ(F2)] = 0.0288, wR2(F2 all) = 0.0737) is made up of a layer‐like arrangement of isolated [TeVI2O10] double octahedra and of Ag+ cations situated both in layers parallel and inside the layers of the anionic moieties.  相似文献
