Light-emitting field-effect transistor based on a tetracene thin film

We report the first organic light-emitting field-effect transistor. The device structure comprises interdigitated gold source and drain electrodes on a Si/SiO(2) substrate. A polycrystalline tetracene thin film is vacuum sublimated on the substrate forming the active layer of the device. Both holes and electrons are injected from the gold contacts into this layer leading to electroluminescence from the tetracene. The output characteristics, transfer characteristics, and the optical emission properties of the device are reported. A possible mechanism for electron injection is suggested.     

Resolution enhancement of pHe+ atomic line profiles measured with a pulsed dye laser and a Fizeau wavelength meter

A Fizeau wavelength meter was used to compensate for fluctuations in the longitudinal mode structure and wavelength of a pulsed dye laser. The average laser linewidth was effectively narrowed by selection of laser pulses with a single longitudinal mode. These techniques were recently employed to measure some atomic transition wavelengths in pHe+ to fractional precisions greater than 1 part in 10(7). The wavelengths were absolutely calibrated against iodine or tellurium lines by absorption spectroscopy or against neon or argon lines by optogalvanic spectroscopy.     

Calculation of spin-dependent parameters in the Landau-Migdal theory of nuclei

Contributions to the spin-dependent parameter G'₀, the coefficient of σ₁·σ₂τ₁·τ₂δ(r₁?r₂) in the Fermi-liquid interaction, and to the tensor invariants, are related back to elementary-particle exchange. Once finite-range pion-nucleon interactions are used, almost all of G'₀ comes from theρ-exchange nucleon-nucleon potential. Using modern parameterizations of the strength in the ρ-channel, we find G'₀ to be in the region of 1.5 to 2.4 which agrees well with an empirical determination.
