The photoelectron spectra of 1,5-cyclooctadiyne ( 2 ) and of 1,6-dithiacyclodeca-3,8-diyne ( 3 ) have been recorded. The first four ( 2 ) or six ( 3 ) PE. bands have been assigned as follows; in increasing order of ionization potentials: The relative sequence and the positions of the PE. bands are explained in terms of through-bond and through-space interactions between the basis π-orbitals and σ-orbitals of appropriate symmetry behaviour. An analysis of the PE. spectroscopic data for cyclooctyne ( 1 ) and for ( 2 ) indicates that a cis-bend of the acetylene moiety by θ < 20° leads to a split in energy of the in-plane and out-of-plane basis π-orbitals which is smaller than ∽ 0.2 eV. This is in agreement with the predictions derived from semiempirical models (MINDO/2, SPINDO) and qualitative orbital arguments. However, it is shown by using orbital localization procedures, that the rationales underlying the two semiempirical models differ significantly.  相似文献

The large number of known stable compounds in which phosphorus has a low coordination number makes it clear that such compounds can no longer be regarded as “exotic” in main group chemistry. While the rich chemistry of P? C multiply bonded systems makes clear their affinity to their organic congeners, iminophosphanes in particular are also of increasing importance. The linkage of a phosphinidine fragment with an imine fragment via a multiple bond gives rise to a class of compounds with an unusually wide range of structural types. This in turn leads to a broad spectrum of chemical behavior which makes iminophosphanes extremely useful synthetic building blocks in organoelement chemistry.  相似文献

N,N-Dimethylformamide (4a) and N,N-dimethylpivalamide (4b) react with carbonyl chloride isocyanate (5) in the presence of antimony pentachloride to afford the amino substituted 1-oxa-3-azabutatrienium hexachloroantimonates 6a,b. An X-ray diffraction analysis of 6a confirms the proposed structure. The heterocumulenes 6a,b react with aldehydes, ketones and tertiary carboxamides to give the amino substituted 2-azaallenium salts 13a-O in high yields.  相似文献

The scheme of ‘through-space’ and ‘through-bond’ interaction of (semi)localized orbitals, originally proposed by Hoffmann, is reexamined in terms of SCF many-electron treatments. It is shown that the two types of interaction can be characterized by examining the corresponding off-diagonal matrix elements of the Hartree-Fock matrices of the localized or the symmetry adapted localized orbitals and of the partially diagonalized Hartree-Fock matrices referring to ‘precanonical orbitals’. The procedure outlined is applied to three practical examples using the semiempirical many-electron treatments SPINDO, MINDO/2 and CNDO/2:
  • a A reassessment of ‘through-space’ and ‘through-bond’ interaction in norbornadiene indicates, that the latter type of interaction is also of importance for the orbital based mainly on the antisymmetric combination of the localized x-orbitals. The differences in the predictions derived from the three models are critically examined.
  • b The competition between ‘through-space’ and ‘through-bond’ interaction in the series of bicyclic dienes from norbornadiene to bicyclo[4.2.2]-dcca-7,9-diene and in cyclohexa-1,4-diene, i. e. their dependence on the dihedral angle UI is reexamined. It is found that the rationalization for the orbital crossing near ω = 130° deduccd from PE. spectroscopic data can not be as simple as originally suggested and that the relay’ orbitals responsible for ‘through-bond interaction affecting both the symmetric and the antisymmetric combination of the π-orbitals extend over the whole CC-σ-system of the six membered ring.
  • c ‘Through-bond’ interaction of the two lone pair orbitals in 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane is found to be large for their symmetric and the antisymmetric linear combination.
The analysis quoted, draws attention to some of the dangers involved in using semiempirical treatments for the interpretation of PE. data in terms of Koopmans′ theorem, without due caution.  相似文献

The reactions F + H2 → HF + H, HF → H + F, F → F+ + e? and F + e? → F? were used as simple test cases to assess the additivity of basis set effects on reaction energetics computed at the MP4 level. The 6-31G and 6-311G basis sets were augmented with 1, 2, and 3 sets of polarization functions, higher angular momentum polarization functions, and diffuse functions (27 basis sets from 6-31Gd, p) to 6-31 ++ G(3df, 3pd) and likewise for the 6-311G series). For both series substantial nonadditivity was found between diffuse functions on the heavy atom and multiple polarization functions (e.g., 6-31 + G(3d, 3p) vs. 6-31 + G(d, p) and 6-31G(3d, 3p)). For the 6-311G series there is an extra nonadditivity between d functions on hydrogen and multiple polarization functions. Provided that these interactions are taken into account, the remaining basis set effects are additive to within ±0.5 kcal/mol for the reactions considered. Large basis set MP4 calculations can also be estimated to within ±0.5 kcal/mol using MP2 calculations, est. EMP4(6-31 ++ G(3df, 3pd)) ≈ EMP4(6-31G(d, p)) + EMP2(6-31 ++ G(3df, 3pd)) – EMP2(6-31G(d, p)) or EMP4(6-31 + G(d, p) + EMP2(6-31 ++ G(3df, 3pd)) – EMP2(6-31 + G(d, p)) and likewise for the 6-311G series.  相似文献

Synthesis gas provides a simple substrate for the production of fuels and chemicals. Synthesis gas can be produced via established technologies from a variety of feedstocks including coal, wood, and agricultural and municipal wastes. The gasification is thermally efficient and results in complete conversion of the feedstock to fermentable substrate.Clostridium ljungdahlii grows on the synthesis gas components, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide. Production of acetic acid and ethanol accompanies growth with synthesis gas as sole source of energy and carbon. Rate and yield parameters are compared forC. ljungdahlii grown on carbon monoxide, or hydrogen with carbon dioxide.

For the clustering of chemical structures that are described by the Similog, ISIS count, and ISIS binary fingerprints, we propose a sequential superparamagnetic clustering approach. To appropriately handle nonbinary feature keys, we introduce an extension of the binary Tanimoto similarity measure. In our applications, data sets composed of structures from seven chemically distinct compound classes are evaluated and correctly clustered. The comparison, with results from leading methods, indicates the superiority of our sequential superparamagnetic clustering approach.  相似文献

The n ionization energies I and the gas-phase basicities GB of CH3-, Cl-, or CN-substituted quinuclidines have been measured by PE and ICR spectroscopy. The dependence of the shifts ΔI and ΔGB (relative to the values of the parent molecule) allow conclusions about the charge dispersal accompanying the n ionization or the protonation of quinuclidine in the gas phase. The agreement with the results of a minimal basis set ab initio calculation is excellent. Comparison of the solution pKa values with either I or GB reveals that 2-substituted quinuclidines exhibit sizeable solvent-induced proximity effects, i.e. that the corresponding quinuclidinium ions are more acidic in solution than expected on the basis of the gas-phase basicities. This agrees with earlier results concerning 2-substituted pyridines.  相似文献

Photoelectron spectroscopy has been used to examine the consequences of steric inhibition of conjugation in a distorted vinyl sulfide and vinyl ether.
