Nuclear interaction of 300 GeV negative poins in emulsion

Experimental data are presented on charged particle multiplicities production in interactions of 300 GeV/c negative poins with emulsion nuclei. Correlations were established and the obtained parameters of multiplicity distributions compared with those obtained from proton-nucleus interaction data at 300 GeV/c.

The principal (9, 27) and minor (17, 28) sex pheromone components of both, the Douglas fir tussock moth ($\text{Orgyia pseudotsugata}$) and the peach fruit moth ($\text{Carposina}$$\text{niponensis}$), have been synthesized in four steps each, using the chain-lengtheningdifunctionalisation of Grignard reagents by reaction with ketenylidenetriphenylphosphorane as the key step.     

The effect of methyl hydrogens on the librational motion of naphthalene molecules in a durene host crystal

We have studied the properties of naphthalene molecules in a durene host crystal by means of a computer calculation of the intermolecular interactions. The amazingly large reorientation of the naphthalene molecule upon absorption of a (pseudo-) localized phonon in its photoexcited triplet state appears to be caused by the motion of the methyl groups of neighbouring durene molecules.

A complete determination of the discrete part of the approximation spectrum and the Markoff spectrum is given for the Eisensteinian field.

Interferometric enhancement of surface-generated second-harmonic radiation

Greatly improved second-harmonic emission has been obtained from dye monolayers adsorbed at quartz etalons. Two different types of interferometers have been studied in terms of the SH signal from dye coverage versus harmonic background emission. The phasematching-like conditions for constructive interferometric enhancement and the concomitant spatial and spectral emission characteristics are discussed in detail.
